I got a call from this number earlier this evening. A younger guy explained he was calling on behalf of the Iowa Dept of Health in conjunction with the CDC and had some questions if I was willing. I didn't see the harm in it and none of the questions were strange. Whether I'm from Iowa or not, my healthcare status, my medical status, how often I drink/smoke, random childhood questions about abuse (though he stated a few times I could ask him to skip those). It seemed harmless and he never asked for my name or any specific information but who knows.

This number has been calling me for past 2-3 weeks. Usually in evening. After about 20 times they called during the day. Tired of it ,I answered ! They said it was a survey for mental health through UNI. Asked if I was busy I said yes but after I had been called 20 times that I just wanted it done. They hung up and now they just keep calling. Something I forgot to mention they did ask if the number they called was a cell phone and whether it was a business or personal phone.

Answered the call...music on hold sound....the web says this is Cedar Falls, Iowa calling for alumni donations...all of which I have zero connect with. I put it in "Call Control" on Android, and reported it as unsolicited telemarking for the blacklist.

They called but didnt leave a message.  I think this is the first time they have called me from this number.  I hope this doesnt turn into a regular thing.

This number has been calling my cell phone 3-4 times daily.  They never leave a message and I do not answer unknown numbers.  It's annoying and I'd like it to stop!

Got this call daily 2-3 times a day for a few days on my cell phone and no messages were left.  Call this number (319-273-5555) and someone will help you!  This is very frustrating.

319-273-7840 has called me every day for two week between 6-8. Every time I cal back its a recording for UNI. When I finally get ahold of someone I am going to use some choice words. I am freaked pissed off it will not stop.

I worked at the CSBR in when I was in my undergrad at UNI.  We did have some state-run surveys that required the last 4 of the SSN (I highly doubt they asked for the whole thing).  It's legitimate, and your daughter definitely didn't hurt anyone's feelings by refusing - just made a college kid excited that they didn't have to ask some of the awkward questions those surveys ask.

Any calls to outside numbers coming from the University of Northern Iowa come from this number.  It could be from an administrative office, the CSBR (Center for social and behavioral research; most likely conducting phone interviews for a government grant) or from academic offices.  The university decided having a number come up on the ID looks better than "unlisted" or "restricted".  If you call the number back, it will probably direct you to the UNI public relations or some other general office.

My daughter received a call from this number stating they were doing a survey for mental health and asked her for SS#.  When she refused, they said they couldn't go on with the survey.  They have called again.  I am going to report this to the police.

I have no previous ties to UNI and have received 2 calls from this number.  I did not answer and they left no message.

This phone number is assigned to all outgoing office (not residence hall) calls from the University of Northern Iowa.  There is not a way to track the number back to the person.

This is the University of Northern Iowa Foundation. They call to ask if you want to make a donation. They have been calling me daily because I made a contribution in the past while I was a student at UNI. I finally answered today and was greeted by a student employee asking for a donation. I said no and do not think I will be receiving any more phone calls.

I too received calls from this number at 6-8pm daily. I also went to UNI, so maybe this is the reason.

This number calls everyday at almost the same time ~7:00-8:00PM.  When calling back it goes to the University of Northern Iowa.  I work with automated calling systems so I can venture a guess.  The only system I can think of off hand at UNI that does this is the automated system that informs students of Problems on campus.  I'm sure there could be other telephony systems that are integrated with their PBX however this is just speculation.  Your best bet is to call the caller ID number, write down what it says and then call 319-273-5555.  This is the general IT help desk for the University.  If your lucky you may get forwarded to someone who can help.
