i keep getting calls from the mystery attorney. I figured it was a scam and a fraud.

HOW BOUT THIS ONE,,,,MAYBE YOU GUYS SHOULD PAY YOUR BILLS,,

Exactly the same scenario as that dated 09 Dec., 2008.  How he got my SSN does concern me.

This Guy calls identifying himself as Richard Scott an Attorney collecting an outstanding debt. insisting on payment.  One of the accounts he quoted was a disputed account from over 15 years past. As I recall this is a scam reporting old debt as new and trying to collect by threatening to sue.  Do not fall for this scam

Richard Scott called me about an account supposedly 6 years old.  He wanted payment immediately on it.  He said he was an attorney and I was going to be taken to court.  I told him I had to call him back as I as at work an unable to talk.  At that time he gave me 30 minutes to call him back. When I returned his call, I had to leave a message.  After I had done some investigating I found that this did not show on my credit report as he earlier stated.  I also told him to NOT call me at work and gave him my cell phone number.  He called me again at work a while later and proceeded to tell me that I HAD to pay the amount.  I had reviewed my rights as a consumer and found that I could request everything in writing.  I asked for his address so I could put my requests in writing and he refused.  I stated that I did not know if this was fraud or not and he proceeded tell me that the only fraud there was was (he proceeded to read off my SS#).  I would be more than happy to resolve this if this is in fact mine but he was VERY uncooperative in giving me the information I was requesting.  As a matter of fact he REFUSED.  When I told him this account did not show on my credit report he proceeded to tell me that he could have it reported first thing tomorrow morning....I am confused and am not giving him ANY information until he gives me the information I am requesting.
