Janice, I am a deputy Sheriff and there is no way we would give anyone access to any phone records period, unless it is through a court order.  And if you actually have a warrant for your arrest, there is no way we would alert you to that fact over the phone for obvious reasons.  Walter talking about man up and pay your debts, but im pretty sure walter isnt all perfect as he proclaims to be on here.  Everyone on here has run into some kind of bad situations, unless they were born with a silver spoon in their mouth.  Since Walter worked for a debt collector, we know he isnt rich either.  But the fact is that these scumbag debt collectors do a hard pull on your credit report.  They use the contact information and whatever phone number is in your credit profile to start data mining information in hopes you pay them whatever amount they say you owe.  Under the communications act, they cant even get your info through Freedom of information Act. That is limited to public records. Your cell and home phone are private.  What you can do about organizations that do this is call your states atty generals office.  I have heard of people suing these companies for up to 2500 per violation for harrassing people.  I am ashamed of those type of collectors because they make the sheriffs department look bad by posing like we have sent out warrants. what you can do to protect yourself and I suggest this to the many identity theft victims i deal with is to 1.  Go to www.annualcreditreport.com and pull all 3 credit profiles.  2.  Sign up for www.creditkarma.com, thats a free site to where you can check your credit score through transunion for free.  If you find something strange or you didnt apply for credit with anyone that done a hard pull on your credit.  Dispute it immediately.  Thats against the law for them to do that unless you applied for credit through them.  And a scumbag debt collector, Who applies for credit through lifes lazy a***s. well at least i dont have a department of investigations credit card.  Good luck with everything Janice and anyone else who finds this post helpful.

Walter, you are correct in if a person ACTUALLY owns the debt.  I work for a debt collection service too but under the FDCPA and FCRA, we have no legal authority to threaten, intimidate or use under handed tactics to collect on old debts.  The company I work for buys them for pennies on the dollar in hopes of collecting on some that are near the statue of limitations.  However, if you are an ethical debt collector, you have to provide a burden of proof.  For ex. a written contract bearing signatures, proof that there were transactions between accused and original creditors etc.  I have called many people and get hit with a brick wall, they will ask me for these things and the truth is, 98% of the time, debt collection companies do not have them, well at least i know mine doesnt.  So, before you go telling people what to man up and do whats right and pay the debt, keep in mind you are not being a man by taking advantage of a majority of people who do not know their full rights.

This Lady (Christi Lane) calls me, saying there is a warrant for my arrest, for a payday loan that I took out way back in 2008, I have credit attorneys working for me right now, got ahold of them and they said Do Not Pay its a scam. Then I called the police dept. and I have no warrant.

Christie Lane called me as well thinking she was going to threaten me. I told her that I was researching the number while she was on the phone running her mouth. The number is a phone hobby. A number that is switch from her original number and with it out of IL and I also gave her the switch #WCHTKSMRDS0. So when I told her I wasn't going to stop til I pin point exactly where she was, she hurried up and hung up. The thing never thought that I would find her but I am not threw with her just yet I transferred the recording and the information I found to the local FBI

Walter, u may work for a collection agency, but you should know that there are a lot of scams going on right now.  If you didnt sign anything and didnt receive the loan then you are not responsible to pay for something that you did not received. Threatening like going to jail for a debt is breaking the Fair Debt Collections Practice act. Thats why collections agencies get a hefty fine for that. So people, if they threatening you, report them to your local Attorney General's Office and to The FTC. and always ask for proof.

I did pay and had proof. It was deducted from my checking account. But I will never do that again. It took an attorney to stop the harassment. You may have worked for a legit organization but there are numerous that are not.

You took the loan out.  They don't just pull your name, social security number  out of a hat.  I use to work for a collection agency who forwarded cases on to this company if we couldn't collect on it.  The issue is NOT the loan , its the METHOD you agreed to pay.   People need to man up and take care of your debts.  Everyone wants to scream fraud , fraud, but you know that money was in your account and you requested it.   You people are the frauds.

Sincerely

Bill Collector.

they called me threatening to send a warrant out after me if I did not pay the full amount today.. they would only give me 24 hours to come up with almost 3 times the amount of the so called issue.  It was a payday loan that I never took out or have record of.  This is very scary and something needs to be done.
