I don't answer numbers I don't know, and I decided to research this number, and saw all of this info on it. Similar to other comments, I called back with a blocked number and they hung up every time. I unblocked my number once and they had some incompetent sounding girl say she's from Colorado Auto Insurance, verifying information, saying the whole bit saying my name and she started to ramble on with my old address and I hung up.

Funny thing is... I don't drive. Haven't driven in oh... let's see, 4 years? And my insurance was through my parents at the time. It most certainly wasn't this scam company either! People are stupid!

Just received a call from this number, but I didn't answer it because I didn't recognize the number when it came up on caller i.d. They didn't leave a message, and after reading everything on here, I most definetly will not answer in the future! How these people get away with this crap is beyond me!

Calls then hangs up with no message, most probably computer calls generated to random numbers once in its in a data base; probably phishing for information, which could then be used, or sold as lists to others.

Called back and they claim to be an auto insurance company for IL. Completely bogus company... Said I had requested a quote from a website but would not give the websites info. Jean was the Rep. I spoke with. She had my first&last name and my cell number. I assure you, I did not attempt to get a quote from any insurance company. Nor did I purchase anything online during this year.

I called them back.  The woman who answered told me she was from "Illinois Auto Insurance" and that I had requested an auto insurance quote several months ago from one of their affiliated sites.  She went on to tell me that insurance rates are at an all-time low, blah, blah, blah... and asked me to verify my information.  She read off my name, email address, and my parent's mailing address.  I told her I didn't have a car and asked her to remove me.  She told me I would be removed in 24-48 hours.

I haven't lived with my parents for over 6 months, and I haven't owned a car in over a year.  Last time I requested insurance quotes from anyone was  at least 2 years ago.

My vote is that this is a phising attempt.  When I called the number back using *67, they kept picking up and hanging up.  That's probably because they don't know which state auto insurance company they should answer with.

Don't verify any information with these people and don't give them any new information.  Just tell them you don't have a car and tell them to stop calling.

Before I hit submit, I tried calling with my number withheld one more time.

Scammer: "Hello, this is Auto Insurance.  We were just calling you earlier to verify your information.  May I have your first and last name?"
Me: "I'm sorry, what company are you from?"
Scammer: "This is Auto Insurance.  We were just calling you earlier to verify your information.  To do that, we need your first and last name?"
Me: "Your company's name can't be auto insurance. What's your company's name?"
Scammer: "We are affiliated with all insurance companies."
Me: "But YOUR company has to have a name.  What is your company's name?"
Scammer: "We are State Auto Insurance.  We are affiliated with all the insurance companies.  I just need to verify your information."
Me: "So your company's name is 'State Auto Insurance'?  Why is it that when I call without blocking my number, you answer 'Illinois Auto Insurance', but when someone calls from Arizona, you answer 'Arizona Auto Insurance'?"
Scammer: "We do not say that.  We work with all insurance companies in all states.  I just need your first and last name so we can verify your information." (by now, she was starting to sound really pissed)
Me: "Ok, so where did you get my information?"
Scammer: "All your information is already in our database, I just need to verify that it is correct."
Me: "Right, but where do you get the data to put it in your database?"
Scammer: "I do not know where the data comes from.  It's jsut in the database?"
Me: "Alright, well this sounds like a scam and an attempting to get my info to sell for advertising."
Scammer: "Ok, thank you, sir.  Have a nice day."

Any employee calling you to verify your information from a legitimate company should know where the data is coming from.  She could have at least said, "The insurance companies give us the data and we verify it for them."  These scammers aren't even good at scamming.  Again I will say, please don't confirm any of the information they have on you.  If you want to have some fun though, you could give them all wrong info.  All their going to do is sell your info anyway or worse...  They could steal your identity with the type of information they are asking for.

Called me relentlessly for about 3 weeks.  Requested no call list several times to no avail.  Each I spoke with them, they reported that they are with Colorado Auto Insurance, a company that doesn't exist.  When asked to specify affiliations, they reported that they "are affiliated with all insurance companies in the U.S."  Which is ridiculous and was frustrating for me due to the fact that the person stating had a Mideastern accent.  I asked to speak with a supervisor, got hung up on.  Called back several times, was unable to speak with a supervisor and hung up on each time when I requested a main contact number/name for the company or to speak with a supervisor.  What the hell is the deal with these people?!?!?

I called the number back.  Said they were Arizona auto insurance verifying my info to update my insurance carrier.  Prob 1) they called me by my maiden name and my insurance company has my married and Prob 2) my premium just renewed.  Lots of back peddling when I brought this up to the caller.
