This number is the Customer Service number for the Unemployment Office in Michigan.  They'll leave a voice mail with a direct number to the representative that is calling you.

The past couple of months I have received calls from a "Restricted" number on my cell phone.  When I answered them it would make a loud beep as if it was a fax machine.  Every Monday around 10am and then again about 10 minutes after that I would get this number calling me.  Now I have this 313-256-0000 calling me.  There is no message left and when I answer the call it beeps the same way.  However when I call this number back I get an outgoing message that states it is Michigan Bell and it is some type of repair service.  The message sounds like it cuts short and it does not let you leave a message. This number called me 6 times on Wednesday starting at 7:42 am.

recieved a call at 3:50 june 17th 2010 not really sure why i recieved this call i  started a job on 06/01/2110 they wanted to know if i was claiming for both weeks 5/24/2010to05/28/2010 and 05/30/2010 to06/02/2010 i told them that i startaed on 06/01/2010 they said that they would cut me a check for 362.00 i have called the number several thime to figure out what is going on but i get no responce i am puzzled about this call please if you can help me with it  i would really appreciate it thankyou

313-256-0000 is a STATE OF MICHIGAN number. This is not a real number, but a mask number to sheild the true caller ID from the phone which is calling you. Some of you may have called the number back and received either a fax tone or spoken to a live person, but it is a mask nonetheless. A friend of mine who works for the State, called me and this number showed up. I have this person's direct line, and even they have stated that this mask is used to conceal their true caller ID.

Received a call from (313) 256-0000 which I did not answer.  They did leave a message, it was from Michigan Unemployment asking me to return the call at another number.

It's the unemployment agency. They will leave a message with a different number to return the phone call to.

Michigan Department of the Treasury.  Called in response to an email that I sent them this morning so it is legit.

Received 6 calls from this number within 3 hours.  Never was there a message left, when I answered it beeped like a fax machine.  When I called the number back it stated it was Michigan Bell but did not let me leave a message.

Got a call from 313-256-0000. The person left a message telling me that she is calling from the Michigan Unemployment Agency, regarding an inquiry I emailed earlier. She left a completely different number for me to call back on. The call was completely legitimate, as I did  send an email to the Michigan Unemployment Agency just minutes before the call. I called the number she left, & got the Michigan Unemployment Agency...legit.

However, when I called the number that was displayed on my caller ID (313-256-0000) I DID get an outgoing voicemail that said "You've reached Michigan Bell residential repair service."

I don't know if the State of Michigan Unemployment Agency has the SOLE control over that number, or if others can use it also. Strange.
