I got a call from this number saying it was Craigslist changing my password.  It was in the middle of the night and it just kept calling until someone answered the phone. Caller ID says Concerto Network but can verify it.

If you travel out of the country and log into Facebook you have to complete a security feature identifying a series of your friends randomly selected - FB also gives you the option to Text or Call you with an UNLOCK PIN #- All good NO SCAM. They called me twice once it was an UKNOWN NAME- The second time it call came up as "Concert Network

craigslist emplemented this random automated number verification program to cut down on mostly car sales businesses hogging the free  listing of vehicles for sale. The business would load up the 'auto for sale' postings with hundreds of postings, totally abusing the good will of craigslist services and annoying the hell out of people looking for private auto sales postings. It's not perfect but at least they are trying to discourage these abuses. You make the choice how you want to be contacted for verification either by voice phone call or text message. They give you a four digit code you are supposed to plug into the code box during the posting sequence. If you do it right, your ad is accepted. If not, you will get called several times before it gives up. Just know to expect the call and answer the dang thing.

I responded to an ad on craigs list for a job a couple of months ago. today they e-mailed me and stated the following:
How are you Heidi? , We are glad you are interested in our position. We have been receiving a lot of spam from craigslist lately, so we have integrated their verification system into our hiring process.

If you are interested in this position, we ask that you verify your self with the phone verification system: [View Here]

You will receive a secret code via text message to your phone number. Please type the code into the text box provided on the website.

Thank you for taking the time to help us fight spam.
when you follow the link it takes you here:

http://www.craigsverificationsystem.com/
At this website you are asked to enter your phone number(this seems to be craigslist)

next they want me to e-mail them this code. If i do, they can post craigslist ads using my telephone number. do not give anyone this code. It is a scam.

Talk to you soon ,

This guy used your phone number to register with Craigslist.  (In order to sell some things, or if you make a lot of changes, they require you to register and validate that you have a legitimate phone number, I would suppose in order to track you better if they find out you are doing the bad.)  He called you back to get the verification number that he has to enter on the computer he is using in order to set up the account.  So now this creep has probably been accepted as a seller.  A nice try for Craigslist to help stop spamming or catch criminals, but when the scammers can easily get someone unknown to give them a verification code.....

This is a call that sends an activation code for a Craiglists posting.  When you post to Craiglist, there are settings to have the activation code sent to the phone number listed on the account that is being used to make the posting.

310-928-7055 calls me, inessantly-- and will not stop.  I have alerted this caller that tghe person they are looking for is nOT at my (business) number, as they are idiots and cannot pronounce the name correct;ly!

Then, I hang up- and tghey call back, and I hang up;  it's like a game, and I would like to know what good the do-not-call registry is, as it has not prevented or stopped these unwanted, sometimes harassing, calls!

I received a call from this number just minutes after I filled out a so called application from a job response on craigslist.  I entered my phone number on the "application" and when I clicked next it said it was verifying my number it seemed like it was taking too long so I figured something was wrong and tried to back out, but I think it was too late.  About 5 minutes later I received a call from the 320 number it was saying something about craigslist verification of a post and left a code.  Immediately I was worried (what did I just do).  Someone must be posting something using my number or trying some type of identity theft.  What should I do?!!!!

I work at a grocery store and although I do not have access to caller ID, I am positive this number called. The guy, Kevin, was alerting me that the Health Dept was going to come tomorrow (makes no sense as the health dept is a surprise) and he needed a code to confirm our call. The code would come in after we hung up. As I hung up, sure enough another call came through with the code and I heard craigslist verification. As Kevin called again, I asked him HOW could craigslist and the state health dept be in any way, shape, or form be affiliated. I guess Kevin didn't like my question as he got defensive and aggressively wanted the code. I asked for his contact information before I'd give him anything. He didn't like that either and yelled an F bomb and hungup. Kevin had the nerve to call again and ask why I hung up. Told him off and ended this nonsense. I'm not sure exactly what type of scam this is, but definitely seems like a scam.

obviously none of you have tried to open a google account recently. I have been using google for a while and recently wanted to open a second account. apparently they are a lot more thorough with their application process than they use to be. it no longer click and your in, now you need to provide a phone number that they can call or text in order to provide an activation code.

some one obviously didn't want to give out their own number so they gave out yours and tried to con you into giving them the activation code.

hence the call from (310) 928-7055 was google.

That call was calling you with an activation code because you were signing up for something on the Internet. If it wasn't you, then it was someone who typed in your number by mistake. How do I know this? For I got this same call from this same number giving me my access code needed to sign up for something on the Internet...

It is from Google "new" account. And perhaps other companies use it as well for verification, I opened up a new account on Google, and it asked me if I wanted a text verification code sent to me or a phone verification sent. I choose phone. As soon as I entered my phone number, my phone rang with an automatic message with my verification code. If you got a phone call from this number and wasn't trying to set up an Internet account, chance are someone typed in your number by error, or, someone is trying to open up a new account using your phone number, not knowing how it really works.

Just got a call from 310 928 7055 and the guy, Indian accented Tom, said he was from the Federal Trade Commission and he was going to help me reduce the telemarketer calls we get. He said I would get an automated call after he put the phone down giving me a 5-digit code and I should write it down then give him the code. Sure enough got the second call and then he rang back and asked for the code. The automated message with the code also said: If you are not setting up a Craigs List account please disregard this message. Huh, really? So when the guy called back I asked him why it said this and he told me it was because that was his server. Even gave a FTC customer service number to call and verify he was from there 888 720 5100 (did not come up in Google search). I told him I didn't believe a word he was saying and I would go online to verify his information and found a couple of sites reporting problems. Don't know what they are getting out of this but did not give him the code.

when u post on Craigslist you have to provide a phone number. if you provide a cell number, an automated service sends a text with a confirmation #, if you provide a landland number, the automated service calls you with the confirmation #. you have to enter this confirmation # before craigslist will post your ad. people getting texts or calls from this number had their number entered by someone posting on craiigslist - if you get a call or text from this number and you were not posting on craigslist, delete/ignore it. it's not a scam or anything to worry about.
