I got the same call. But they did leave a message, it say's the call is about my vehicle warranty.

Received a call on answering machine from this number, no message left.  I will block the number from further calls.  Thanks to others for posting information about this number.

Apparently when you purchase a car or other major item,
you have no rights to privacy, as the automakers, dealers, financial institutions
sell your name & info, and the credit reporting agencies let any scam artist
willing to pay them, have access to your credit report.
No, you can't selectively opt-out, it's all or none, meaning you will have a hard time getting credit
if you opt-out with the credit agencies.

I have a new cell phone # (2 months old) and very few have my number.  I have, however, been providing contact information on some résumé posting related to job searches.  I received the call in the morning of November 5th but was not able to answer.  Since I was expecting from anyone in Illinois, I decided to check out this number.  I know enough now that I will not return the call and the person calling left no message.  Thanks to the previous folks who took the time to post.

9:00 am Nov 5, 2013 - just called. I didn't pick up. I get quite a few calls from various numbers on my cell and look them up online then put under scam #s. Thanks to everyone posting various numbers!! It is most helpful and reassuring, because I don't answer, but then know it truly is a scam number and I don't have to wonder. Edmonton, Alberta

Today Morning a call came from 312-489-2170, just two rings, by the time I answered they disconnected, no voice mail left.

Asked name and hung up. Called three times today.

They don't leave a message I don't recognize the number and try calling back and it says it's nonallocated. I don't know how they got my info and really don't want another call cuz I will report whoever this is

They call a few times a day.  Tonight at 9pm they call again.  Women asked for me by name and never said another word.  I could hear background noise but no one came back to the line.

After the first call, I looked up the number at different sites because my "PhoneWarrior" app said it was spam and reported by several others. Where I looked online, they all say it's a scammer calling about vehicle warranty or school academy, etc. Someone said as soon as he posted stuff on facebook he started getting calls from that number. I had phonewarrior block the number. An hour later I was alerted that I was called by that number again, but it was blocked. I'm guessing that they're coming from some online sites I visited for jobs.

I got an email from my kids school warning of a scam the caller says they're with a cartel and say they have a loved one held hostage and if you dont send money they'll hurt/kill that person they have a lot of info about that said person so it sounds real but they seem to get the info off social media says my kids school resource officer he also said that the area code is 312 an hour after I posted on facebook letting others know about the scam I got a call from 312-489-2170 I didnt answer because of the email I had just gotten but my husband called it back and it was an unallocated phone number out of Illinois.  

Caller ID shows "academic advisor". Keeping asking me questions about my education and personal info. But when I asked which school was she associated with, she didn't answer my question, and insisted asking me more questions. I just hung up.

They called Me At 6Pm. Asked For Me By First Name, When I Responded This IS She, They Hung Up. I Called The Number Back, Unallocated!

Got a call from this scam number..It's most likely just a spoofed number by the scammers, that's why you can't call it back.

They have called 3 times recently and asked for a name that does not live here. I have politely asked them to stop calling and that this was one of several calls and they have hung up on me several times. I call the number and they do not answer. Bad business practices!

683-560-2674 and 775-298-1987 are looking to scam you out of money- loans,warranties, any item you googled or filled out application for, they start calling on behalf of it, and tell you what you want to hear but require that you send them money on a green dot card from walmart- sounds easy enough but ARE VERY GOOD!! hard to understand but say right things like, if you aren't comfortable dont do, gave me an actual website that exited to verify they exist (on a weekend so you can't call and verify mostly) and try and give you terms and conditions that are too good to be true, all the while saying you will be on the phone with them the whole time so no risk invovled. Never never never give anyone money over the phone via western union,green dot,etc that isnt trackable

Repeatedly asked me about my expired vehicle warranty but refused to answer when I asked what vehicle the person was referring to.  This is a scammer who is seeking suckers who are ignorant of their vehicle warranties to sell a bogus warranty scheme.  When I dialed the number back  I got a recording stating "the number you have dialed is unallocated"

Same here. About expired vehicle warranty. Told them not to call again. We're on Do Not Call. Filed a complaint. As far as I'm concerned I've never done business with them.Unknown
