The real problem Chris is your obviously not charging enough. Take a look at the cost guide it tells you how much a project is going for and what home owners are paying for that job to be done. And as far as your leads go. The only way you losing money is cause your taking on too much. You control how many leads you take. It?s simple. And closing 3 out of 10 it a good ratio.

So tell me Dan. how are you getting your guaranteed jobs now? Let me guess.....word of mouth and you don?t use any marketing and you have been in business for 12 + years and you only use word of mouth. The reason why it didn?t work was prolly cause you can?t sell yourself and you expected guarantee jobs. That?s prolly why it didn?t work for you cause you don?t know how to talk to home owners.

I also worked as a contractor through Service Magic . Dan is correct in  his information. As an independent contractor, I made very little money working for Service Magic because they charge for every lead that is sent to you. I called them and complained about the ratio of sold jobs to leads (about 1/3) and they said that was about average! It doesn't take a genius to figure out you are losing money if you are paying for 3 leads and closing one. In addition to that, the amount charged varies by job size and type.

I've used Service Magic to hire contractors and as  professional myself.  It's been a good experience for me on both sides.  Nothing is perfect....many of my leads are not really applicable for my service, however, I get a very good return for my money.  So far, I continue to use them for both.  The complaints are interesting.  It shows me not to discount something in general, just because there are some people who complain.  Some people are just a royal pain, who wouldn't know value if it hit them in the head.

Service Magic is a company you, as a consumer, CHOOSE TO USE to find qualified contractors.  It doesn't mean you shouldn't use your good sense to make a good decision.

This was a legitimate call.  I had gone online at Service Magic to find service contractor in the area.  This was a call to follow up and thank me for using Service Magic.  (by the way...  I have used them before and they do a good job.  This was the first follow-up call I received.)

these s.o.b's call me every FREAKING 5 MINUTES AND MY WIFE AND I DNT EVEN KNOW HOW THEY GOT MY NUMBER....ALL THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS AND THEY SUCK

Some nut contractors stay with this outfit but Real Pros in any city have dumped them.

I just quit Service Magic as a professional person. They just called me from this number every three minutes 3-times. The line just beeps. I don't know what they are doing but I am going to block their number. You all don't know it but they charge me for leads. Every time you all put in a request, they give the lead to three contractors and charge all three for the lead. Then the contractors try to sell the job to you. Most of the leads are not good ones. People play around just looking for information and we get charged. That stinks!

How are they a rip off company???  I didn't have to give them any information other than what was wrong in my home and a contact number.  I didn't have to provide them with any bank account or credit card....whatever....research what your saying before you say it.

I had put in a request for a plumber on line this morning.  This gentleman called me to follow up making sure that my request was answered and if I needed any more help.  It was from Service Magic.  I had ZERO problems with them.  One of the contractors they put me in touch with called me back within 10 minutes of putting in my request.

I didn't know who it was so I didn't answer. Now, looking it up....great, now I'm going to get unwanted phone calls on my cell?

I was once a Contractor hooked up with them and it was a gross mistake.  They are crooked, mismanaged, and unprofessional.

This number calls me in spurts of every three minutes with a run of three calls with scratchy noise or beeps.

We received a call from this number at 11:00 at night.  Didn't answer or leave a message.

Got a number I didn't know from outsid our area code. I didn't know the number until comming here. It's about the handyman I wanted to hire by Service Magic. Talk about quick response! I just filled out the form!!

why are they calling me

got a call from 303-963-7200 they find contractors and remodelers. I requested estimates on line and they immediately had a handful of willing contractors call me to set up times for estimates. I would say there is nothing to worry about the company being illegitimate.

Caller ID came up on my cell. I didn't answer it b/c it was a number that I did not recognized. I googledd the phone # and this site popped up.   WARNING--I had heard on a local radio today that there is a scam out that like this.  According to the radio, if you call back the number you might get a charge for the call.  So don't call back.

I have received 2 calls from 313-963-7200, did not answer and got no message.  I am going to block it.
