This is not the only call I've received. All bogus. Got one last week at home. After the guy told us who he 'was', my husband said FU and entered *70, which blocks the call. Today the call came to my cell phone from a Special Agent Douglas Coleman, who is a real DEA guy working in Arizona. The number, however, is a NY number and the same one on this website - 315-308-3252.

I have been getting the same calls from these guys - two different guys - with the same scam.  I called the DEA in Syracuse and they have no record of the names being used.  I reported them to local law enforcement and had their number blocked from my phone.

Left message that I returned and very convincingly explained I was a suspect of a special DEA investigation looking into purchases of illegal medications. Explained that it was very serious and agents were en route to my office where they had an arrest warrant for me. Kept explaining that it was a very serious situation and I was going to jail for 24-36 months. They basically started saying that with my clean record it is an unfortunate situation and that they might be able to do something. It started getting a little fishy but they had radios going on in the background in which they were talking to someone saying they had the suspect on the phone who had called voluntarily so please call the field agents to hold off. Put me on hold for a minute at which point I looked up the phone number and saw it was listed on several scam sites. I played along a little further wondering how this was going to turn into a request for money. The caller, who should going to acting school as I give him a 8 out of 10, who up until the end was very convincing but then said there was a way for me to have the arrest warrant revoked if I was willing to deal with the process quickly. Finally they got to the gist of the call and said that if I submitted payment in the amount of $910 they would stop the entire process and after a very convincing act they then asked me to go and purchase pre-paid money cards of all things. I just laughed and said nice try and started to hang up and they stated yelling that the 'suspect was on the run and not being cooperative and expect agents any minute'. I hung up and they called back a couple times but didn't leave any messages. Totally b****oles who almost ruined my weekend.

I received a call from a DEA person. Basically cough up $1000 or go to court because of an illegal drug purchase I made in 2007. I refused and he hung up. He tried to be very convincing, but it didn't "ring right:" with me.
I reported the call to the Report Extortion Scame: 1-877-792-2873.

ALERT - EXTORTION SCAM - ALERT
DEA Warns Public of Extortion Scam by
DEA Special Agent Impersonators
The Drug Enforcement Administration is warning the public about criminals posing as DEA special agents or other law enforcement personnel as part of an international extortion scheme.

The criminals call the victims (who in most cases previously purchased drugs over the lnternet or by telephone) and identify themselves as DEA agents or law enforcement officials from other agencies.  The impersonators inform their victims that purchasing drugs over the lnternet or by telephone is illegal, and that enforcement action will be taken against them unless they pay a fine.  In most cases, the impersonators instruct their victims to pay the "fine" via wire transfer to a designated location, usually overseas.  If victims refuse to send money, the impersonators often threaten to arrest them or search their property.  Some victims who purchased their drugs using a credit card also reported fraudulent use of their credit cards.

Impersonating a federal agent is a violation of federal law.  The public should be aware that no DEA agent will ever contact members of the public by telephone to demand money or any other form of payment.

The DEA reminds the public to use caution when purchasing controlled substance pharmaceuticals by telephone or through the Internet.  It is illegal to purchase controlled substance pharmaceuticals online or by telephone unless very stringent requirements are met.  And, all pharmacies that dispense controlled substance pharmaceuticals by means of the lnternet must be registered with DEA.  By ordering any pharmaceutical medications online or by telephone from unknown entities, members of the public risk receiving unsafe, counterfeit, and/or ineffective drugs from criminals who operate outside the law.  In addition, personal and financial information could be compromised.

Anyone receiving a telephone call from a person purporting to be a DEA special agent or other law enforcement official seeking money should refuse the demand and report the threat.
