I realize that they said that they said that they would remove my number, but you stated that they would not, however, I have not received any more calls from this outfit since I contacted them. So, perhaps it did work. For now, I haven't received any more calls from them.

You called scammers back and in so doing you CONFIRMED your number. So your really think that they will "unsubscribe" you from something you never subscribed to in the first place? WCA are some of the worst scum to ever ring phones.
Well, what happens now is that they sell or trade your CONFIRMED number with other scammers, you get on more sucker lists, and you get more junk phone calls. Oh, and they will continue to call you too -- WCA has more criminal enterprise tentacles than you can count.
Want to try to do something about it? Instead of calling crooks back and expecting them to cooperate with you, complain:

Called number back and it sai WCA Subscriber Services. It was an automated system, but I finally was able to tell the system to "cancel" my number and was told that it could take 7 business days. What a pain, especially since I use my phone basically for emergency calls and to hear from my daughter at college.
