Same call everyone else got.  They told me to call a number after I said that I wanted it via mail.  He told me my name and address.  Then he said that he could give me the 7000.00 via bank account, something else, or western union.  So I said western union.  He gave me a name and number to contact a women at for the western union account to pick it up at and no one answered.  I am inclined to agree about this with everyone else here.  And more than anger, is I keep falling for it.  Sometimes, the belief that something good can happen is just not in the cards.

I also want to know why he knew that I have not filed for bankruptcy....he kept asking the question so I guess I DID tell him.

Just got a call similar to this too...It was from 828-303-5558 with $8500 offer and they wanted bank account or credit card info. Asked for number to call them back 202-448-3394 and it was disconnected. Scam!

Offering me 8000.00 b/c I was single n never had a criminal record sound so stupid but the best part came when he said I had make a charity deposit of  120.00 moneyorder so my response was ok am working call u later ... (I also received a call from 2025027560. Telling me I had be given a grant. I told them I knew it to be a scam. I also indicated I work for a goverment enity. He gave me a number to call but I have not called it. instead I googled the scam. Guess what it is very widespread.

I got the same phone call. When I told the lady who I could barely understand that I did not have a bank account or credit card she said that they would mail the funds to me for a $160 fee. I then proceeded to tell the woman that I was not giving anyone money to receive money! People and their scams today! the sad part is that many people fall for these scams and get screwed in the process.

I just got phone call from some one in "US government grand department". As per her i qualify to receive 7000 bucks since i pay taxes in time, and haven't filed for bankrupcy. She wanted my accout number. please do not fall for these low life bas**rds. I told them to donate my money to red corss.

OMG, I am so surprise this type of call in USA.  I heard a lot of in Taiwan from news.  

I just receive one this morning saying his name is Cody from USA Federal Grand Government - address is 200 Independent Ave, Washington DC 20201, but won't give me his call back number.  Same amount of money $7000 and asking for account# to deposit.  Luckily I know to hang up at the end and find your website.  Thanks for sharing your story!

Why government let this thing happen in USA?  This guy sounds from India or automated, foreign for sure with very noisy background.  How they get our phone numbers?

Just got a call from 916234434520 spoke to a lady who work for the US Dept of treasury, stated she will deposit 7000.00 in my bank account in 45 minutes. She prompted me to call James Miller for confirmation, my confirmation code was ya335, and his number is 202.905.0682. Hung up and advised me to all back once I western union 199.00. Joke. kenyatta

I just got the same phone call 5 minutes ago, saying that I will receive a $7000 pell grant via a credit card...what a flippin' scam!!!

I received a call just moments ago for $7000 in "Free" grant money. (515) 354-5411 from VA and
(630) 893-9893 from IL. Call back and both are disconnected. They definitely sound like there not from America.

I got the same kind of call today they said ther were from the treasury grant office and I ask the guy so you work for the Treasury dept. he said yes and continued to tell me that I was picked alod with 1500 other veterans to receive a gran because of my time that i served in the armed foces of the united states and wanted my bank info and all that even gave me a call back number of 202-370-7640 for a gary taylor but the guy that answered wasn't any Gary taylor he sound like an person fro India or far east.

i just got the same call just now, the number was from new york and then another from washington dc, they give it away that its a scam cause theyre nothing but indian accented people... im not trying to offend anyone or dont want anybody to get offended by this but i dnt think the u.s. treasury is made up of them people...

got a call from this number.  saying i qualify for a $7000.00 government grant from the government.  after talking for about 10 minutes, i figured it out to be a scam.  nothing is free in this world but our life.  so you jerks will not be getting me to tell you any account numbers or credit card numbers either.  the other number is 202-657-5357: the call back number and grant confirmation# line.  they hung up on me after i told them i don't feel confortable giving out my bank info and to just send it to my mailing address and all i got was a hang up on me.  just happen like 30 minutes ago.  scammers scammers scammers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.................................

Just got the same call from Brian Williams, strangest accent for such a "standard name". with the same 7000 "awarded to me from the US Treasury." call back number and processing fee of 99 via western union.... WTF?

Just got the same call from Jaquelline Smith (123-456-7898) from US Treasury Grants Dept. she said I was awarded $7,000.00 but don't spend on gambling or drinking. She told me to call Andy Richards at 202-407-7229 so he could transfer the money. He had all my info. He said I needed to go to Western Union and wire $100.00 and then he would be able to transfer my money within 45min to my credit card which he had the info. (I reported the card as stolen as soon as I got off phone with him.)
I was sure it was a hoax so I called the US Treasury Dept. fraud division (202) 622-2000. A lady answered an I asked for the Grants Dept. she said there is no Grants Dept. I told her what had happened and she put me through to the Secret Service Dept. He said yes it was a hoax and to report to local police. I told him it was small town and nothing would be done. He said it was just so I would have the report on file in case they misused my information. He also said to notify my cc and banks. I called Andy back and gave him a piece of my mind and told him that I had reported him. He didn't have anything to say.

I got the same nonsense but from a lady named "Christy Caster" who called from (234) 789-859 (at least this is what my phone showed as the number).  Same bs about $7000 for free because I'm a good taxpayer. She hung up on me before I had a chance to flame her, but she told me more than once that she was calling from the US Treasury department and that this was not a sales call.

I just received the same call.Gave them an account that only allows deposits and when he told me i had to pay $99 and i said NO he hung up on me!!  This is crazy.

I just got done with a fraud call exactly like this, told me that I could use the $7,000 for anything I wanted and told me all I had to do was send them $199 via Western Union.  Explain to me if I am getting free money then why is it that I have to pay them??  Do they think all Americans are stupid or what?  It really irks me that people can get away with stuff like this and not get caught because they just transfer the lines to anywhere in or outside of the U.S.  When you look up the number on whitepages.com it even comes up that it is based in Washington, D.C.  Just the fact that they all speak with such heavy accents should be a red flag to anyone that they don't work for the government, at least in any part of the treasury department.  Plus the background noise was so loud on the call I had to ask the lady to repeat herself I don't know how many times.

got a call from 202 621 0276 five times tonite wanting to give me 7000.00 in  grant money ....guys name is max stevens  call back code is RS003...........

I just received the same phone scam, the gentleman told me his name was mr. stevens and he worked for the treasury. Like the past posters I was asked for personnal info and then disconnected the call. I just reported it to my local police department. I doubt anything will come out of it.

I also got a call from a Mary Johnson with an indian accent say that i was choosen for a 7000.00 grant. She gave me a name and a number to call to confirm, and that number was 202-621-0256 and 202-621-0602. And they also gave a confirmation number as well. So be ware these people are frauds.

This guy called me, looking for the wrong person who is listed under my phone numer, when I told him that the person he's looking for doesn't live at this nomber anymore, he quickly asked for the person(which is myself) to whom the nuber belongs to.  I told him, "that is I, and what do you want"?  He theen tried to tell me he was from the Federal Gov., and he wanted to tell me about some grants that I quailfy for.  I quickly aborted his spill and told him that I've worked for several departments at the Federal bldg. out here in CA, and that I never here of them soliciting grants over the phone,  I asked what was his name, telephone #, extention, and who is his supervisers, because this needs to be verified.  He quickly got upset and start asking ," If I was a NIGGER, and was I a fecal chaser", and then proceded to call me Nigger fags, in a foriegn language (which he did take the time to tell me).  I hung up on him right after I told him that if he continued to call me, he will go to jail......

Guy on the phone claims that we qualify for a $7000 grant! My husband asked if we would have to pay it back? They said no!! Only thing they say they needed was an account number so that it could be direct deposited to our account! Tried to call back and the number has been disconnected!!
