I received a threatening call.

I got this same type call at my home and place of employment on Friday, April 23, 2010.  The heavy middle eastern accent was nearly impossible to understand.  He used strange terminology and broke the credit collections law.  This has to be a scammer because I did not owe anything.  He said things like "if you do not return the call, you will face serious legal consequences and I feel sorry for you for the circumstances about to unfold on you".  The caller id showed 310-974-8957 but he left a call back number of 213-234-7592.  I had recently requested a payday loan online and submitted my personal info to a website that "shopped around" for a loan for me.  During this process, my information was not protected.  I am now seeking Legal advice and changing my bank account.   Do not apply for payday loans on the internet.  You will be bombarded with spam and offers from non legitimate lenders.  Very dangerous!  I learned my lesson!

Received a phone call from someone stating I had an upaid payday loan.  Couldn't give me any information.  They said they're coming to my employer on Monday because I'm being taken to court in California for check and collection fraud.  I live in Illinois.  They said I never paid my loan, never responded to e-mails, etc.  Asked for a contact name and number.  Was given number of 213-234-7592 with Michael Davis' name.  Called it and it was the same person I first spoke with.  Asked for a direct line and case/reference #.  Called that number (310-974-8957) and wound up talking to the exact same person.  Very rude and threating me with legal action.  Said I took out a loan through Fast Cash, eventually giving me the name of 1st cash international, probably but they're not sure.  Said I owe $789.35.  Afraid of what else they're going to do with this information.

I received a call from this number on my cell phone and my work...they claim to be a senior attorney out of california. He said his name was David. He had my social security number and my mother's name. At first he wouldn't tell me what it was about, he said that he had to fax the info over to my lawyer, which I wouldnt give him that info. He asked to verify my address. After he hung up on my because I called him out and got rude right back to him, it went straight to a voicemail. I tried to call back the next day and that is when they told me it was in regards to a pay day loan that I have never recieved. They are illegal in my state. He also had my bank info. It really freaked me out. He had a middle eastern accent and was very hard to understand. He hung up on me several times and every time I called him back I got a voicemail. I told him that my number was on the do not call list and then he hung up on me again, and I haven't heard from him since. Does anyone know of a contact person to report this. I thnk that they have some how bought my personal informatin and I don't want it to go any further then this.

YES MICHAEL WRIGHT CALLED ME TODAY MIDDLE EASTERN WITH AN AMERICAN NAME AND YES THIS IS A SCAM!

The FBI and the federal government DO NOT investigate unpaid loans, that is a civil matter.  This cam has been runniong for over two years now. They claim you have na unpaid loan and that if you do not pay you will arrested and charged with a whole host of things.  In the past the all the callers have been middle eastern with americanized name, probably calling form India and using some kind of masking phone software to makes the numbers they use look like they are calling form the US.  But no one on this page has mentioned that which makes me wonder if some americans have picked up on this scam. There are tons of stories like this, all under different numbers, check our the warning from Kansas Attorney General Steve Six.  These people do suck, they have bought your information.

I just received the call from Michael Avis, he new my social secuirty number and I am positive it is a HUGE scam to steal my personal information. I reported him to my real attorney, and I called 911 to do a trace of the number. I also left a very threatening voicemail and I expect not to hear from him again...

got a call from jeffery stating that i owed for a payday loan and i asked what bank account he gave me one of the banks i use but i wouldn't use it for this and i checked my deposits and there wasn't one from Payday?He was very threatening and told me i was being sued for a origional $300.00 dollar loan and it is now two months later with interest and penaltys close to $700.00 HMMMMM sO i AM GOOGLEING IT TO SEE WHATS UP. DID ANYBODY EVER GET PAPERS OR SUPEONAS?

i just got a cll to frm this guy name jeff saying tht im be sued for  a pyday loan. and whn i start questioning him, he said  tht he couldnt gve me any info  and hu. and i cll bk asking for a mgr and he hu..now whn i cll it going straight to a voicemail.

same thing here they said i was being charged with check fraud for an unpaid payday loan. i called them on their b.s. got very rude with them even started cussing them. i asked to speak to his supervisor and to fax me the affidavit. he would not do any of it . i was freaked out at first but am pretty sure this is a scam . I have done payday loans in the past so im sure that where they probably got my info. until i get a legal document sent to me in the mail or in person screw em. i would like to catch them and get them in trouble for what they are doing. anyone have any suggestion s

I got a call saying that I need to talk to an attorney named Michael Avis.
The guy who called couldn't  tell me what it was regarding and only the attorney can tell me. He asked me to call him at 310-974-8957, which is the number he called from!
It sounds like a scam... why wouldn't he just transfer me over?
And when I called that number someone answered and said "This is Steven Johnson." I was expecting them to say "Hi this is District Attorney MIchael Avis's office" but no...
There is something very weird about this.
