Apparently there is nothing that can be done to stop these annoying calls. Why aren't the state's attorney generals or the federal government doing anything to avoid "wire fraud" and or mail fraud? These calls keep coming at all times of the day and night. How can they be stopped?

Same scam, but the vehicle is now a hybrid

Received a call from this number and 312-962-0225 on both of our home phone numbers within 30 minutes . They are apparently working 931-762-xxxx this morning.
Both hung up when answered. Both numbers are on DNC.

Their equipment dials many numbers at once but their staff can only scam and con the first people to answer so the rest get hung up on.
The reason the government or legislature doesn't put a stop to these nuisance hang-ups by banning the use of unattended auto dialers is that the telecommunications companies make big money on charging the caller or the public one way or another each and every time one of us is called. Otherwise the Telecoms would soon put a stop to practice themselves. Telecom lobbyists get big money to make sure Politicians don't consider putting a stop to the practice.
Essentially our productivity losses, inconveniences, and the unwanted use of our time and equipment to receive these calls is being taken away from us to profit political campaigns, lobbyists, telecom executives and shareholder fat cats.

I, too, have received these phone calls (just got another one a miniute ago) and they always hang up when I answer. Figured it was a scam so won't answer again. Love this site! Keep up the good work!

I too received a call from this number stating that they had "very good news for me regarding my sweepstakes entry for a brand new Lincoln Navigator." I don't even remember entering such a sweepstakes so I figured it was a scam. This website is great...keep posting!

Just recieved same message, didn't use my name even though he "had my entry in hand." gave a different toll free number to call back (not the 312 number), looked it up and found almost 100 people over the last year recieved the same message about winning a Navigator. Not going to be returning the call

I also received a phone message from the Prize Distribution Center hinting that I had won a Lincoln Navigator. My voice mail identified the caller's number as 312-963-0079, although his message was to call 1-800-301-3436 (so watch out for that number, too). Lucky me -- thanks to this website's info, I'm NOT going to be calling him back! Thank you!

16 Ways You Can be Phone Scammed
18 Nov 2008
When we started 800Notes.com we had no idea that telemarketing fraud comes in so many flavors. The variations include 'cramming', 'slamming', credit card scams, calls from telemarketers pretending to be IRS, sweepstakes and lotteries scams, advance fee loan scams, phone toner scams, fat finger dialing scams, and area code phone scams.
Typically the goal is to get you to reveal personal, bank account information, or to make you do something that will result in unwanted charges on your account. Individuals and businesses are equally affected by these scams although the schemes might be different.
In this article I will outline the 16 most popular phone scams. I am sure there are more, so if you have been a victim of a phone scam, or you know of a phone scam not mentioned here, please share it with me and the readers in the comments.
Send this article to your family members, co-workers, and employees. Give it to your teenage kids and elderly parents (studies show they are the most vulnerable to the scams). As the old saying goes, "Forewarned is Forearmed".
2. Another phone scam involves calls from ?Prize Distribution Centers? that claim that you are the winner in sweepstakes or a lottery. Of course, you are not the only ?winner? in the lottery and tens of thousands of people received the same call. The goal of the scheme is to entice you to make a relatively small payment (for example, shipping and handling fee, a sales tax) promising that a much bigger prize will be sent your way. Once the payment is sent, you will most likely not hear from the company again, and a promised ?Lincoln Navigator? will not find its way to your driveway.

They left message. It was the grand sweepstakes giveaway for a Lincoln Navigator. A big SCAM!
