They wanted money to fund Al-Queda of America. I told them to screw off. Fought in Afghan - I hate these people.
ddubbs 2012-07-18 20:37:39 Unknown
I wouldn't give a dime to any University. They are overfunded as it is.
CU ALUMNI 2012-01-30 05:23:04 Unknown
It sounds as if you are the spoiled recipient of the trust fund! To be so degrading to someone you don't know is completely asinine on your part. You come across as a pompous meathead who is angry to have never made it through college. I worked for the University of Colorado in various functions. I was not a trust fund kid, and a majority of fellow students who also worked at the University were not trust funded - we had to work. Your little rant showed not only a lack of intelligence, but it also demonstrated you know little to nothing about real world experiance. I worked my throughout my entire education at CU, and came from a poor home with no free ride and no guaranteed job waiting. However, seeing the kind of person you are, I'm fairly certain you will have some idiotic come back for me as well. It is you who should learn to keep your comments to yourself. They are going to get you in trouble in the real world. Also, they make you sound weak and very pathetic.

Bunch of scammers. Identified as possible terrorists.

HA!! Today was literally my last day of classes and this number called me. They think I have a job and money already?
CU Alum 2011-09-26 14:27:22 Unknown
I just added this number to my phone as "CU Asking for More $". They chose to call me 3 times over the weekend... no thanks.
another cu alum 2011-09-25 20:59:08 Unknown
When I was a student I very briefly worked for the CU parent foundation (the organization making these calls. They also call alums). Believe it or not it's one of highest paid unskilled student jobs on campus. I decided pretty quickly that I wasn't a salesman and found a better job. The people who work there are mostly freshmen or sophomores looking for an easy job. Even with the decent pay the turnover rate is very high.
They are looking for money to fund various things such as tutoring, intramural sports, scholarships, etc. Apparently as high as tuition is now it still isn't enough to fund all of those things. The whole operation is very inefficiently run and often barely takes in more money than it spends.
If you ignore the calls they'll keep at it. If you answer and tell them not to bother you they'll wait a few months and then start calling again.
DH 2011-06-06 20:44:57 Unknown
I did not answer, but the above explanation is possible, as I am a CU alumnus. I have gotten these calls before, years ago, and they are usually begging for money.

"I know these calls are annoying, but you should really have some sympathy for the students who work there (and all the kids who work there are students, just like you used to be). I was employed by the call center for about a month last summer and it was the most miserable job I ever had. I used to feel almost sick walking into that place for a shift, knowing ahead of time how hostile all the people will be once I get them on the phone."
Are you kidding me? Are you some trust fund b***h that's never worked a hard day in your life? I'm sure daddy paid for college and he's got a sweet job lined up for you when you're ready to work. People like you SHOULD be giving back. Keep your comments to yourself. It's going to get you in trouble with the real world.

Receieved one phone call from this number, no message left, I'm also a CU alum.
magtart 2011-06-06 20:44:57 Unknown
I just got a call from this number on my cell. I don't know why they are calling me as I never went to college in CO and I live in TX.
yet another CU alum 2011-06-06 20:44:57 Unknown
I get the purpose for calling. However, I am sick of receiving calls and being hung up on. Repeatedly. On the "Do Not Call" list I go.
Kate 2011-06-06 20:44:57 Unknown
I never went to this school...but they keep calling me. This is a new number so, I am wondering if the person who had this number before me went to that school. They call me every night around 8:30 pm Central Time.
cugrad 2011-06-06 20:44:57 Unknown
I agree people should not be hostile, I can't imagine having to deal with grumpy people at dinner time. HOWEVER, I really think CU should re-evaluate who they are calling. I graduated in May of 09... needless to say I dont have a job that has gotten me so financially stable that I have excess money to give to my university. When a CU diploma can get me a great paying job, I will give back... Call me in 10 years....
illusivenick 2011-06-06 20:44:57 Unknown
This number is owned by University of Colorado Foundation Call Center, where students call alums. I'm not sure what questions they ask. As I do not answer unknown numbers.
John 2011-06-06 20:44:57 Unknown
This number calls me constantly trying to get me to join the army.
If you hang up on them, they will call you back continuously.
Fellow CU Alum 2011-06-06 20:44:57 Unknown
You should answer the phone and tell them that you cannot or will not give. If you do, they will stop calling. If you just ignore the calls, they will assume you are not home and keep calling.
CU alum 2011-06-06 20:44:57 Unknown
I got a call from this number a few weeks ago. As a CU Alum from the J-School, they were asking me for $$ for a journalism scholarship.
CU ALUM 2011-06-06 20:44:57 Unknown
Begging for money to support professors like Ward Churchill.
U of CO Alum 2011-06-06 20:44:57 Unknown
I have recieved calls from this number almost daily for two weeks. Makes sense that it is a U of CO call center... I was a student there... Wish they'd stop
Mahukona 2011-06-06 20:44:57 Unknown
I am also a CU alum. Gave once - now wish I didn't as they keep calling.
killa 2011-06-06 20:44:57 Unknown
You're a douche.

I know these calls are annoying, but you should really have some sympathy for the students who work there (and all the kids who work there are students, just like you used to be). I was employed by the call center for about a month last summer and it was the most miserable job I ever had. I used to feel almost sick walking into that place for a shift, knowing ahead of time how hostile all the people will be once I get them on the phone. It was truly a crushing experience and you should have compassion for the people who have to work there.
Here are three additional things to keep in mind: CU really does need money, particularly since the state's funding of the university is pathetic (Colorado is near the bottom or at the bottom of the list of state funding for higher education--CU gets something like 10 percent of its funding from the state). Moreover, the fact that CU once employed Ward Churchill doesn't mean that you should never give money again to an otherwise noble institution (at least in many respects it's noble). Yeah, you may not like Ward Churchill, but you shouldn't deprive someone of a scholarship because of this fact (assuming that you can even give in the first place, which may or may not be the case).
Secondly, you only need to answer the phone and decline to give money if you want them to stop calling for awhile. Fellow CU Alum, who posted in August of 2008, is right: the calling machine assumes your not home when you don't answer and reenters your number into the list of places to call. After the funding period is over (once every six months or year), you'll get called again, and if you still can't give, just tell them that and you won't be called for awhile. If you really can't stand the calls, you can be removed from the calling list, which is really easy to do.
Third, the center calls for other reasons besides money. The alum association needs to stay in contact with former students to send them a quarterly newsletter. This requires updating addresses and email.
Annoyed by this number 2011-06-06 20:44:57 Unknown
Do I need to actually answer the call and tell them to remove me from the list, or is there a passive aggressive way to do it?
I gave CU tuition for 8 glorious years, they're getting all they're going to get from me.
CU Alum as well 2011-06-06 20:44:57 Unknown
Phone rang, I answered, they hung up. I have been called repeatedly by this number in the past. At least they just hung up this time!
LB 2011-05-27 21:04:04 Unknown
Called the number back and it was the University of Colorado Foundation Call Center line - soliciting for donations from alumni.

It's CU soliciting money. I sent an email to: info@cufund.org
I told them not to call my number again.
I told them that they never had permission in the first place.
I told them that I filed a complaint.
They haven't call again!

CU Boulder is the caller. Why does anyone think phone calls are an effective way at soliciting donations? It is very rude and annoying. Send out an email or letter, do not call me and hang up without a message dozens of times making me wonder who is doing this.
TK 2011-05-10 22:47:40 Unknown
Didn't answer - no message- and I am a CU- boulder alumni also.
