Obviously phishing since I don't use that FCU. Also, financial institutions don't use this method for things like card deactivation.

They also sent me a message today @ 5:03pm that said the exact same thing. ive never heard of FCU and I did not call the # they provided. Obviously a scam.

Just received the same message....
same number.....

We just received the same message on our cell phones. We have Verizon and this number sent the same text message to 4 of our 5 phones. We are in the area code of 317. I called Verizon and they gave me some options if it keeps happening.

I received the exact same message and I replied to it. I put in a fake card number (that started and ended with 9999) with a made up PIN. They asked me to change it so I put in a new made up PIN. I work for a bank and we don't contact customers by way of text to inform them of card deactivation. And once a card has been deactivated it's usually not reactivated, because, as a precaution, we can't risk any exposure to fraudulent activity. The automated system told me that a bank representative would contact me in 24 hours to confirm the activation......OF A CARD THAT DOESN'T EXIST. You gotta admit, it's kinda fun to screw with the people that are trying to screw you over. Needless to say, if someone does call, that'll be a fun conversation.

I too just received the same text message and got that sinking feeling that something was wrong with my card. I decided to call the number back from a different phone, not the one I got the message from, and also got the same single ring then forced disconnect.

They just texted us and asked for my social security number.

Just got the call ourselves. Verizon service. What a bunch of jokers. I really hope no one falls for this but you just know someone will.
