Get these calls routinely, this phone number and others, people claim to be from Microsoft, and your computer is severely infected. They want you to go to your computer and type in some code (most likely malicious).  I hung up on them and called Microsoft, and they told me that they will never initiate a call to someone. Enough said?

I received the same type of call.  First, an Indian fellow claiming to be from Microsoft.  I couldn`t understand him so he passed the phone to someone else.  He got me to click run and asked me to enter a command.  I refused saying I don`t know who you are.  I asked for his number and said I would call back to verify it is indeed microsoft. He told me to ask for Mr. Ritchie when I call back.   First, I went to google the number before calling back (to see if it pulled up a Microsoft number) and got say this notice come up.

Thanks to all for posting their experiences to help others.

I had these same scammers call me today.  It must have been their seventh or eight call in total.  They are very persistant people.  I played very computer illiterate and they fell for it.  When they call it is from an "unknown caller", "unkown number".  The connection is very bad.  Their english just as bad.  Anyhow, the first time they called I let them do their stuff for a while and then told them I had to run and could they please call later.  The second time they called I told them that today my internet is down.  Two minutes later I was called by a different person who wanted to help me get the internet up.  He was left frustrated.  I decided to get ready for the next call.  I did a clean install on an old hard drive and just installed my antivirus software and nothing else.  The 30 day key registration icon was on the bottom right.  They called me before I could hide the icon but they didn't see it.  They basically did their best to show that they have mastery over the computer.  They would show me perfectly normal things and say that they were bad and made so by the virus on my system.  To further show their authenticity they game me the following info;
NAME: Jason
Emp. ID: AE201A2
Cust. Care No: 1-315-285-4200
Software
1.) PC Tune UP
2.) PC Cleaner
3.) Temp Cleaner
4.) Super Spyware

Their service fees;
one year support $150
Three year support $249
Life Time Support $349
I then told them that this was the final straw.  I am going to install Linux on my computer and be done with Microsoft.
Too bad my computer skills aren't strong enough for pay back.  I still can't shake the feeling I got once they though they had me.  I feel for the victoms of these people.  To the nice hackers out there, "Prove you know your stuff, go after these a***oles!"  Get some payback for every old person they scammed.  Yes, there are nice hackers out there.

I got a call stating that my computer has been sending too many error messages.  That part it true.  Unfortunately the rest of it is a scam.  I played along for a bit and it became more and more obvious that I am dealing with a scammer.  Microsoft will never call you out of the blue to help you.  In fact Microsoft is part of the problem here and not the solution.  All my attempts to warn Microsoft were useless, that's how much Microsoft cares for it's customers.  The telephone number the scammer gave could be anybodies.

Received a call from Martin at international PC Support (NY). His name is Martin but the funny thing is that he has an indian accent. He said my computer is sending several signal error and he can help fix them. He also said that all Ms Windows systems are registered through them so they can monitor them and fix problems. No toll free line provided to call back on- provided only 315-285-4200.  I become suspicious at this point as when I tried to call back- there was no answer at the number.  If this is a legitimate call centre, you will remain in a queue till someone is able to take call.

They called last night using a different number  1-210-210-1739 (Looks to be located in New York)
. A man Called Mike with indian accent said that his company was authorized by Microsoft to check a problem on my computer.
I asked how do you know I have a computer?
He said, you have a legitimate windows 7 installed and we have it registered. And because your nomber is legitimate we have been contacted to solve a problem.
Your computer is sending a lot of messages and feedback and we receive them. You are infected by several viruses. To prove it to you go to the computer and turn it on. How long it takes to boot, 20 seconds? 45 seconds or more?

Then he asked me to type some commands on the computer and to check a screen that was coming up. And from his side he read a number that was my computer CLSID, 36 characters including some dashes. The number was correct, so they have ways of getting information from my computer.
I said II dont know who you are, do you have a phone number to call?
He gave me the number and I called from another phone, someone answered and handed the phone to him. Then after he transferred the call to another man with indian accent too. I don't remember his name, but was an english name.Afer doing an extensive routine in my computer checking configurations and processess running and everything else they made me download a program PC optimizer and they installed or had already installed a remote desktop that allowed them to see my computer and control it from there.

After the whole think they wanted to sell me a license for a sofware and generate one for me. They gave me tree choices, a lifetime licence for $299, a six year licence for $199 and a three year licence for $149. When I said tha that I needed to decide what to do they said that may computer was going to crash in a week, and asked me how many children I had and said that they were going to be old by the time I decided. I saidd, I didn't called you, you called me and you are selling me something. He said  that the software was free I only needed to buy the licence. I said, Same thing , your sofware without a licence is just junk. I had to decide what to do. He asked you said no?  I said, yes, I am not buying it right now, so he started deleting mome files we had open, I closed the internet connection.

I don't know if this is a legitimate call, but they have powerful software and know the computer system, so they can move around your computer. Be careful. The software is called PC Optimizer, and there is another called AMMYY
