I received an email about an "Operations Clerk" job from patrol_international.  With this number from New York. possibly Utica.  Brian Meyer also had a second number from Geneva  33-533-31-63.  The email required me to download an application.  I decided not to download anythin without more information.  I  did not respond to application per se instead I asked for a snail mail address.  In response, my "resume" was "accepted but they needed more information.  I decided not to download the application still with no other information where it came from.

Like Matthew, I recieved an email about a job as an operations clerk for International Patrol. Based on my review it looked too good to be true so I decided not to go any further. I'm glad I did.

I did not receive a call from this number, however I did get an email randomly about a job as an Operations Clerk for 'International Patrol' and this number was on the bottom of each email. I was very skeptical because the job seemed way too good to be true and I was instantly accepted for the job when I sent my application back as a reply. I stopped and decided this was a scam when they asked for a scanned copy of my government ID or Passport as I refuse to send it without knowing if this is legit.

I received a call from 777-988-0780.  The person said his name was David Max, who sounded as though he were from India.  He said that I had applied for a Govt Grant in Feb 2009.  He said that I was going to receive $5,200.  All I had to do was go to my nearest Western Union and pick up the check.  He would hold on the line while I went and would give me the info over the phone to fill out the forms.  He said I needed to take $312 as a deposit.  That would secure the $5,200 but that within 4 min I would not only receive the $5,200 but the $312 would be returned to me as well.  He gave me his phone # as 206-201-2624.  He told me he was in Seattle Washington.  I asked who the check would be from and he said his Manager.  I went to Western Union and began filling the papers out but fortunately my cell phone died.  When I got home I got a call from 315-510-4222 and the person said that he was the verification dept.  I asked him where he was calling from and he said NY.  I asked where in NY and he didn't answer.  I asked him again and he said NY NY.  I told him that was not a NYC area code.  I knew this because 315 area code was mine and I live in upstate NY.  While I was on the phone with him my husband goggled the number and found the above info.

I got a call from a guy named Thomas James Martin with a Middle Eastern accent claiming that he worked for the US Government.  He said I'd been selected to receive a grant for $5,200 since I've paid my bills and taxes on time.  He proceeded to ask for my address and birthdate in order to verify my information.  He said that I would need to go to a Western Union to receive the funds.  I asked him to give me the Western Union confirmation numbers and he said he couldn't until I was at the WU in person.  He said I would have to call (315) 510-4222 once I reached the WU and they'd send me the money after I sent them $199 as a fee.  Of course, I said I wasn't interested and hung up.  This is a scam!!!!!

UPDATE:

I did alittle research and found this

http://www.snopes.com/fraud/advancefee/grants.asp

states:
- The U.S. Government does not telephone people to offer them Grants.

-Real Government grants require extensive documentation with great attention to detail. There is nothing simple or painless about securing a Government Grant.

Individual whom called me claimed to be "David Max" sounds Indian or of an Arabic background.

I told him, he is a fake and read the above statements to him. He told me he will "take me off" the application and hung up. Please do not fall for any Over The Phone SCAMS.
