I got a call from this number, it states Sallie Mae?  Someone left a message with their cell phone number to call back on and a # to use. Anyone know what this is.

Recd call on May 24 stating Sallie Mae 917-806-8600.
My phone goes directly to fax so they wasted a call.

I received a phone call from this number 317-806-8600 which not only showed up on the caller ID as SallieMae but also implied they were a representative as well looking for information on an ex.  I called Sallie Mae up promptly and reported them and was told that the number which called was not Sallie Mae and now that company has been forwarded to their fraud department and is now under investigation and from what I am told they could be looking at hefty fines and the possibly jail time.  I will also be looking into retribution as well, these people are not who they say they are and should be prosecuted to the fullest.

I am receiving calls from this number several times a day, and when I answer there is no one on the line. I have tried to call it back but I cannot reach anyone.

This number is a debt collection number.  I've called the voice mail number they left and it was for someone with an outstanding mortgage.  Regardless of how many times I have told them that the person they are looking for is not at this number, they promise to not call, they wait 3 weeks and start again.  They have also sold this number so that I am now getting text messages from debt consolidation firms.

i have been getting repeated calls for Lisa engelhardt.  there is no one by this name at this phone number nor has there ever been.  Please remove this number from your data base.  we are getting very weary of these calls as we have been receiving one to two calls a day.  the number seems to be traceable to fishers IN, but do not know who the company is that is making the call

The reason you can't get through on the 317 number when you return the call is because companies can't force you to call a number that may cost you money.  The # they leave on the message should be an 800-562-2525.  SAC is a company representing the Guarantor of student loans with Sallie Mae (NOT Fannie Mae or Freddic Mac as some people think), Citibank, Wells Fargo, etc etc.  The representatives at Student Assistance do not need a payment to get you up to date, they have other tools provided by the government and your lender, providing you havn't exhausted everything, in which case they have contact #'s to get you up to date.  Do not avoid this call.  Student loans are federal debts, and can be garnished for repayment should they default.  The good news is if SAC is calling you, you aren't in collections yet.
