Same as everyone else received the call that it was windows Tech department And said they were the only ones able to correct the virus issue.  I would not give them any information, I askedhim how many computers I had that were on myaccout,he said 3 I do not have 3 I ave 13 on my account.  I told him I would not give him my information with out without knowing who he was, he said he was "Albert  His" , I researched and that person died in 1940, ad the phone number is 1-315-636-4647, and that it is a scam . From Brooklyn New York. Called me 3 times I asked for is employe ID number Andre said he did not have one, if he was for real he would have a badge number to be followed for customer complaints. Beware people do not fall for this scam. If you are having computer problems go to a local computer store and they will fix it for you.  They will not scam you cause they live in your town and you probably know where they live also.

The reason behind the Indian accent is that some times calls from US gets transferred to Windows in India. But they are really trustworthy as i also got my computer fixed.
T

Thanks to them.

I got the call, and may as well have been scammed.  Unfortunately I got as far as opening a Western Union account and they got my credit card number.  I shut off the computer at that point, but too late.  I reported it to the credit card people immediately, and they said there was a $1.00 charge from Western Union.  I explained what happened, and later the fraud department called me and cancelled my account.  I should have had them cancel the account immediately.  We'll see what I will be held responsible for.

I got a call from "Paul Smith" who said he was the "System Engineer of Windows Company" and wanted to tell me about the serious Trojan Virus that was on my computer.  He sounded Indian and the connection was not very good.  I told him I didn't have a virus, and hung up.  He called back a minute later and insisted that I take him seriously, because this virus could cause me to lose all the data on my computer.  I asked him for a phone number, and he gave me 315-636-4647, and said their office was open until 6:30 pm (the calls happened around 4:30 pm CST).  He also reminded me not to turn on my computer until my husband or I called him back, or I might lose everything.  Needless to say, I will not be calling him back.

I have been duped by the same person at the same number just yesterday!

I was told the same problem existed on my computor, and agreed to have Windows 7 Ultimate installed, which I see it was.  I called Microsoft today and find that they do not place calls as this to clients. I hope the scammers go to jail for a long, long time!

I received a call that showed no caller ID, i.e. a blocked number call and the thick, Indian accent said his name was Steve Jackson and he was caling from the Technical Department of Windows. He said he was receiving urgent error notifications about my computer on their system, which was also impacting their servers. There were harmful viruses that were literally eating my computer day by day. I was skeptical and asked what phone number I could call him back on and he said to call 315-636-4647 and ask for Steve Jackson and then he would call me back. I hung up and found this site.

A Help Desk client received a call from this group and allowed them to install software on her computer and even get her credit card numbers. She has subsequently had her computer disinfected and cancelled her credit cards. The person / people with whom she spoke matches the above descriptions re: accent, etc. One person claimed to be Peter PArker. She has also reported this to the FBI. They are continuing to pester her, and my counsel to her echoed the advice above.

A guy called from this number with a heavy Indian accent telling me his name is Mark Robinson and he is callig from Brooklyn New York and he is with Microsoft Windows Technical Support. He stated that there was a virus on my comuter and he wanted me to turn the computer on so that he can show me how to delete the virus.  I suspected that this was a scam so I toyed with him for a few minutes then I cursed him out and hung up.  They called back and insisted they are legitimate. I told him give me a few hours to investigate, then hung up again. I am glad my senses were correct.

Three phone calls from this company claiming to represent "Microsoft technical department" Caller ID was 111-111-1111 and the return phone number I asked for they gave us 315-636-4647. Harsh accent and could not readily understand everything the individual was trying to say. However, the crux of it was he wanted me to go into our computer system so he could show me all of the viruses that were going to make our computer(s) crash in the next few days. He indicated that he knew this information based on Microsoft essentials reporting. When I asked him if just one particular machine was infected or all seven he said all seven were reported to be infected. When I advised him we only had two he was at a loss :-) I would assume Microsoft had a little better communication system than these folks.

I received a call from this number claiming to be from MS and was trying to get me to go into my PC system to change things around without not being able to properly identify themselves as a legitimate company!
