Non-profit Organization
I have been getting calls from this group most of this year.   Never a message left, and if you pick up, there is the typical "autodialer" dead air before a person is on the line.   Have no idea what organization they are trying to collect for.    I never make donations to anyone who calls me  !!!

Telemarketer
Don't donate a penny to Telefund Inc. or any other fundraising telemarketer. The majority of the money raised goes to the executives who run these outfits -- hardly ANY goes to the charities. These loophole scams should be outlawed. Work is underway in California to prohibit this type of ripoff, but it really should be banned in EVERY state.

I just recently purchased a call blocker from Digitone.  It wasn't cheap ($100) but it works great and I have my privacy back.  Just double tap the block button and the annoyance caller is gone forever.  If I don't recognize the number and they don't leave a message, they get the double tap (blocked).   Sometimes I check 800 notes just to verify the number is not wanted.  I have it set up to ring once just so I know my money was well spent (It can be set up to block the call without ringing at all).  It is nice to know that their electronic auto-dialer is talking to my electronic call blocker :-)
If you've had it with solicitation calls (we all know the DNC list is useless - what a waste of taxpayer money) this is the only way to go.  Check out their website (Digitone.com).

I don't answer my phone for numbers I don't know and I was thinking maybe I had a stalker - what with the calling and calling but never leaving a message (10 calls since June 20th).  But finally I googled the number and came across this forum.

Well, I've called the number back and left my number on the voicemail for removal.  Fingers crossed it works.  I also mentioned in my message that if some other company starts calling it will be obvious that they've sold it on.

It appears this is the telefund number in Denver, CO and they are fundraisers for a number of liberal causes including the DNC.  The problem with giving through a phone solicitor is almost universally the telephone solicitor takes about 80 percent or more (usually more) of the money you "donate."

Subsequently, that organization then gets your name and usually follows-up with their own fundraising requests.  Nothing illegal about this but most of your money probably goes to Telefund and not the cause.  So, as a general matter you should never give money via telephone solicitation to an organization charitable, political or otherwise because your money doesn't actually get to the cause, it goes to the fundraiser, in this case Telefund.

Support the charities and causes you believe in, but make sure they get the money.  I recommend going to the American Institute of Philanthropy AIP website for more information on giving.  They are the only really good charity and political fundraising group in the country.  That's because they do real analysis, not fake analysis like the Better Business Bureau of the other internet group that just posts their tax filing.  Tax filings don't tell you squat about what's really going on.  AIP knows and gives good charity and other fundraising advice to donors.

What's all the fuss about?  They represent non-profit and political organizations and are therefore exempt from the DNC registry.  Just pick up the phone and tell them, to f#%< 0ff!  Works for me!

According to Section 227(a)(1) of the 1991 Telephone Consumer Protection Act, it is illegal to call a cell phone using an autodialer...other than for emergency purposes or after expressed consent. The caller is subject to a $5,000 fine per accidental instance and $15,000 per non-accidental instance. Answer your phone and let them know that you will not accept their calls. Ask for an employee number and then ask to speak to the floor supervisor

@private caller:

"One way to defeat liberals is to collect their money and give it to the opposition."

Which opposition? Al-q'aida? The Taliban? The neo-Nazis?

As long as their are hateful regressives, liberalism will not be defeated. As long as the US stands tall, liberty/liberalism will not be defeated. (If you live there and are whingeing about liberalism, you might consider moving to a conservative nation like Saudi Arabia...)

Oh, no message from this caller...  clearly they enjoy our liberal capitalism...

Okay, I finally called them.  (They've been calling once a day for a week.)  I got an automated message that told me they are a telemarketer in Denver, and that they work on behalf of charities to which I've given in the past.  I waited around for a while and heard that if I wanted to be taken off the call list, to dial 4 and leave my number.  I did so.

If I "don't get no satisfaction," I'll be back to report.

If you call their number there's an option for letting your remove your phone number from their call list.  They are Telefund, a call center working for many clients.  While they are a "legitimate" business, their relentless calling, blocked caller ID, and practice of not leaving messages makes for execrable business practices and can't be doing their clients much good.

I'd like to see state-by-state and federal legislation that would put some really sharp teeth into the Do Not Call Registry. The organizations that are exempt from Do Not Call (non-profits, political campaigns, political action groups/committees, and any business/corporation or subsidiary with which you have ever had even a single transaction) are the very organizations that have nothing to lose by violating our privacy in service of their own gain. And the other violators simply route their auto-dialers through VOIP servers in Somalia; at which point it becomes an international issue. I believe that the only effective action would be a grass-roots effort to persuade individuals who are targeted (every US citizen with a telephone number) to avow - publicly - that they will never do business with, or contribute to, any organization/business that solicits by telephone, the USPS, or electronic mail. Perhaps the real criminal profiteers here (ISP/email servers, bulk mail providers, telephone services) would get the message and charge us a ridiculously high monthly charge to eliminate all wasteful communication/harassment.

These people call nearly every day, until late at night, but never leave a message.  My caller ID says Telefund Inc.  It's extremely annoying to constantly have the phone ring, especially when doing things that require quiet time.

Just pick up the phone, or call them back and politely ask them to stop. It will take you 10 seconds. It's your responsibility to let non-profits know you don't want them to call back, as they are exempt from the national Do Not Call list.

I called them back, and they were very direct and politely explained they they do call on behalf of non-profits. The person I spoke to sounded like a real human being, and was happy to take my name off the list. There is no problem here, and as far as I'm concerned this number is a non-issue.

This number has called me many times (yesterday 4 times) never leaving a message or simply hanging up. On my called ID it shows the name of "Telefund". The same name also calls from the following number: (212) 777-3456, as well as: (617) 482-6882. This type of behavior is tantamount to Harrassment.
