Sent me a text message at 5:56am saying that they reviewed my application for an Office Clerk position and to call them back at 877-534-7701.
They knew and stated my name. They didn't leave a contact person, just number. Why send a text? Why no contact person?

Got the same message for a receptionist, only they told me to call 888-907-4193. Pretty sure it's a scam. I did apply for a job on craigslist a little while back so that's probably where they got my info. Kind of creepy.

I got the same exact thing. a text message saying to call a number and when i did the lady knew my name and asked me the same questions. then, she said they would send me an email to complete the application process.... i bet they will require a credit or background check in that email. way to prey on people applying for jobs.

Don't even respond to this number. It's a scam to get information from you. A legitimate business would not send you a text. They are praying on unemployed people who are desperately trying to find work.

I got this message, "Hi Jennifer, I just reviewed your application for the Receptionist position you applied for. Please call me at 888-9070376" on December 28 at 11:04 a.m..

First off, I've never heard of a company texting people asking for an interview. This is totally unprofessional. Although I did apply to a few receptionist jobs on Cragislist, I have not called them back yet and I don't think I will.  This whole thing weirded me out.

I got that too but he said to call him at 888-345-1452. I think it's a scam or something, I wonder how they got my number...

I got the same exact text, telling me to call the number because I applied for unit secretary position. I called and they knew who I was by caller ID before I introduced myself. I asked them when they got my application. They knew what position and when I applied, but said that they are a third party company and don't have access to where the job location is and where I had applied. The whole thing took 2 minutes. She'd said she just wanted to verify the information on application and make sure I am a real person applying. She also asked me questions like 'Are you a US citizen?' or 'do you have access to computer at home', because she said she wanted to check to see if I am eligible. Then she said she is going to forward the application to employer and next they would be contacting me directly.

I am not sure if this is a scam. It sure looks like it. Specially since I have been applying for job on craigslist lately, which looks like some of you have too. Good luck!

Yeah, I got a message to call 877-503-8367 which was texted to me from 310-882-8747.  They said I applied for a Customer Service Position and to call them.  They had my name too.  I say, it's suspicious and I don't trust people who hide behind text messages.  It's even worse than hiding behind emails or Craigslist ads!!

Thank you Elena for finding out and reporting what you found.  I HIGHLY RECOMMEND, DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER or any personal information to an unknown caller, even if they send you an email.  Make sure you find out that the number they called you from actually belongs to a legitimate business and that they have a business license and that they are within the state of California.
You can go to the California business portal and do a business search at http://www.sos.ca.gov/business/
Then click on business entities on the left, then on business search.

You can then type in the business and see if they exist.  Also, make sure the phone number belongs to that business.

I advise not calling back a company that sends texts for employment.  Even if they are real, do you really want to work for someone that treats you poorly from the beginning?

hey elena, i was sent the EXACT same text from the same number; however, I didn't apply for a receptionist position... or for any in the past few years.

I know I've been applying to random jobs on craigslist, though. Sometimes, I wonder if those job listings are scams....... I hope they get back to you and you'll update this message! Thanks for being brave and responding to the text.

Got a txt message "Hi Elena, I just reviewed your application for the Receptionist position you applied for. Please call me at 877-503-8367"

Called the number and the woman knew who I was right off the bat (caller id?) She said that its some kind of employment agency and that I applied for a hotel receptionist position (which I did)... She asked if I was currently working and if I was still interested and why I was looking for a new job when the economy is pretty screwed. She verified my contact info and when I asked for more info about the job she said the client is currently chosing to stay annonymous (why?) and the only thing she can tell me is that the job is within 25 miles of my zip code. She then asked me why I think I would make a good receptionist and what my desired salary is. Then she said she will send me an application via email tomorrow and asked if I was interested in continuing college. I said no and she went on about how 85% of emPloers want someone with a degree and how they have access to a very exclusive school that has financial aid and a bunch of other perks. I said I'll think about it and she wished me luck and said to watch out for that email she is going to send.

Bottom line, i think this is another "go back to school" scheme and probably a waste of time, but I will check that email (if I actually get one) and will post back with an update
