Wow, your words are as my own. I just came back and read your post immediately after calling this place back. I asked them why they would call my home and immediately hang up after just a few rings. This snotty woman tells me, well maybe they realized the person whom they were seeking to reach was not at that number. I got so mad....I was telling her that her statement was ridiculous because how could they possibly know whether or not that person was here, when they didn't let a human or any machine even take the call. I find this to be totally bizarre....so much so, that I am concerned as to just what their agenda is. Why on earth would anybody even bother to make place these calls and then abandon the calls before they are connected. I don't know what they could be up to, but something is very fishy about this whole thing. And did you ever notice, it's always the businesses that are evil and crooked that have that disclaimer when you call, letting your know they are recording the call....I don't give a rat's behind, they can record it all they want. The people at these agencies are no different than the bullies on Facebook....If I were challenging them in person, they would likely show a bit more respect. Cowards.

Called this morning. I could hear someone on the line but would not answer me. I said Hello 4 times then they hung up..

Constant messages for the wrong person.  Says to call 866-292-5084 and provide a reference number.  I tried calling back to get the calls to stop and they said the refence number is invalid.  Tried 2-3 times then blocked number from calling.

I just received a call from the same #.  It is from Sallie Mae who provides student loans.  If your son has a student loan with the, look for a phone number on their website and contact them that way.

My nephew defaulted on his student loan and used me as a reference without my permission. he provided my name and cell number when he completed his application for the student loan. since he has defaulted, they have been harassing me. I talked to a rep once and asked her to remove my name since my nephew used my without my permission, she said it didn't matter. I don't pick up anymore! Don't PICK UP!

still getting phone calls even got something sent in the mail from them but no one in my family has that name return to sender it went.  apparently these companies areas do not talk to each other or care to take numbers off computers.  
i finally picked up the call and it goes "this is not a salicitation (sp?) please stay on the line for an important phone call" and then hangs up.  
yeah if this was really the grc or anyone else important and not a scam they wouldn't hang up if it was so important.  they must know from prior phone calls they are going to get cursed out.

i know how you feel i get the same calls.  i never been in debt and never had debt i am a single parent and it is like they know that so they feed on it.  besides i agree with you its only after tax return season and they stop and then start up again same time every year.  but why not the rest of the year bc they are not a real debt collection agency. I bet the people they scam out of money they run to vegas with it or something and that is why once they scam someone the number is no longer in service.

this is getting really annoying i report these debt calls to the police and everything else i can report them too.  i have been getting calls since we moved down here.  their best excuse to scam people out of money when you don't owe the debt is either "this will hurt your credit report" or "we spoken to someone at this number before". yes you talked to me so i could tell you are looking for the wrong person or same name different person and number stop annoying me.  how can i be in debt if you been calling since i moved and never got this call before.  oh and my family and i have had 100% credit scores for our whole lives.  
it truly is sad that this happends to so many people but its like why us ya know how many times i have told a debt company to try some else number with the same name and they still call back.  it is like i can almost make bets on it that every year after tax return season some scam debt collection agency saying they are offical call.  it is a sad thing but so true.

i don't know what state you are in but in some states its illegal for collection agencies to call people at work and if you tell them once not to call you there and they do it again....the debt is null and void

they call all the time, I just let the machine pick it up, and the person just says please call me back.  Ya! Right!  I don't answer the phone unless I know who is calling, and if you can't say what the nature of your call is then don't expect a return call.

They are collecting on student loans that are already under garnishment and paid in full via that venue.  They are also identifying themselves as the IRS vs. Department of Education.  File a complaint with the FTC.gov

These people called my cell but didn't leave a message.  When I called the # back to see who it was they wouldn't identify the name of the company.  They asked for my social security # -- and when I refused to give it the operator acted like I was being difficult.  Even using my name and phone# they couldn't come up with any reason why I might have been called.  I told the operator that I had looked on the internet and read that this company does debt collection for student loans and if that was accurate then they should know I have never had any student loans so there must be some mistake.  She said she could not confirm or deny what it is they do, and that the calls would probably keep coming since I could not give a case number or my social.

They've called two times and since I didn't recognize the number on caller ID, I didn't answer.  I answered on the third call and was hung up on after I simply said hello.  I called the number back and was transferred to the person that supposedly called me.  That person stated that they were looking for Kimberly somebody and probably had the wrong number and that they are allowed to hang up after 4 rings.  I stated that I had answered at 2 rings and asked why they hung up before even asking my name to see whether or not it was the right number and hung up on them.

Well just be lucky they are just calling people with the same name. I had a company take me to court because someone had the same name as I.

now i'm getting calls from this number. I owe no one. They never say anything.

These guys keep calling me at all hours of the day. They are looking for a person with the same name and ask me to verify some personal information which I refuse to do.

Apparently, somone has defaulted on their student loan and they are calling everybody with my name to try to collect. They must not have the right phone number of that person so, they did a Yahoo search and came up with me and 14 others.

Caller ID comes up as 317-806-8712 to a company called RCC

This outfit is based out of Indianapolis, IN.
