My experience is the same as Jennifer's: When I answered, after one ring, there was on one on the other end of the line and when I tried calling back, the call disconnected immediately with no answer.

Well, I didn't TRY to call back. But I received 2 calls within an hour of each other. Only rings 3 times the second time so you can't get to it anyway.

Elsewhere on this site folks complain about multiple incoming calls from the same or similar numbers.  All have the double 55 following the three-digit local exchange.

I'm just going to report the number to the FTC. This is usually very effective and you can do it online. (Just google FTC online complaint form.)

I don't know who called. I called back and no voice and diconnected right away.

314-627-5528 - Phone rang two rings, I picked it up and before I could even say "hello", a woman said "sorry" and immediately hung up.

Hi, i received two phone calls from this number today. i missed the first but answered the second, sounded like a child saying "hello" and then they hung up. I didn't recognize the number or the area code, but i thought they maybe political ads due to previous calls i received this week and the upcoming elections. still its annoying, i don't vote for the F'ers who call like this.

This number left a voice message on my phone today. I listened to it and it was just blank. No sounds that could be heard on first listen. So I listened to it again and there was a VERY faint rustling sound in the background. I did not phone it back but it called me an hour later. The phone sits next to me so I answered it instantly. Before I could even speak, a womans voice said "Sorry" and the call was disconnected. They rung again, but I didn't answer.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but if this is a scam, then it's a very poor one.

Sounds like it is a political robo-call number. For me, it was our local town councilman reminding us to vote tomorrow.
