Phone #319 242 7346 calls my cell phone everyday 2 or 3 times.  It says the call is from Iowa.  It has called now for about 2 months.  I never answer so I don't know who it is but I wish it would stop.

Well, I don't HAVE any fricking DEBT AT ALL!  So what the hell are they calling for?  If they want to collect a debt, WHY DON'T THEY SAY ANYTHING?  They just hang up.  That is complete bunk.

The group is CBE a collection group

They're a collection agency.  They need to verify your information which is why they ask for SS# etc. The reason they don't leave messages is because the very laws mentioned regarding harrassment PROHIBITS them from leaving messages. They're entirely within their right to call in an attempt to gather information in order to collect the debt. They're not doing anything illegal, just annoying if you have a debt they're trying to collect (like I do). Deal with it.

They continuously call several times a day. I know who I owe and have taken care of my debt. I added them to my "Auto Call Reject List" where when they call the call never goes thru on their end only on mine but yet they still call.

CBE group call 905 EST, too late to be calling people by the way.  I have no debts and I never had.  I am proud of that, and I am annoyed to be getting debt collections calls that are not meant for me on my home phone, especially when no one has ever had my number, but me.  It really, really, makes me question where they are actually getting their information.  I have reported them, as I do all of these calls, to the DO NOT CALL LIST COMPLAINTS.  Good luck collecting a debt if you insist on calling the wrong people all the time.  Idiots.

I just got my phone a month ago and CBI was the first phone call I received.  They call morning and night, but no one is ever on the phone or leaves a message.  So what's the purpose of these calls?  Do they intentionally not leave messages so they can't be sued for harassment or maybe just inside the rules?   I think they should be stopped!!!!!!!!  Thanks for all of the advice above, I'll follow thru.

No, this does not work.  I have been ignoring calls from CBE group for over 3 months and if anything they are calling more, up to 10 times a day.

They call day and night, Night and DAY!!!! god they are awful and it's for someone other than me.
OH and if they get you talking they want you SS# to verify wethaer it is you they want to talk too.
AW HELL NO!!! God only knows what crap they are up too. I DONT care if they are the CDE GROUP. There are harrasments laws for creditors to obliage by. If they dont they can get in real trouble. i think it's funny that they call and get a message that states;

:Hi you have reached the answering machine if you'd like to speak to a real person press one.
If you'd like to leave a message for some who care press two.
If you'd like to try and call back again you'll more than likey get the some message.

The way I see it is if I owe someone, I know who they are. I pay for my phone to convenience me not them. I receive calls from this number everyday. I never answer. They leave messages such as "hello"  "hello". If they don't even come on the line themselves instead of a machine in order for them to hear if its me on the other end or my machine than I say "well too bad"

like the other posters, I am getting several calls a day from this CBE group, when I do not answer, no one leaves a message, when I do answer, they want me to answer personal questions without me knowing why... yeah right! I put them on the block list through my cell phone carrier. I don't know how they got a hold of my unlisted/unpublished number, but this is rediculous.

What should I do when a telemarketer has me cornered?

Without a call screening device:

You will need to conform to the letter of the law concerning your dialog with the unwanted telemarketing call, to put them on legal notice that you do not wish to receive any further calls.

Here are some suggested questions to give you the ammunition you need to take action against them should they continue to pester you:

   First qualify it as a telemarketing call: "Are you selling something?"
   Get the operators name: "What is your full name?"
   Get the company's phone number: "What is your phone number with area code?"
   Get the company name: "What is the name of your company?"
   Make sure they maintain a "Do Not Call List": "Do you keep a record of those who request that you do not call?" (If not, they are in violation of federal law)
   If they do, ask to be placed on it: "Could you please put my number on your "Do Not Call" list?"

I have listed my number on the  "Do Not Call List" but still receive calls from this number several times a day.  They never leave a message only hang up.  This is very annoying.

i have been getting calls from 678-331-7242 and now from 319-242-7346 and both are CBE group. Get several calls a day. I actually talked with someone there and she refused to tell me the reason for the call until I confirmed by SS #. She also asked if I was still living at a certain address and the one she gave me was an address I have never lived at let alone ever heard of. I asked to have my name taken off their call list, but they are still calling. I will be taking legal action.

i get a call from this # 2 or 3 times a day, they never leave a message, i get very sick of them calling, i do get several other calls from #'s they leave a message asked for a brian to call them asap because they have a issue they need to address. the 319 # though never leaves a message. i assume they are calling for the previous owner of my phone #.

This number keeps calling my teen aged daughter. I know she has no debt.

I have told this company that the debtor does not reside in my home.  Despite this FACT, they continue to call my home REPEATEDLY.  The debtor does not have a name similar to mine.  My answering machine has MY NAME ON IT.  When I answer the phone, I answer it WITH MY NAME. I have advised them not to call and harass me but they continue to do so.

I received a call from this number earlier this afternoon.  I missed the call but I called back a few minutes later to find out who had called.  Reached a recording that thanked me for calling the "CBE Group".  I just hung up after that.  I've been receiving calles from this group for a few weeks now, but it's always been a different number than this one.  With the other number (319-274-1908) they'll either hang up when you answer or they'll simply say nothing.

The easiest, quickest way to do away with this call and ANY other: If you don't reconize the area code the call comes from, DON'T ANSWER IT.  After about 2-3 days of not answering the call, they quit calling.  I know the area codes from all my friends and family members, so when I get a call, unless it comes from a known a/c, I dont answer it, they quit calling.  Simple.

Had a missed call from this number around 215pm today. Good thing I didn't hear it ring!
