Received a call from this number yesterday. Did not answer. Another FINE example that our government does not follow through. My home and cell numbers ARE registered with the DO NOT CALL list. The ONLY people who have my cell number is close family members. Go figure!

Rang mobile. Left no message.

My, my. Blame the "victim." Stick to the issue and not the person.
Correct, it is undesirable to have the hand (and ear) of government interposing itself in your private (telephone calls) business. On the other hand, calls from fraudulently generated sources (spoofing) can be controlled technically without personal rights violations. Yes, there is financial benefit to the LECs and CLECs, so the battle is uphill vs either TELCO voluntary cooperation or government enforcement of the laws already in place. However, to blame recipients of spoofed scam calls is highly misdirected. These folks did not initiate the calls. Good advice is not to answer calls from numbers not familiar. Better advice is not provide any information if a call is mistakenly answered, and best advice is not to engage in any conversation, just hang up.

319-000-0001 called my cell. I answered but no one was there.

These calls are complete scams. Only irony that you may have been approved for a new card....they don't "have" your information unless you give them some.

Robo call was something about reducing a credit card or mortgage rate. I did not "press 1" to talk to a live person. Call came in to cell phone.

When I answered I asked how to get off of their call list and he said "shove your credit card up your a**?

>>> Stupid, the government lets this happens. <<<
No, *you* are stupid, and the government *doesn't* "lets this happens [sic]."
The government doesn't own the private companies that run the Internet and the phone system. So they can't control who can and can't call your phone. Would you really want the government to have veto power over who you call and who can call you?
Secondly, the private companies that interconnect to your phone want to force you to get calls like this. They don't care who calls you. All they care about is that they get their call termination fee and/or a fee for forcing you to get their enhanced call blocking services.
Third, *you* are to blame for not knowing any better than not to answer numbers such as this, which are clearly faked. *NO* telephone number in the US begins with a "000" or any other number less than "200" following the area code. In those places where 7-digit dialing is still allowed, dialing such a number within the specified area code will either connect you immediately to an operator or gather at least the next seven digits for a special, high-priced, operator-assisted call. Since there are only six digits beyond the first "0" after the area code, the number is incomplete and cannot be a legitimate number.
Learn *something* for yourself. Don't rely on the government to save you from your own ignorance.

Recorded message. If I had a credit problem I would be the one making the call. These scammers continue to screw with people and their money, when will the government step in and eliminate them?
| Suz 2014-04-26 20:00:44 Unknown |
Automated message claimed to reduce my interest rate, press 1 to talk to a live person. A man with a very thick Indian accent came on theline. I asked to have my number removed and he asked my name. I said I just want my number removed. He replied, "I'll remove you number if you remove you panties."

| Anna 2014-04-24 16:59:21 Unknown |

Just got a call from them on my cell phone number. Didn't know the number, so ignored. No voice mail. Adding it to the "call filter" on my droid.
