Their calls started a couple years ago asking me to be a gas customer.  There are no gas lines here in the forest, I am on propane, and told them so.  They still keep calling, now for some other kind of crap appliance service.  IMO, the whole company should stay in Detroit and go down with it.  I filed a complaint with the DNC list every time.  Someone also listed this location to file a complaint, so that is next:  http://www.michigan.gov/mpsc/0,4639,7-159-16368_16415---,00.html

Just called DTE re these calls, have received daily over a week now never leaving a message.  I called their customer service #1-800-477-4747.  Was told it was from their sales dept for appliance repair contracts.  They gave the #1-800-556-0011 told them I wanted NO more calls re this, told me I would be put on a 'do not contact' list that would take effect within 24-48 hrs.  Maybe this will hbelp you all!

I've gotten a call from them every day for over a year.  This is not acceptable.  There is no need for this.  I AM on the Do Not Call List and have asked them to stop calling.  Doesn't make any difference.  And people wonder why people are rude back to them and call them names.  They obviously don't pay attention when people are nice. So people have to go to extremes to make them stop.  In my case I'm not rude anymore and no longer cuss.  I have health problems and that kind of stress will kill me.  So instead...I take them to court and sue them.  It stops the whole process.  I get 15 calls a day for the past two years, from different companies and I'm on the Do Not Call List.  This company just being one of them.    I finally got sick of it.  I haven't done anything with this particular company...yet.  I've got caller ID, and have no problem proving in court, how many times a day these people and companies call.  It's disruptive the constant phone calls.  I have sick family to take care of as well as myself with Cancer.  I don't need to be jumping up every 10-15 minutes, to answer these type of call, all day every day year round.  I'm sorry that some people need this type of job to live.  They have a right to work.  However I also have the right NOT to receive these calls at my home.  My boyfriend has been receiving these calls on his private cell phone number which is illegal.

They have to stop calling you if you request to be put on their INTERNAL DNC list even if you do business with them. Notice the next to last sentence in the following from the National Do Not Call Registry website:

Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you?ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls. However, if you ask a company with which you have an existing business relationship to place your number on its own do-not-call list, it must honor your request.  You should keep a record of the date you make the request.

I've requested several times to be placed on their DNC list but they continue calling. I'll be submitting a complaint on the National DNC Registry today. Their address is http://www.donotcall.gov

You are incorrect about them adding people to their Do Not Call list when requested. I'm on the National Do Not Call Registry and got their call so I politely asked to be added to their internal DNC list. I've since received over a dozen calls from them, mostly the annoying type where the computer dialed my number with many others at the same time but the operator can only answer the first one that picks up. When I was able to talk to someone, I once again asked to be placed their DNC list. I still get the calls! By the third time I spoke to someone, my patience had gone and she got yelled at! I don't know what it takes for these people to understand that I will never purchase anything from a company that is harassing me! I am filling a complaint with the National Do Not Call Registry.

No I have to say you are very wrong the first day they call my house I told them no thank you and asked to be put on a DNC list. They would not take no for an answer and kept trying to push there extra service on me. I must have told them nicely 5 times no thank you. And then yes then I got rude and asked them do you not understand what NO THANK YOU MEANS. And now they have called my house every weekday for the last 7 days after I asked to be put on the do not call list. And you amaze me what in the world does someone's educational background do with the vulgar language that comes out there mouths. Vulgarity has much more to do with how you were brought up and if you have any morals/scruples. Have a nice day.

They have called every weekday for the last 8 weekdays. I don't think it's fair that they can do this. I think some companies take advantage of pestering people even though you tell them no you don't want there extra services. Because the do-not-call-list can not stop this company from calling you if you have DTE as your energy supplier.

I live in West Michigan. DTE- HPP called this afternoon. I answered. No one was there so I hung up. I figured it was DTE Energy calling to get us to sign up for their appliance protection programs. I might consider it if it were more affordable. For the amount they want to charge I can pay a repair person MYSELF.

Any company that is making a sales call or informational call to their customers is prohibited from leaving messages on an answering machine by the FCC. However, when DTE is calling to alert you of the meter readers being in the area, they can leave the recorded message to please make sure your pets are in a safe area. I understand the complaints about telemarketing calls. My son works for DTE and the calls are made through a computer system, not dialed by a human. It is set to ring a certain amount of times and then disconnects if there is no answer. If you are not interested in the calls, just request to be placed on the DNC list, it takes about 40 days for a number to be removed from the computerized system.

DTE ENERGY has an appliance repair program that is offered state wide using local repair techs. It is against FCC regulations for any business to leave a sales message on an answering machine. I understand how annoying sales calls can be. People do not have to be rude to the callers, they have a job to do and when they are requested by the customer, they are placed on a DNC list. My son works for this program and it amazes me that educated people feel the need to use vulgar language and try to demean the person making the calls by telling them they are stupid, should kill themselves because they are low lifes who need to get a real job and the list goes on. He works here in Michigan and most of the people that work with him are in their 40's to 60's that have an education and several degrees. The job pays well and he supports himself, his wife and two small children. As with any call, you dont have to answer it and you can hang up or request the DNC list. It that were your mom making the call would you be that rude to her?

They've called several times. They want to sell you overpriced "appliance repair" coverage. It uses the phone ID DTE-HPP. The HPP is for High Profit Program.

It is Detroit Edison [DTE] trying to sell service plans on appliances.  I've told them and told them that we are Amish and don't have electric gadgets.  In fact, I shouldn't even be answering the phone.

This is part of marketing the DTE (formerly Detroit Edison) Home Protection Plan, that covers appliance repairs, etc.  A neighbor told me that they switched her from her existing program (offered by Consumers Power [the competing gas/electricity provider]) after talking with her, even though she said she wasn't interested in changing.
