Received the same letter today 5/5/09 with the exact same information - by the way I am in Austin and the calling # is 512-651-4536.  Signed by the famous Jackie Weber.  Wow, he or she gets around huh.  Always, always, do you research or at least keep you radar up in these situations.

They made the mistake of using the USPS for thier scam, and the letter will be forwarded to the OIG (Postal Inspectors). Thank you for all the testimonials.

I also received a letter from them. Envelope of letter was hand written and no return address, which right away sent out a warning that something is up.  Did not waste my time by calling.

Got a letter today, dated 4/20/2009 - a bit late for supposedly coming across town. Nice paper, nice logo - looks great, but fits the bill of "too good to be true".

Got the same letter last a few days ago. I also wonder where they got my information, my zip code was printed wrong (missing a number) on the letter, so they couldn't be too bright. I know that I wasn't previously contacted (called ID.) No return address on the envelope, sketchy info in the letter as to when or how I even qualified... I am throwing the letter out right now!

Got the same letter - 2 free tickets worth $1400.  Said last attempt to contact me.  No one has called me before.  Website is very bad and looks like a scam company.

Said to call (682) 227-6388 - nothing is free in this world.

I called to see what their scam was...  They claim to set up appts for Bentley Travel in Parsippany. I found this blurb below.

Bentley travel used to be five points. please read all the complaints involving five points. This is why they changed their name. Their presentation is too believable. Many of us have fallen for their scam and are out thousands of dollars for a product that does not exist. They are mail frauds...

Here is a little more detail on the scam

My husband and i attended a 90 min seminar promising consolidator priced travel for a membership fee ranging from $9, 000.oo to 'today only' special of $999 plus registration costs...emulating time share proposals.

We fell for this scam...included was the 'lure' of two nights free at a Ritz-Carlton of your choice...AND...TWO FREE TICKETS within the continental US.

This happenened only late last night and we hope to not only be protected by our VISA card..but, to force VISA to confront these malicious perpetrators of deceit.

The invitation comes to you by mail in the form of a bright Happy Birthday card. Beware!

I sure wish that I had done some basic homework on this.
We are guilty of being not only gullible but also stupid.

and another...

My wife and I responded to a mailing where we were offered FREE... 2 round trip airline tickets, 2 nights stay at a Marriott hotel, car rental, $50 gas voucher and $30 restaurant voucher for attending a 90 minute presentation on a "discount travel" company. The presenter Phil is nothing but a b.s. er. He does not answer questions and tries to portray what he is presenting into something it is not. The presentation was full of fluff (they do not want any questions) and sounded too good to be true (when it does sound too good to be true... it is). They have individual consultants (my consultant's name supposedly is Tab??) where they seperate the people into boiler rooms where they now do everything they can to get you to sign an agreement on an offer that is only good "today". They start off at $7, 995 and move down to $5, 000 in a just a few minutes and if I didn't flat reject it so quickly they would have come down to $995. What you are paying for is of "NO VALUE". They do not tell you their last name and do not offer you a business card even after asking for one. TONY MARINELLI (I only obtained his last name by doing some investigative work) who calls himself the Sales Director again with no business card plays the slick Mr. Charmer who is a smooth talker until you start to question him on the details of this scam. He then shows his true colors by getting confrontational. He doesn't like to be questioned and then challenged on what he is offering and the fact that he is lying to your face. In fact, this is a scam and fraudulent operation and they try to distance themseves from the fraud by blaming the marketing company which is owned by the same people. STAY AWAY FROM "FIVE POINTS TAVEL", "VIP TRAVEL RESERVATIONS, INC." AND "INFINITY INCENTIVES GROUP" WHO ARE ALL IN ON THIS FRAUD TOGETHER. PLEASE DO NOT SIGN OR AGREE TO PAYING THEM ANYTHING AS YOU WILL REGRET IT. I am now turning this information over to the authorities to unravel this fraudulent operation and get convictions by fraud by deception.

My husband received his letter from Hammond Reed today.  Jackie must have lots of frequent flier miles, she's back in NJ at 973-310-9092.  Oh, and they must not be paying the teenagers who are hand addressing the envelopes.  My five year old nephew writes neater.

I may drop this at the post office and see if they'd like to follow up with these mail fraud artists.

Hi there:

Someone range my doorbell 3 times at around 7:30 in the evening.  I did not answer because I don't really care for solicitors although, I did watch her from the peep hole through my door.  She was a caucasian woman in her late 30's perhaps early 40's.  After her three attempts to get me to answer the door she left a sealed white envelope with no return address and it was nicely written.  I was surprised that it had a 42 cent stamp and it looked like the mail was metered on the bottom and top of the letter.  I thought it was odd that someone would actually personally deliver a piece of mail to mail besides the mail man/woman.  Is this legal?  Hmmmmmmm.....

I opened the letter and the stationary had the Hammond Reed (Logo) on it printed in color. It was dated on April 27th, 2009.  I received the letter today on May 05,2009.  The letter says that I need to respond no later than May 6th, 2009.  That's weird...only one day to respond..This raises several red flags already...?????

Here is what the letter actually says.

HAMMOND REED

April 27th, 2009

My name
My address

NOTE: You must respond no later than May 6th, 2009.

Dear John,

I am pleased to inform you that you have qualified for an award of 2 rountrip airline tickets.  Congratualtions.  These tickets are valid for travel anywhere in the continental US.  The retail value of this award is up to $1,400.00.  Certain restrictions apply.

We have attempted contacting you several times without success.  This is our last attempt.

If you choose to decline this award, please contact us as soon as possible so we may issue this ticket voucher to the alternate.

Please call me today at (480) 459 - 3245.

Sincerely,

Jackie Weber

VicePresident

This is the end of the letter.......................

I am going to call the local news channel here in Phoenix...Channel 3 TV On Your Side....They will investigate this further....and I will update you as I find out any more information on this solicitation.  Please advise if you have found out any information on this please.

Sincerely,

I'm in the Dallas area and today received one of the letters from Hammond Reed, signed by Jackie Weber (with a 214 area code).  Checked out the web site - looks like a teenager put it together (probably the same one that addressed the letter).  Did a web search and found this page with everyone's comments about these letters.  Mine arrived on May 8th, with a meter date of May 5th from Phoenix, the letter was dated April 27th, and it says I needed to respond no later than May 6th.  Whoops, I'm sorry Jackie but the time machine happens to be on the blink right now, so I cannot take you up on your wonderful fraudulent offer.

It's great that everyone is reporting what they are finding, so that people can see this for what it is - another fraudulent attempt to separate someone from their money.  By posting this kind of information, you make it easier for people to avoid getting taken by these scam artists.  Keep it up!

I also live in the Dallas area and just got a letter postmarked May 5,2009 from Phoenix, AZ.  The letter was dated April 30, and said to reply by May 6.  Sorry that was 2 days ago.  The phone # they used for our letter was a local area code (214).  Checked the website and it is very juvenille.  I was just unnerved by the handwritten letter with no return address.  Trying to find out who it was brought me here.  Love all the comments.  Hate for people to fall for this scam.

Please do not fall for it...  This is a scam and I am a victim from NJ.  I was stupid enough to make the purchase and did not get anything.

One more thing, Bank of America is the credit card company which I opened a new account with during the seminar, and now they refused to accept my dispute request.

This is done to protect the actual identity of the true owner. Any legitimate business is going to be more than happy to register a domain name to their corporate address and phone number. Their contacts may refer to their web host, but that is the minimum a legitimate company would do. Always check the domain name ownership of these letters.

Go Daddy is only the Domain Name Registrar. This means they do not have anything to do with the hosting or content, just the name registration. This is more than likely due to the price they charge for domain names. Go Daddy is not a villain here.

BLUEHOST.COM - Is the host and has more than likely been made aware of the nature of this customer, yet has not removed their content from the hosted servers. Are they guilty of anything, no, but questionable as a webhost will to accept an customer regardless of their intent. Contact them as well and express your displeasure. This could pressure them to remove the site.

Needless to say this is nefarious at least and for those that fall victim to these types of predators, contact the Attorney General in your State and seek prosecution as well as restitution. Contacting these individuals will only result in your not receiving a dime as well as delaying your chances to recuperate any possible compensation. The part of the scam you don't see is the magical bank account shell game they play in order to conceal funds. The sooner you report, the sooner funds are frozen and the sooner you may recoup your losses. Best solution, don't play in their sandbox. .

I received this week from the Hammond Reed company.  It was personally addressed to me (written in pen ink) and was signed in Pen Ink as well.  The letter informed me that I qualified for an award of 2 round trip airline tickets of up to $1400.00 with certain restrictions.  What this reward is for I do not know.

It also says that this is the last attempt to contact me.  I never received any other contact from this company either by email, phone or letter

It provided me a phoenix based telephone number to call so that they can issue ticket Vouchers.

What is odd is that the paper is actually signed by a real person, some Jackie Weber.

I went to their website and it is obviously fake, one of the worst websites I have ever seen.

I think that it might be a clever trick for you to give information to a creditor or maybe someone you owe money to.

I would not respond to this letter.  VERY SHADY!
