Got a call from this number, and since I didn't recognize it I ignored it. He called back right away so I answered. He asked if he was talking to someone I'm not, and I told him no that wasn't me and to not call back my number. He hung up. Now I'm glad it wasn't me he wanted to talk to. Why hasn't anyone done anything about this? This is a really scary kind of scam.

I got the call today. Guy said his brother had my brother and was going to shoot him in the head if they didn't get the money. I told them I was on the way to western union like they told me to do but I was really on my way to my brothers house. When my brother answered the door I told him to go to hell. I was looking at my brother. The man yell at me and hung up. Scary situation, I can't imagine what would happen if they had called my older relatives. When I told the police they said it would be a report but nothing would come from it. Sad these guys won't be stopped.

Today 3/5/14 at 1:52p this jerk called my phone saying my brother was involved in a car accident with this guys brother. Said my brother his  brothers bmw. Said that his brother told my brother not to call the police because he is on the run from the cops but my brother tried to, so his brother smashed his phone and hit him in the head with a gun, and then tied him up in his house. He said he tried talking his little brother out of it but that he wasn't listening, Said his brother wasnt going back to jail and if i wanted my little brother to live and i have to come bring them the money to cover the damages. Ssaid i couldnt talk to anyone and if i hung up they would shoot him. They knew my name, my brothers name and the town we live in. Scariest thing ever especially cause i would be the first person my brother called if he got into an accident. I kept asking the guy where he wanted me to meet him and he said he would tell me when i got outside and into my car. Another scary thing cause how did he know where i was, thankfully my brother and another family member all work for the same company so i was able to instant message the other person who tracked down my brother and he was still at work, I called state police who said as long as my brother is ok they cant do anything because these people use throw away phones that are untraceable, if this one number has been in use for so long how are they not able to trace it???????????? this is the scariest thing in the world but please do not fall for it, using a different phone try and contact whoever it is they say they have and get to the police, they may be able to trace the number if you are still on the phone. i hope these a@@holes loose someone close to them so they can feel what i felt today.

Apparently not!  They called me today (1/24/14), with story about accident, gang member, demanding money.

Got the call on my cell phone while driving today.  Thought it was a scam, but called kids to make sure they were OK.  I was amazed to discover so many people are being abused by this man with Spanish accent when I Googled the phone number he called from.  Chicago, IL is snowed/iced in... I figured it was a kid who was bored from too many snow days getting his jollies by abusing his cell phone privileges.  He called my 301 area code cell phone and said there was a car accident in Silver Spring, MD and that my son or husband was critically injured.  He said he was asked to call me.  I asked to speak to a police officer on the scene or an EMT, he said he was no longer at the scene of the accident. Since we have two sons in the general area, we  contacted both of them and learned that all was well with them.  No mention of money was made.

Number called me saying someone in my family had been in a car accident with their brother and gave out my number as a contact number.  After I said no one in my family had been in a accident, he hung up the phone.  SCAM NUMBER from a cell phone in Chicago.

On 1/22/13 got the same type of call as everyone else in this post.  Called my local police, they told me to call the FBI.  Called the FBI in my state and could not get through.  No wonder the perp's aren't caught!  Probably no one is looking for them!

This number called my wife saying I had been in a car accident , demanded 2000 dollars or he would call the police  
He called again saying if I didn't give him the money he would kill me .
It's a scam . Be careful and call the phone company to trace this number

Just got my call from this fool. He said his accident thing and something about my parents wow if he only knew. I asked him who did he call, he said the accident thing again. Hung up immediately when he asked my name. I don't give out names to unknown numbers and certainly about family. Stop answering the phone, the police will contact you with what you need to know or if you doubt or happen to get pulled in 3 way the call with the local police. Be safe

If u r being asked to send the money Western Union u need to notify their fraud department!!!!

This guy is still active today.  My mother got a call today from this number, and she got the same story (accident, gang brother, holding me, new twist was "If you call her cell phone, we'll kill her.").  I was in a meeting, she couldn't get in touch with me, and she was terrified for an hour.  She did the smart thing and called the cops right away.  When I called her back after the meeting, the cop answered the phone, which scared the crap out of me because I thought they were in trouble for some reason.  He didn't know my name or what kind of car I drove, so she caught on pretty quickly that something wasn't right, but it still gave her quite a fright.  PLEASE file complaints at the links kindly posted above.  One call from one guy is a thing law enforcement won't spend their resources on, but hundreds of complaints from different people can raise law enforcement's attention.  I hope this jerk ends up doing a good long stint in federal prison!

Not sure if we were speaking directly with Anshuman Srivastava and/or his cohorts, but...

I think we'll all sleep a little better tonight knowing that a number of fraudulant call centers in Delhi are about to get hit really, really hard.

Got the gang story.
Apparently my mother was held hostage.

Kept him on for a while.
Long enough to get the number tracked.
Sounds potentially Indian but with an inner city dialect.

Ultimately wants you to use Western Union to send money.
He trys to walk you through the steps.  I just never made it to the end.
If someone has their Western Union information that would help.

He was calling from what sounded like a larger facility.  
There were other voices, speaking another language.  (Hindi, Arabic?)
Probably scamming as well.
In the end, he "sent Jason" to kill my mother.

If these guys are stateside, this may be quick.
If they're OCONUS, I'll be making some worthwhile-phone-calls and request some favors.
Guess we'll find out soon enough - though any help is appreciated.

We'll be able to trace the number - doesn't matter if it's throw away or VOIP.

Then it'll be time for det-cord and boots through doors.

My sister got the same call as well. He said a black SUV was involved in an accident in same town she lives and her number was given. I have a black SUV. She called me immediately. Cops say not much they can do because voice mail not set up & they dont want to trace it.

Just received a call from this same number, and I searched online to find that it's a scam.  After I answered my phone, a guy with a Latino accent started with "Thank God you answered," and then mentioned an accident and asked if I had relatives in the Mount Prospect, IL area.  With 2 sons, I have to admit he got my attention.  Then I asked for his name and if he is with the police.  He identified himself as "Mark," and said his brother was in a 3 car accident and one of drivers gave his brother my number to call.  I asked for details about the vehicles, and he said a silver SUV and blue car.  I asked for the make of the SUV, and he replied "Nissan".  That was wrong, so I told him to ask his brother to check the vehicle type and call me back himself.  He said he would and hung up.  With all the laws out there, there should be at least one that this scammer can be prosecuted under.

Same scam call here in upstate NY.  On 12/14/13 @ approx 12:55 pm a male sounding like late 20's, early 30's called my cell and dentified himself as "Mark" w/Spanish accent. As soon as he started w/accident description I asked him for specifics e.g. vehicle descriptions, names, police dept. jurisdiction, town name of emt responders, etc. He was only able to give me the name of a town where I often travel to and from and something about getting third hand info such as my emergency contact number from one of the injured parties. When I proved into his own identity he quickly lost interest in the conversation. I kinda knew this was a scam from the git-go BUT, problem was, some of the info was legit...he had accurare info about me such as my name, my cell phone number, he knew the name of a specific road where I often travel. I'm not sure if law enforcement is able to take action to protect us against such predators but after reading the feedback from others I'd love to put this Hijo de **** (SOB) behind bars.

This phone number called me on December 12th saying that my husband had been in a terrible car wreck between a pickup and a semi. He then asked me for my husband's name, but I was suspicious because the number had a different area code and the man had a foreign accent. Instead, I asked what kind of pickup it was. He said it was an F150 which was wrong, but it was an easy mistake. Again, he asked what my husband's name was. And I was still suspicious so I asked what color the pickup was. He said it was blue, and I told him that that was incorrect. He said sorry about the mix up and hung up. What a loser.

I received a phone call from this number. The man told me that my wife and son were in an accident with his brother and that he was given this number to call because they were injured. I asked the names of the injured and he said he did not know. I asked for the police on the scene. He said that he was just a good samaritan and that I should call my wife and son to make sure they were ok. He then hung up abruptly. Illinois area code. My guess is that asking for the police freaked him out and he did not follow through with the rest of his scam. I called back and no one picks up. The police should do something about this person.

Talked to a Lake County Detective today for a while today. Again since the police take care of these scams individually and no one was "injured" they don't really pull together. So the lady in Crown Point that posted a couple days ago that got hit right after us will be taken care of by the Crown Point police. Just to let you know since this is not being stopped because of scattered resources... I just got off the phone with the FCC, I've sent info to the FBI  and I also contacted the FTC who was helpful and took a full complaint to post on their web site. Lastly I tried to reach out to the State Attorney General... not sure what else to do? Glad you and your family are ok.  I had the identical thing/story happen to me this week as I posted below.

Just had the same call from this man saying my sister was in an accident and his brother a fugitive gang member had her hostage and wanted me to stay on phone with him til i wired him $1200 western union. after i confirmed my sister was ok, i let the guy know he was an *&&%^%$ and hung up. Same phone number. I am from Merrillville, IN. Reported to Posen, IL Police Dept.

Had the St. John, Lake County and Dyer police involved yesterday when the same caller everyone is speaking of called my cell while I was at the doctor. Got it on speaker but it was the same story my son was in an accident with the van.  He was calling from a 312 area code where my son drives to get to school. We couldn't reach my son and the school even said he had left about 15 minutes earlier. So the story all added up. Our son called me from home... That was how I found out it was a scam.
I've contacted the police today and since they said there was no means, motive or opportunity and money did not exchange hands there was nothing to be done.

I got the same call...the implication was the fugitive brother had my daughter, and she was in Crown Point Indiana, which happens to be where my daughter works.  I just about flipped out...called my son in law, who happens to be a cop, and calmly he took the information I had while I looked up the phone number online.  My daughter is fine, everyone in my family is fine, and I want to wring that a$$hole's neck.  Scared the bejeezus out of me.
