Received an unsolicited text message to my cell phone today telling me that my account at the Credit union of Ohio had been suspended for security reasons and to call 305-433-7563 to reactivate my account.

1) I have worked in the credit union industry for 20 years and we don't do things like this -and-
2) I don't have an account at Credit Union of Ohio -and-
3) I personally know the CEO of the credit union!

For giggles I used a different phone to call the number and got a very badly done automated voice telling me that I had reached ****FEDERAL CREDIT UNION (CofO is not a federal credit union)and that they needed my credit card number, my SSN and my date of birth to reactivate my account.

Evidently the credit union has been slammed by a phising scheme.

Damn these people and their weak a** scheme - DAMN THEM TO HELL!

My husband also was contacted today on his cell phone, by this same exact number.  He did not call it, I told him I wanted to do some research first.  THANK GOD FOR THE INTERNET.

Just got the text as well. 2:57pm on Aug 19.  I got suspicious because I had never heard of the Credit Union of Ohio.  I'm going to call my bank about this.

Yes, I received the same message on my cell phone this morning.  The thing I love about this is that credit unions are typically a local company and they are asking you to call a Miami, Florida number!  Unbelievable!!!

I got a text also - mine came in at 3:16am 8/20

I got this text at 3:30 a.m. today. The Credit Union of Ohio does exist, but the texts aren't coming from them. Here's the repsonse on their website: Attention Members: Fraud Alert  
A fraudulent text message and a fraudulent voicemail was sent claiming to be from Credit Union of Ohio and reported that "services were suspended for suspicious activity or fraud activity."  These scams do not involve a breach of security--your Credit Union of Ohio accounts are secure.  Do not respond to this message.  Credit Union of Ohio does not contact members via text messaging, e-mail or by phone regarding suspended accounts or account verification.  If you are a member at Credit Union of Ohio and responded to the scam messages, please contact us at 614-487-6650 (toll-free 800-443-5698).  If you are not a member, but gave your information, you should contact your financial institution immediately.

I recieved a text from data@cuofohio.org saying the same thing as above....at 3:44 in the morning!

I knew it had to be fake (what company texts important info such as this?) but I admit i was freaked out at first since I'm in the process of trying to fund a return to college!

Recieved a text msg on my cell from the same number. It stated my acct was suspended due to fradulent activity. I have never heard of cuofohio so it was not hard to figure out it was a hoax.

I received the same text message 8/19 at 2:57PM. I didn't call the number and figured it was a scam. How do they get away with this crap?!

I recieved a text @4am today. At first I freaked out then I re read the text and knew right away something was wrong.

How do these jerk-offs benefit from sending these bogus txts? They need to get a life or just crawl back to their corner to play with themselves and leave people alone!

I also received a test from these people and was suspicious due to the number being a Florida phone number for Credit Union of Ohio.
