I'm posting this here because while the caller is calling from another number they claim to be Wakefield Associates....There was an unknown call to my 15 yr-old son's cell phone.  They did leave a message stating they were calling from Wakefield Associates, they are a debt collector and it is important that the call be returned.  I called them to find who and/or why they were calling my son's cell phone.  They gave me a name and I explained that my son has had the number for the last two years and asked that they remove the number from their records.  She said they would...waiting to see if they are going to call again.  

The number they left on voice mail was 1-800-864-3870

over several years I have had the joy of having a number that previously belonged to a person who owes monies ..I've  told companies its the wrong person..finally blocked calls and now...I got these Bozos this
morning ..Looked it up to see who or what they were but ...often they harass the wrong party...And I changed my number once only  to get another number that had a bad debt person ...think this phone collection method needs to be illegal ...My phone company has an option to block so will add this to my list but sad this has become the norm even ....if its not your debt..

Yes, that is what I thought just be polite and try to settle the debt like human beings but the person I talked to was very rude right before she hung up on me as I was inquiring about a possible payment plan.  Like I can't believe that an adult who is at work, expected to act professionally, would actually talk to another adult the way she talked to me.  I am currently laid off but willing to settle the debt, but I won't deal with such an unprofessional company.  Their is no excuse for that type of behavior whatsoever.

This number calls all the time and its never for me when I do answer and when I dont they leave voicemails that sound as if they have the phone out the car window

This person is harassing me.  Same sort of thing that other people have said on this site.  I wish that I could block the number, but I can't.  I was in a car accident and the insurance company took about nine months to pay all the bills and now this person is calling even though all the bills have been paid now.  I think I will report them to the FTC.

Got a call from them today, called back, just got an automated system, hung up after a few moments and called back.  A women answered said wakefield and associates whats your name, I told her my first name and then asked why she was calling.  She demanded my lastname, i asked why she called, and all she called saying was "whats your lastname" i told her i wouldnt give it to her until she told me why.  Then she hung up on me.  I called verizon, my phone provider, who advised me to call the police! If anyone gets these calls its a scam! call your local police department and report them, that is the only way they will stop!

These days you really can't deal with this type of thing over the phone.  There is no way to be sure you are talking to a real company or a scammer spoofing their number.

This number calls me all the time saying I owe as well I was starting to get scared but i see this same number is harrassing many other people!! Ugh they stink!

I got calls from this number everyday.  Wish it would stop, have a ill person trying to rest.

I am so glad I found this!!!  These people have called my home multiple times (and I have only had this new number for less than a month now) relentlessly!!!!   They claim that someone of the same name as myself owes an ER bill dating back to 2003.  I told them they had the wrong person and then the RUDEA$$ representative proceeded to tell me that I would have to prove that it is not my bill otherwise 'they' were going to proceed accordingly as if it were my debt.  Kiss off!!!  I dont have to prove a darn thing!!!  The person they are looking for shares only the same first name and last name, wrong middle initial, wrong birthdate, and even the address was wrong.  Thought about changing my phone number just to avoid the harrassing calls but I shouldnt have to inconvenience myself because of these rude people.

First of all "lien" not lean. 2nd NO... third parties cannot put a "lien" on your home!   Learn your rights and do not let them badger you!   They prey on people who do not understand the laws and their rights!

Your response is lame, you cant do anything but continue to call, then once you have no sucess it will be forwarded to another agency with a lower settlement percentage. Lets be real here. I did collections for 10 years, consumer and commercial and honestly your threats are empty. Its your $8 an hour paycheck really worth the threats or do you truly get off on making people feel like they are losing something.

Excuse me?  "A legal attempt to collect a debt"?  What if there IS no debt?  Do they still have the right to continually call and harass me?  They never say whom they are representing as the debt origination which I find odd, especially since I don't owe anyone anything.  So - really - who is pathetic?  The person harassing for an imaginary debt?  Or the person being harassed?

Several calls. Line quiet. No recording and no person on the line. I called the number back after the harrasment annoyance persisted. Received recording indicating the parties extention was on the phone. Calls appeared to be made by an unattended autodialer. We are on the donot call list. Decided to call the police. I hope this telemarketer goes to Jail!

I have a debt I have been paying with NCO financial. They have been able to help me with my debt where others have failed. I just have to pay them off. But you people who go on, blah blah blah, all about harassment and calling the police are pathetic. It's a legal attempt to collect a debt and they are doing nothing wrong. Shove it.

They have called me for about a month now, leaving recorded messages for me to call them back, which I don't as I am not in debt or overdue on any payments. (I looked them up, of course, as I try to do any unknown number). I tried to block tehm, but for some reason they keep being able to leave messages.

The recorded message says something on the order of "we are not telemarketers, it is very important you call us back. Your phone number will be your account."

Looking at the history of the various numbers they use 303-302-4110, 4111, 4112 in '07, and now 4114, it appears they are number hopping to not get caught.

Thye have called me on Sudays, too.

Have never recieved a call from this number before, but they left no message and called me 5 times today (the earliest around 4am).  Today being Sunday December 7, 2008

Called back the number, got a lady on the line looking for two people who dont live here. i beleive the reason they auto-dial and hang up or not answer is to get you interested enough to call them back, if you called them there not harrassing you lol
