I got a message from a Sophia Demonte, saying I had 5-7 business days or I will be served from her and 6 other of her locaters, to either my job or work. Then they left a message to my sister, saying the same,... first of all my sister has no idea... so i told her to delete her message... Also, sophia stated that I had been notified and that my court case number she left, but I called the court and there is no such thing... so I was wondering if anyone knew how we stop these people harassing me... One time i got a call and I anwered becasue the number was local... then I said what is the company name but the person kept saying to fast... then she transferred me to a third party and i said who is this.. and then the lady says first i need to ask your last four of your social and i said no i dont give that out, and if you are a debt collector you would have a reference number.. or at least give me a name of the creditor... but then she didnt want to give it to me so i hung up...
if anyway can reply to me.. whats the worst these people can do.. or is it illegal for them to harass you..

I just received a message on my voicemail for someone else from this Sophia Demonte. She stated the other person's name and that they would be served at their place of work and/or home by herself personally and by some other people. I felt very threatened by this call as I was not the person they were looking for, and my wife and I are old, disabled people. I don't know how they got my cell phone number, but the name of the person they were attempting to reach was not me. She did not give a company name, just "here at the agency". Now, I feel like some thugs might visit my home, even though they were looking for someone else.

Contact the company from whom you got your loan, Tell them what is going on and that you are being scammed. Ask them to verify that the loan is paid, and to please send you a letter in writing, on their stationery that will validate your claim that the particular loan in question was in fact paid, and that there are no other outstanding loans in your name. Then Tell the person calling you that you have written validation of its payment, and to get lost.

I am glad I found this page, just like the rest of you all I had a voicemail saying I had several charges and was going to be served with papers. I called them and even set up a payment arrangement with them as I was worried it was true. But after reading this I cancelled my credit card and they won't see a time till I get this validated and if proven I will pay the company directly. Thanks all!

Got a message at my mother's house stating that they had just received a summons on their desk this morning regarding 2 civil charges against me. They proceeded to threaten to come to my place of work and/or home to serve me. Oddly, the woman then said I had just been officially served (which cannot be done over the phone). She gave a reference number and the callback number of 855/609-7626. The arrogant sounding b**ch then had the audacity to say "Good luck, sir." I called the number and couldn't reach a live person, but the recording informed me that I had reached sunridge recovery. I checked with the better business bureau and found that they are not BBB accredited and had received an 'F' rating. Googled them and could not find a website. Instead, I found this site. Thank you for confirming my suspicions. Thank you.

I wish I had read the post about this company before I spoke with them. They threatened to serve me at my employer. They sent me an email that wasunprofessional, then I googled them.
annie 2012-08-28 14:28:17 Unknown
They want you to call that number so they can try to scare you into giving them your banking info by pretending you owe someone money and have a court case so that they can steal your money. THIS IS A SCAM. You will not be taken to court-they are trying to steal your money. Ignore them. They will not serve you. They've said that to me at least a dozen times and they never do, because they are not legitimate. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY FINANCIAL INFO.
jane 2012-08-28 14:23:43 Unknown
This is such a joke, I've been getting calls like this for years and nobody EVER serves you anything. Ever! They won't serve you. Don't let them scare you! I thought it was hilarious that I asked Sophia DeMonte where her office was located, and she said the name of the town I live in, but PRONOUNCED IT WRONG. HAHAHA. Blow off these calls.

I received a call from Sophia Demonte stating I would be served within 2 business days at my place of employment. The message she left made no mention of the company she was calling on behalf of. She provided a case # and asked me to contact (855) 609-7626 and reference the case #. If I fail to contact the number given she would then see me within 2 days and I must provide (2) forms of identification. Are you serious you want me to follow-up with a number and she didn't even provide her contact #. Not today nor any other day will I fall for this nonsense.

I received a call from this number 855-609-7626 and a lady named Sophia Demonte (said she was a PCS Investigator) called and said she wanted to serve me with legal documents for MMG/Holiday Group. This was a payday loan and it was paid. She said that I would need to appear in court or an attorney present. What do I do? I have already paid this loan?

Scared the ish out of me at 8am! Wth! I was wondering what the hell did I do! If yall say it's sunridge I don't even know who that is!

Received a call from a "Sophia Demonte" from PCS Locator Division stating she received an order of process on her desk about me - and to not be alarmed if I see 5-6 men come to my employer or home because they are only delivering the order of process - this is crazy! I do not have any outstanding loans that would go to collections - when I call back she is not available. This is SCAM and I will report to FCC

Had a missed call on my cell phone of 716-504-3155 and they left a voice mail stating they are Sunridge Recovery and need to talk to me re: an item that has been returned by my bank and left a file number to reference and want me to call 1-855-606-7626. I have no idea who they are or what they want, and after reading these posts not sure if I will call back, except I don't want the calls to continue. But I can tell you once I call they will get nothing until the debt is validated if there is one and then I'm sending a no contact order and forwarding a copy of that letter to the Attorney General's office. If this is a legitimate debt then I will be contacting the original company first before I pay.

What practices are off limits for debt collectors?
Harassment. Debt collectors may not harass, oppress, or abuse you or any third parties they contact. For example, they may not:
use threats of violence or harm;
publish a list of names of people who refuse to pay their debts (but they can give this information to the credit reporting companies);
use obscene or profane language; or
repeatedly use the phone to annoy someone.
False statements. Debt collectors may not lie when they are trying to collect a debt. For example, they may not:
falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives;
falsely claim that you have committed a crime;
falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company;
misrepresent the amount you owe;
indicate that papers they send you are legal forms if they aren?t; or
indicate that papers they send to you aren?t legal forms if they are.
Debt collectors also are prohibited from saying that:
you will be arrested if you don?t pay your debt;
they?ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the action and intend to do so; or
legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don?t intend to take the action.
Debt collectors may not:
give false credit information about you to anyone, including a credit reporting company;
send you anything that looks like an official document from a court or government agency if it isn?t; or
use a false company name.
Unfair practices. Debt collectors may not engage in unfair practices when they try to collect a debt. For example, they may not:
try to collect any interest, fee, or other charge on top of the amount you owe unless the contract that created your debt ? or your state law ? allows the charge;
deposit a post-dated check early;
take or threaten to take your property unless it can be done legally; or
contact you by postcard.

First of all you can NEVER be served over the phone!! Second even if they are collecting for a pay day loan they can not legally threaten you or scare you into paying!! These people are scams if you do owe a pay day loan I suggest you go to the source and pay it these people could still be scamming you saying your paying off the loan but in reality they have picked up your very public info and know exactly what debts you owe and you are paying the scammers and not the real loan. Obviously the way this so called company calls you 20 times in a row and get obscene and rude they are in no way shape or form a legit professional business. Be careful who you give your personal info to!!
Stefanie 2012-06-29 15:34:00 Debt Collector
Sunridge called me because of a pay day one loan that I owe on. They told me that they wanted to work with me so I wouldn't be served any papers. They set me up on a reasonable monthly payment plan. I can also work with only one person there instead of being tossed around between 10 different people.
