Got a call with the same b***s***. I looked up the name on my caller id. It was kapilsh91. After doing a quick search of kapilsh91 on facebook. I found a kapil sharma who has a lot of fancy toys for someone who comes from an area of the world that cant build a sturdy one-walled structure. I looked at some of his friends and a few are in the computer business. So, hopefully I can catch a plane to Kota here soon. I was an interrogater in vietnam a few years ago. I know quite a bit about intel work. So Hopefully i can persuade him to shut his operation down...permanently.

Parents got a phone stating the same bull as above.  My parents allowed them access to the computer.  I told them they shouldn't have.  I called the number in question and ask who he was and what company he worked for.  He said Window's Technical Department.  I ask id he worked for Microsoft.  He said no.  I ask for the company name.  He didn't have one.  I asked how he got my parents phone number and how did he know they had a virus.  He hung up on me.  Now when I call the number it rings once then goes to a busy signal.  Has anybody had privacy information stolen after dealing with crook?

Got the same call just an hour ago from "Windows IT" obviously from India saying my computer had reported viruses.  Said I was in the middle of a work call and needed to call back.  Was given the 315-277-9899 number and told his name was "Jack Thomas."  Total SCAM.

Called, said MS had determined my computer had a "trojan" and they would help me remove.  Said his name was Jack Thomas, tho I doubt it as very heavy Indian accent.  I asked if I could call back, but after seeing this info, I don't think I will.

I got a call on Thanksgiving too. Same as the posting above (heavy Indian accent) but the name was different (something Thomas). Asked him to give me the directions and I'd write them down since we had just started eating. I was pretty sure it was a scam in the first place. Said that he'd call back tomorrow. He did, the same guy with the same story. When I asked for directions he asked if I had my computer booted up and was at it. Would not tell me directions because I told him that I'd write them down. He asked me who would help me if I had any questions. I asked for a number also, I agree very fishy!

Got a call on Thanksgiving morning from this number. The speaker (who had an Indian accent) identified himself as Steve Smith from Microsoft, and said that I had a virus on my computer, and that he needed to walk me through steps to identify and correct it. It sounded fishy, so I asked if he could give me the directions now, so that I could go through the process later on. He said no, he had to be with me to tell me the steps, and I had to be at my computer along with him. I asked him if I could call him back, and he gave me this number. Sounds very fishy!

Got a call from a "Private" number, the guy said he was from Microsoft and I had a virus.  He told me to go to my browser and put in teamviewer.com.  When it tried to place a cookie that expired Dec 31 9999, I got a bad feeling and shut the browser down.  I asked him if my hubby could call him back; got his name ("James Parker") and phone number (315-277-9899).  Hubby, who is a software engineer, said that program is one that will allow remote viewing and had I continued, I would indeed have had a virus.

Had a call from this number, Indian accent, "from Microsoft management systems", told me my computer was spreading a virus which was getting worse and infecting more computers, "dire"!.  Wanted to take over my computer; told him the system was fine as it is only a little netbook I use for traveling, and I could do a system  restore easily if I thought it was compromised.

My mother got a phone call from this guy. Said he was from Microsoft, which was a lie, along with that she had a virus on her computer, which also isn't true. Attempted to remotely connect with the computer to take control of it using a program called Team Viewer, the program itself seems to be trustworthy.
