DO NOT CALL list only works with legitimate companies.  The scammers and con artists aren't going to adhere to the do not call list so I don't know why we get upset when they call.  The crooks are not going to check to see if you're on the do not call list before they try to shake you down for everything you've got.  I used to get angry about calls from organizations and solicitations and what not until I realized that the legitimate honest people are not the ones calling.  There's really no way to stop these scammers, junk debt collectors, con artists, thieves, and dishonest people from calling and calling and calling again and again.  However, you can stop them from interrupting you by blocking their calls.  The first time I get an unrecognized number I'll let it go to voice mail.  They don't usually leave a message ... only legitimate firms do.  If I'm in front of my computer I'll google the number and see what comes up.  More often than not there's a reference to 800notes.com and I'll just ignore the call and when I have time on my iPhone mark the contact "BLOCK".  If they're too aggressive, I'll add them to my Verizon Wireless call blocking feature (only blocks something like 10 numbers so it's not sufficient to stop these people).  I just don't let it get to me anymore, I just hit "Block Contact" and that takes the control from them and puts me in control.  So stop whining about Do Not Call because these a-holes are simply not going to check it before they call you to scam you for all your money.

received a call from them May 1, 12:37p and caller ID states Chicago, IL.  No answer on the line.  Later I get a call at 2:15 pm May 1 from 1-913-416-4044 caller ID states Kansas Call.  Female subject states she is from some Deputy Sheriff type of association out of Kansas who obviously are soliciting. Not sure if they are associated but you can change alot of things of phone to show whatever you want.  Please check with your local Sheriff Department to see if they endorse such an organization, what percentage of assistance are they getting.  Is your state or county even receiving any of it.  They should be able to provide you with the agencies they provide for in your state and what they gave so you can recheck that information.  Just because they associate themselves with law enforcement doesn't mean they are.  So please check out someone before you give them or money or just go with companies you know are legit.

They called to lower my bills.  I gave them totally fake information that they entered into their database.  I thanked them so much for helping me and laughed so hard when I hung up the phone.

Used my name when they called to get utility bill payment.  Responded that they had the wrong number to which they asked if I was her mother.  Repeated that they had the wrong number and then hung up.  SCAM!!  I don't have utility bills...all utilities are included in my rent.

Spoke in Spanish with a heavy Peruvian accent (I have Peruvian friends). Claimed they were calling to reduce my ComEd bill. I told them I was not interested and to take me off their calling list. She sounded shocked I didn't want to "reduce my bill". I asked them not to call back. We'll see. WHAT'S THE POINT OF HAVING OUR NUMBER ON YHE NATIONAL DO NOT CALL LIST?????????

We keep receiving phone calls from this number- they speak Spanish and somehow knew my father's name despite the fact that the electrical bill is on my mother's name. They knew his full name and requested verification of address, which my father ignorantly provided. When I took over the phone call to request their credentials and how the hell they got our information they hung up. I tried calling back from my house phone and cell phone with no luck. We shall see what they do next now that they know our address... Also wonder where else they're calling since all posts here come from Ohio and I am in Chicago... Anyone know what we can do to stop them from bothering us?

haven't answered this call but pretty consistantly call, makes sense it's an electrical supply company, I am up for renewal here in Ohio and somehow electricity suppliers seem to know, if you call or talk to one and don't sign up for their rate plan or just ask about it they sell your phone number to some body else I believe and try to make a buck off your number cause your a live person in the market for a new electical rate plan which we are; ever since de-regulation we have gotten numerous call with people trying to sell us lower rates despite the fact we locked in for a few years; that few years is not over, going with who ever is at 5.99 cents or lower locked in for a year, not cancellation fees; even 2 years ago they all had cancellation fees if you wanted to switch to a company that supplied electric cheaper; Duke Energy here in Cincinnati just isn't the lowest anymore and as far as know they own the poles

They are calling 3-4 times a day. My husband is shouting at them now.

They say they want to speak to the person who handles our energy bill. We tell them we are on the "Do Not Call" list.

I can't access the Do Not Call list because of our executive branch's inability to understand the legislative branch. I'm sure eventually (hopefully before we default to China) they will operate again

They called again today.  I called the PALMco number (which I had left a message with on Friday, Oct. 11) and finally reached Andrew, who told me they would put my number on their DNC list but to give them 72 hours.  They've had lots more than that since my first request.
Further information - PALMco and Columbia Utilities appear to be related companies, both reachable at 877-726-5862.  Robert Palmese is the "Member" that signed the Ohio registration for PALMco.  See http://www2.sos.state.oh.us/reports/rwservlet?imgc&Din=200902902670
My personal observation is Mr. Palmese must be a family member of this family owned company, which appears to hire poor immigrants to staff their sweatshop call centers.  It would be great if someone could locate and publicize Mr. Palmese phone number so we could all call him to see how his day is going.  At least once a day.  From public records it appears a Mr. Robert V. Palmese has a residence at Westminster Ct. and Callen on Staten Island, NY which is in the price range of someone with this type of business.

Did you get a response from the Ohio Attorney General? I'm going there now. We have been getting 4-5 calls a day from these people. They won't stop.

I agree wholeheartedly with you about the other thing.

During today's call I asked for the name of the company- was told Palmco Energy, 877-726-5862.  Recognized the voice as someone who had called before, and told him I have already asked to be placed on their Do Not Call list.  Kid sounded worried he would get in trouble, he may.  I submitted report of this AND THE PRIOR 5 CALLS IN THE LAST 10 DAYS from this number to the Ohio Attorney Generals office.  Thanks to the petulant Obama's inability to understand the House of Representatives was also elected with majority votes, and his inability to negotiate leading to the current government shutdown, the FCC website to file a complaint is not accepting any such complaints,  Honestly - they couldn't leave the website operating to receive the info that they ignore anyway?  If anyone reading this voted for the incompetent resident of the White House - shame on you.

I keep getting calls from this phone # 312-646-6019 nearly everyday, often multiple times a day. When I answer it's just silence and then after a while they hang up. I tried calling the # back but it never rings when I call it, though it does sound like it connects and after about 40 seconds I get a phone off hook type signal.

It all started after receiving a phone call from a guy named Dean claiming to call on behalf of "energy citizen". When I told him that I was on the 'do not call list' and asked him to take me off their calling list he said that it was a political call and that they were exempt from the 'do not call list'. When I told him that if I asked to be taking off their list they have to do it. He was reluctant so I asked for a supervisor and was hung up on.

Same old s*** different day.  I am about to disconnect my landline because all I get are calls from douche-bag telemarketers.  I ask them if they can't put me on their do-not-call list can they at least get a real job where they are not disturbing people.  They usually hang up then.  However, most of the time I don't get to talk to a real person and the call drops after I answer.  Why do they even call in the first place then, the greedy b*****ds, trying to field as many calls as they can.

It's a scam. Mine was a thick accented young woman in a loud room claiming to represent ComEd and how they can lower my bill. We get a lot of these calls. ComEd have put it in writing that they are never going to call their customers about this and if anyone does call, give them no information and end the call. Definitely a scam.

I just received a call from this company. The operator, with a thick accent, claimed to be from Ameren electric and wanted to offer a deal on electricity. The woman asked to speak with the person who handles the bill. I told her my grandmother could not hear on the phone. She than asked to speak to my grandma. I carefully explained that my grandmother was hearing impaired. I seem to have this issue with foreign phone operators. (English-speaking operators not in the United States.) Though I have had a couple in the United States. I tried calling ComEd to give up a heads up on a possible scam. Finding a phone number for ComEd required finding a different site as they don't have one listed for nonemergencies that's easy to find. I recommend calling your electric company if you get one of these calls to make sure you weren't switched without your permission.
