I filled out a student loan application 2 weeks ago. I might go to school in the Fall.  Sooo I'm behind paying off my debt alredy???? LOL....But I haven't got the loan yet, also haven't signed anything.  Ya think this is a scam????

Up to their old tricks with a new number, 317-578-6000. This is the same group that uses 800-766-7242. If you get either of these number on caller ID don't bother to answer. Report them as nuisance/harassment calls. If you have, or ever did have a loan with Sallie Mae, call them directly and make sure all is well, up to date, or closed out. Protect your credit, while you are protecting your privacy and personal information.

This number calls me and does not leave a voice mail.  I'm 15 and have no loans, so I'm sure its a scam.

Keep getting calls from this number and whoever is calling is from India and I cannot understand even 1/3 of what they say. They leave message and I have no idea what they want.  

OUR SM loans are up to date.   but we keep getting a letterS  from SM And then Florida Department of Education with the wrong first name saying its in arrears. I googled it and called the number and said they would correct the system also with Sallie Mae  and it would be processed immediately.  it's a  time consuming deal with the automated idiot system  with Sallie Mae  and experience HAS shown that their system is slow anD out of date and full of ACCOUNT and name mistakes.   I'm also sure some of these calls are debt collectors who don't care if the system is faulty  and scammers snooping into our Records and online search sites using pfishing  and spoofing.   this is been going on for a couple years now.   so my advice is to  sign up for online access  and get contact by email and block all of these scamming numbers.   also for those of you  who have never had a loan in your entire life but have changed your home or  cell phone number  you may be getting calls for previous owners who owe debt.   I've had my phone for 30 years so I know Sallie Mae records are screwed up. all it takes is a typo I've seen it happen in other companies too.

Sallie Mae keeps calling for my DEAD ex-husband.  I sent them everything they asked for, death certificate etc... but keeps bothering me.  

They left a message saying I was a reference for my daughter. Said to call 800 766-7842. I think that was the number, their english was hard to decipher.

just got a call on my cell from this number.  I didn't answer as the number didn't have any ID.  I don't owe ANYONE or ANY COMPANY...  NO LOANS!!!  Don't know why they would even call my number, so consider it a wrong number and I will not call back to find out .........

This number is definitely Sallie Mae student loan servicing center trying to find me :(  They will continue to blow up my cell phone until I come forward and set up payment arrangements that I cannot make with them.

They call me sometimes ten time a day even at 11 pm in home and threaten me for collection, One time a spoke to a real person I asked her to send me a note with the mail and they never did

This number has been calling cell phones and home phones of ppl I have been in contact with. I once used sallie mae as a financial aid and did owe them. They have taken funds from my taxes to be paid off which has stopped a few years ago. I have also recieved a letter in the mail that sallie mae had harrassment charges for calling ppls private lines such as cell phones.One of these ppl they are trying to contact is a new aquiantance to me and I have no idea how they would have gotten their number. I believe this is a scam and I would not recommend calling numbers back or responding to anyone that calls you. One phone number put on my voicemail was spoken by a foreigner and I could not fully understand him but the number I believe he said was something that turned to be a sex line.

FYI "Audix" is the name of a type of voicemail system.

I continue to get calls from this number, five to six per day! They leave a msg saying it is " Family Sofa". And to give them a call back at an 800 number!!! I have RAF the posts here,I have mop loans put with Sallie Mae!!! Why are these people not in jail???

This is a Sallie Mae number. My goddaughter gave them my number so we could do a 3-way call for them to send me a fax on her behalf. Her student loans are paid by her government agency employer and the data has to be updated annually.

Rec'd. a call this day, (Aug. 1, 2012) with the name Sallie Mae asking for my daughter.  She had a student loan with them back in the 80's and is paid OFF.  They hung up on me when I said she does not live here and I am her mother.  I tried to call this number back and it requested me to put in contact number and then hit pound.  I didnot have a contact number for the individual that called my residence; the recording stated, "goodbye."

I have no student loans and they keep calling me. I reported them and threatened them, but they keep calling.

Got two calls from this number today. 1st time I hit decline on my phone and then the caller called back within two minutes. They left a voicemail saying they were Sallie Mae calling to inform me the terms of my loans had been changed and I need to call back at 888-272-5543 to verify these changes.

After reading the above posts I am not sure I should call back.

Constantly calls for a Sharon or Shannon Brooks.  I have told them numerous times there is no one here by that name and to stop calling this number.  I will be reporting them to the FTC.

Why?

I have been receiving calls from this number on my cell phone. It was Sallie Mae. They said they were looking for my daughter so she could receive information about her loan to pay it back. It was a $2000 loan and she paid on it for 4 years. They say she still owes $2000 due to penalties and interest. I refuse to give out information without checking deeper into it. Looks like I was right.

THAT'S BECAUSE IT'S A GOVERNMENT AGENCY. YOU HAVE TO FIND A CONSUMER ADVOCATE ON HARRASSING GOVERNMENT PHONES OR START YOUR OWN.  Your not going to find one Gov. agency to go against another one (just won't happen)   I had a problem with a government entity and tried going thru the BBB they just about laughed in my face  BUT they did send my letter of complaint to that agency and we are getting results I guess these agencies don't like seeing thier dept names in lights for the wrong reasons.  Bottom line is you should talk to who ever will listen.  GOT A PROBLEM WITH DEPT OF ED.  CALL THE VETERANS BUREAU AND BI*** TO THEM THEN CALL SOCIAL SECURITY AND TELL THEM YOUR STORY. Eventually, someone will put you in touch with someone that can help, and if not,then everyone you've talked to will know what an assh*le agency is and rumors get started within the different gov. departments.
