Hi,
I am writing a letter to the Indeed.com Corporate Office asking that they remove this job listing from their site.  I hope they can.  I find it very annoying to be a serious job looker, and have to deal with this type of conning BS with people who are probably in foreign country.  It has been showed on dateline and other shows where it happens all the time.

This is a big scam. I saw the job ad on Indeed.com and applied and sent my resume to a fake name (Helen Fielding) with a Ridgsby Inc (supposely in Washington DC).  I was leary because the ad stated $650 per week, but once I submitted my resume I received a reply that stated I would be paid $350 with 15-20 hours a month and she was out of town in Texas.  The orignal ad said I would be working 11:00 am - 3:00 Monday thru Friday. hmmm???   When I sent and email back to this so called Helen Fielding asking her to clarify the discrepanies I never heard anything further.  Dateline once did a show on these illegals and frustrating scammers.  They should all rot to death, preying on people in need of work. It's not fair.
My gut told me them to leave this scam alone.

Priority Mail:  Rosemary Gilchrist

Yes, to all.  Attempted to get me to after I answered a Washington Post Ad about the same job around the middle of November 2013.  Dig this, I took the USPS Priority Mail envelope, plus the check down to this unknown financial institution under the disguise of wanting to open up a new checking account, right.  I sat down with the Manager and demanded that a thorough clearance evaluation be done on this check that I had received from Emily Priestly, Bank of Iowa, in the amount of $2,790.00 for an online job that I had applied for.  While I'm sitting there, the bank rep called the Bank of Iowa, gave them all of the information listed on the check, plus all correspondence received and sent, and came back in about 45-minutes and told me that, yes, this is a fraudulent check and if I establish a checking account using it, I would be liable and a negative blemish would be on the account.  Hold up!!!  no way.  The rep also told me that this is happening over and over and over and over and over, but nobody has bothered to check BEFORE they deposit these checks from online companies alleging to offer jobs.  I left the original check with the security department plus all of the other info that I had received from this 312-879-9951 number.  But this is what got me.  I texted the scammers and told them that the 24-hr check cashing place would not cash the check.  They had the nerve to ask me "what the problem was?"  WHUT, sh**!  I texted back that I would love to continue to do the job but I will need you to send me $2,790.00, IN CASH, via Overnight Priority Mail, so that I could proceed with my responsibilities according to the AD.  Well, as of this moment in time, I still am waiting for the CASH to be sent to me, ok!!  Word up:  From now on ya'll, have your financial institution do a complete security search on any checks received from online job ads.  Just take the time, don't be in a rush to deposit or cash, even tho you need the funds.  We've got a lot of security/tracking capability in the U.S., so why not use it for your own protection.  If you think you gonna git scammed again, just ASK THEM TO SEND YOU THE FUNDS IN CASH, check for counterfeit, and see what happends.  Peace!!!

Unfortunately, the bank or financial institution where you cashed or deposited the check may go after you not only for the money, but for fraud (it has happened).  I'd talk to a lawyer - most lawyers offer an initial free (or reduced rate) consultation - so you can figure out what's likely to happen and your options.  You can read about fake check scams here - government website - http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0159-fake-checks  I'm sorry that I can't give you any other help.  This is a scam which has been going on for years.

Hi to Elizabeth and to anyone who responded to this number, i'd like to say sorry for you being scammed as it almost happened to me. After i deposited the money into my account i thought to myself there's something fishy about this check and the instructions. First of all he tells me her name was Helen Fielding and i googled the name Helen Fielding and come to find out she was a British Novelist. I called the number but didn't speak, the person had a voice mail and he had an accent to my guess he was Nigerian. He kept texting me asking me what happened to the check? I responded and told him it's been deposited just to play along. He texts me again this time i was so pissed i called him about the scam and eversince he hasn't texted back. I told him i had reported him to the FBI and investigations are ongoing. The long and short of my story is that i took a picture of the check and called my bank about a possible scam so they forwarded the case to the fraudulent office claims or something. The funny part was he offered me 10% of the $1,430.00 that was sent to me and also told me to send it through western union because he had ordered some painting from China and this moth******er had the nerve to use a white man's name as the recipient just elude us.

I am sorry to say I was scammed as well.    I did try to google and check all the names on the various documents but to no avail.   I still got caught.   Any thoughts as to if we can recover our loss.
