310-872-5848 called this morning and last night. I didn't answer, and they didn't leave a message. I would assume it is the same scammers using the same 310-872-****. It is disturbing how many of us receive scam calls incessantly. For those of you who keep stating that you are on the Do Not Call list - that is for LEGITIMATE businesses, these are scammers, who use throw-away cell phones and spoofed numbers to prey on their victims. Be wise and don't answer the phone. If a legitimate business really needs to get a hold of you, they will send you snailmail.

This is the scammer himself. There is no such animal as American Law Division. What a bad joke, sounds like a 10 year old came up with that name. Was fired from a phone call, complete BS. Illegal, didn't happen. what is interesting is that these trolls are trolling these consumer protection websites putting out lying propaganda. Look at the sentence construction and grammar from the original post above. What do you think, did it come from Nigeria, Vietnam, Thailand, take a shot?

These idiots have been harrassing me for months. They have used several different "company" names that don't exist. Apparently they can't even keep track of their own lies. Also, we know you're name is not Brad or David...duh! Ya'll should go out and get yourselves real jobs rather than harrassing hardworking people; and KIDS like the one above! You should be ashamed of yourselves! Keep throwing away your little disposable cell phones and I'll keep blocking all your new numbers. You stupid pricks! By the way, if the state of California were taking legal action against someone in Texas (whom had never set foot in Ca), don't you think they would notify me a little more appropriately than some a$$hole like yourself calling me? I'm pretty sure there would be paperwork involved. You scammers make me sick. I hope you burn in hell!

Please do not let these people get to you.  They can't hurt you.  There are so many of these scam phone numbers around and they all want the same things - money and/or your personnel information.  I have been working woth local law enforcement and we are sending a cease and desist letter and demanding any documentation that they have verifying that I owe any money.  You can just hang up them and/or have some fun with them.  Insult them, crank call them even give another phony phone number which i did yesterday.  I had one of these bozos really going yesterday.  They can't hurt you at all - what are they going to do - call the cops?  I had the Hayward police Department phone them and they hung right up.

I have been getting calls from an Alex Johnson with a East Indian accent now for a week. Do you know this fool threatened me physical harm?! Really?! I have never heard of American Law Division, they have never contacted me by mail NOR do they show on my credit bureau (which by the way was the first place I checked to see if I really owed them anything). If this fool calls me one more time I'm reporting him to my local police department for harassment!

I have also been receiving phone calls from these guys for at least 6 months and maybe longer.  At first I was a little frightened getting these calls, but now I just ignore any call I get on my cell that I don't recognize.  My boyfriend even answered one time and they threatened to come to his work place and have him arrested!!!!  They don't even know where he works or who he is even!!!!!!!   The calls are just annoying and I try to ignore them but sometimes it gets to be a pain in the a**!!!!  I just got 3 calls in a row and then they left a voice mail which I didn't even listen to it all.  I erased it.

Debt Collector
My husband has been consistently harrassed by these people about twice a month for 4-5 months now. They say he took out a payday loan and owes them money. They threaten to take him to court and say that it will cost much more IF it has to go to court. He repeatedly asked for the name of the payday loan company. They finally gave him a name, and when my husband called that company directly, they had no record of him EVER having a payday loan or owing any money. They told him it was probably a scam. Today he received four calls in a row from "Clint Black" with this company (yeah, right!), and when my husband started arguing with "Clint" about not owing the money, my husband was told to "shut up." This made my husband angry, and he hung up. On the fourth call, my husband told them to mail the proof that he owes the money, and he would address it with them at that time. "Mr. Black" said that "is not their policy." Of course it is not their policy, because if they send something through the mail, it becomes mail fraud which is a federal offense. This is a SCAM with a capital "S"!!! Do NOT give them any information. Report it to your local law enforcement or find the number to your local Secret Service field office at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml

you keep calling me over and over and leaving me voicemails that i can't understand.  i'm sorry, but the only language i can understand is english.  and i don't care if all you can do is wish me good luck.  i don't need your wishes because i always have good luck. now you should stop calling me because when i get off work tonight, i'm going to start calling you so that you won't be able to get any work done.  ok?  that's all.

by the way everybody, debt collectors have to actually say that the reason they are calling is to collect a debt.  this person isn't doing so, and you can't understand him, so if you give in to his lies then you pretty much deserve whatever fraud you get wrapped up in.

Just got a call from these f****rs.  Told them i was wise to them and to f*** off.  They can't do anything.

I have gotten similar calls from 347-298-6310 and 209-642-4409.  With the assistance of law enforcement we found a physical address for these terrorists and demand that they present the documentation that they have, which is required under the fair credit reporting act.  of course they can't but now the letter will give law enforcement the right to find these punks and proesecute them.

Do not give them money, hang up on them, call them terrorists and curse them because they can't do a thing to you

This number initially called my job and I was confused because I don't give ANYONE my work number. Then when I called back, "Calvin White" with a DEEP accent starts talking about I owe money for a payday loan I know I didn't receive! He knew all of my info but I denied it was me and hung up on him! Now they call everyday, several times a day! Today he called 15 times back to back after I cursed him out and hung up on him! He even argued back!!! Is there any way this can be reported and stopped! Its VERY aggravating!!!

Someone named John Wilson left a message on my voicemail yesterday saying that one of my siblings committed identity thief by getting a loan in my name and that I was in big trouble. He had an Asian accent. I called email my sister and she said she did not. I called him back and told him to call the police. Then I got online and googled his phone number and I realized that it was a scam and I called him and told him what I would do to him if he ever contacted me or my family again. I will not say what I told him in that last call but I don't think he will be calling me again.

If you are targeted by these criminals, be sure to report them to all the following federal and state law enforcement agencies (most of which you can do online or over the phone):
1.    The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.
2.    Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by extortionists over the phone. And if the crooks claim to be law enforcement or lawyers, officers of the court or bankers, be sure to include that information in your report.
3.    File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone.  Be sure to tell them that you're being targeted by an extortionist and give them all the details.
4.    File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.wvago.gov
5.    File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en
If these crooks call back, promise them nothing, pay them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)

By the way, here's just a small sample of numbers used by this particular group of scammers. Read the reports and you'll see the same pattern time and again -- phony organization names, thick foreign accents, and oddly worded threats that are so melodramatic and ridiculous that it's laughable:

Scam alert: Bogus debt collectors
By Leslie McFadden ? Bankrate.com
Monday, Aug. 3
Posted 2 p.m.
Bankrate reporter Leslie McFadden contributed this entry.
This scam isn't technically about credit cards, but it is scary enough to post a warning. The Better Business Bureau issued an alert today saying consumers across the country are getting phone calls from bogus debt collectors claiming default on a payday loan. Of course, the consumer needs to pay a large fee to avoid arrest -- as much as $1,000.
The caller poses as a lawyer, and may threaten extradition to face trial if the consumer doesn't pay up immediately.
What makes these calls alarming -- and perhaps convincing -- is that the perpetrators reference the consumer's personal information, such as the person's Social Security number, driver's license number, previous bank account numbers, home address -- even personal references.
"The amount of information they have is really troubling," says BBB spokeswoman Alison Southwick. She adds that the amount of data points to a possible security breach.
Spread the word to your friends and family: Don't give out personal or financial information to an unknown caller. Scammers can spoof Caller ID to display different numbers, so trust your instincts over technology.
The BBB offers these tips:
?    Ask the debt collector to provide official documentation which substantiates the debt.
?    Do not provide or confirm any bank account, credit card or other personal information over the phone until you have confirmed the legitimacy of the call.
?    File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online if the caller is abusive, uses threats or otherwise violates federal telemarketing laws or the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
?    File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau online if you believe a debt collector is trying to scam you.

I, too, keep getting calls time and again on my cell phone. However, the guy they are asking for isn't at my number. I've told them repeatedly that they got the wrong number, and to lose the number, but they keep calling. Today, got a call and he left vm, claiming to be a John Wilson, and direct line 310-872-2861. The guy he keeps asking for is Tony Hull. Don't know him.

they actually called me too today saying i owe 843 dollars and if I go to court I owe 5000 and I told them I haven't  had any loans with any of the companies they named. Then they said that if this is false then how do they have all my information. that kind of frightens me knowing that they have that information. I think we should all sue these a***oles.

This IS a scam so don't give them any info.  Oh wait, why am I telling you I'm sure you work for these dirt bags and are now trying to leave a "convincing" reply to the board to get people to buy into your crap.  If your number was actually traceable to a location you would be in jail.  The actual company that you "claim" to be collecting for has a notice on their website notifying people of your actions and to not be fooled by your threats of attorneys or court.  By the way, brush up on your English if you want to post here...it's quite obvious you are one of the reasons this scam is ongoing.
