A telemarketer called from "Design Center" offering free estimates on home remodeling.  He gave me his company's web address as "remodelcalifornia.com".  I made an appt. for them to come out this weekend.  Today, I pulled up the website.  There was no content to the website and the only contact information was the 866# which did not work.  I am very suspicious that this may not even be a construction company but a burglary operation.  I left a message with a police detective to hear what he would say.

I got a call from them a day after I had called some other roofing companies.  It was very suspicious.  They asked if my "wife would be home" when they got there.  I called the next day to cancel the appointment and they abruptly hung up.  
They said their address was 66601 Center Drive, Los Angeles, CA
The guy said his name was Robert and I could reach him at 1-866-985-2145.

who are they? calling and not talking.

The company's real name is Reliable Remodelers, and their phone number is 888-227-1333.  Their contractor's license # is 842003 and their website is www.reliable-remodelers.com

If it were me, I'd call them and give them as much hassle as they give you when they call you.  I've also reported them to donotcall.gov (which doesn't really do anything, but I might was well do it.

Yes, pitching design services.  When I gruffly told the timid caller I was on the do not call list she hung up.  But that freaks out the dialing computer so it called me back twice.  No one would get on the line!  Definitely go to the FTC site noted about and report them.

They also apparently use the number 818-300-2399.  If you have a fax machine you might try repeatedly to send them some "useful" information :)

Calls several times per day; 7 days per week - hours vary. When I answered yesterday, the standard few second lull then a nice young man tells me he is a contractor in my...my...Torrance, yes Torrance neighborhood and wants to give me a free quote. Unfortunately, all of the telemarketers in the background give his small town story some credibility issues. I just do not understand how it makes financial sense for a co to call that much and get nowhere unless there are people out there that actually respond to this nonsense. I feel sorry for those people.

The guy said he was from "Design Center" which is a BBB-certified business, family owned, in business 22 years, etc. Says their website is www.remodelcalifornia.com (it is a generic one-page website with no address, details, etc, gives 866 phone #).

Said company is in the area, giving free estimates on all kinds of construction, licensed, bonded, insured, etc. Said he doesn't know the address of the Design Center. Fairly aggressive push to give estimate.

I hung up on him after getting some info and reported a complaint to the Do Not Call Registry.

Got a call from this number, picked up and some lady named India said they were from La Design Center. Their 'call back' number was 866-985-2145.

I asked how she got my number, she said companies like Lowes provided them with my phone number.

Calls all the time and hangs up-- very annoying!  Mailbox full when I call back.

i just got one of those calls from that same number; i get them infrequently from that number. there is no message left. any information as to how to locate the individual and report him to authorities?

Yeah, I picked up heard music and some ruffling noises in the back ground, real faint like a radio or similiar to. called back and msg.box full. ??? wierd

I answered and then music started.  Finally someone said my last name, but when I said Hello again they said nothing and I hung up

I answered this call and spoke to a gentleman calling himself ?Isaac Wheeler? who claimed to be a local contractor offering home improvement.  Told him we were on the federal do not call list, and not to call again.

BTW, I couldn't find an Isaac Wheeler listed with the California State Contractors Licensing Board.

Yeah man me too, a bunch of times. They never leave a message and when I try to call them back it has no name and the mailbox is full. Im gonna kick their a** when I find out hahaha.
