My call came from Mrs. Mary Moore, Nova Medical Centers. The phone number on the text was 515-605-7577.  Moore identified herself as the Hiring Manager and wanted to conduct an interview via Yahoo Instant Messaging.

In the interim, I googled Nova Medical Centers and called the corporate office and got in touch with human resources. I was transferred to the Head of Security IT.  The gentleman who spoke with me told me that the corporate entity known as Nova Medical Centers is aware of this SCAM and have engaged the FBI to investigate. Apparently, this has been going on for sometime.

I was advised not to provide this person with any information.

Meanwhile, knowing that this person was a fraud, I had a little fun the next time "Mary" texted me on my cell phone.

At this contact "she" told me to yahoo IM her at "ElizabethJones61@yahoo.com".

I texted: "hmmm, strange. In a previous text, you told me your name was Mary!?!"

She replied, oh yes, Mary...  Elizabeth is the supervisor.

I then told her that I had set up the IM. (Which I did not!). "Mary" texted me back in 5 minutes and said QUOTE:  "You are a liar." You did not set up the IM.

I texted back...  Ha!  Look who's calling who a liar.  I told the scammer that I had called HR @Nova and they had no such person working for them.

This unleashed a torrent of vulgarity, culminating with the scammer asking again for personal details.

My message to the scammer is two words...  And as you can all surmise, they are not Merry Christmas!

Received a text stating the same things as listed above. The text sounded fishy so decided to do a google search before responding and was glad that I did. Because of what I've found out here about the phone number the text was sent from ( 513 443-6419) I will not be contacting them.

I just received a text about a resume found for me.  The grammar was awful.  I then tried to call the number - left a VM with my callback number regarding the position, but did not leave my name.  Seconds later I received another text letting me know they wanted to set up a meeting  via yahoo messenger.  I texted back stating my computer is in the shop at this time and asked if they could contact me by phone for this.  I have not received a message back yet.  We will see what happens, as I have a close friend in fedral law enforcement dealing with businesses.

Just got a text/email from a "Donald Brian". It seemed odd that it didn't even have the company I had applied for in it [Administrative Assistant is all it said], I checked with my girlfriend to see if she thought it was legitimate. She said to try it because it couldn't hurt [which is true since we were both already seeing it as fishy] but, seeing as how it's a GA number and I'm in TX, I decided to look it up. Glad I did.
Thanks for the heads up!

Same here. Received his email on yesterday. This certainly was a wake-up call for me! Instead of offering to buy the items for me, he said I'd have to purchase the items myself, then I'd be reimbursed via PayPal... I was willing to purchase the items needed to get started, but something told me to continue investigating the company and Anderson Thomas. Found you guys -- So glad I did!

They just got in contact with me, too, via some dude named AndersonThomas186@yahoo.com!  I thought it was a job offer from another healthcare company admin. assistant position that ironically I had applied for that morning!  They claimed they had seen my resume on Indeed.com, too.  I'm glad I didn't finish the interview, because the job was supposed to be in the next town over, and then he BSd me by saying that the office was going to open right here in MY TOWN.  As small and country as my town is, there's no way in hell a business is going to open within a month and I've never heard about it!

I just think it was convenient that all the sudden, the job is in my town!  And then I was using less grammatical and syntax errors than he was while being 'interviewed'!  The big red flag for me, though, was the fact that they didn't try to use the email address of a legitimate company, i.e. "so-n-so@sonichealthcare.com", and DIDN'T use the email addresses I offered on my resume! I've done virtual interviews before, but this reeked of bullsh1t.

I am right now talking to this men named Thomas anderon186.yahoo.com and its funny cause the same things that happened to you. I'm going thru now. Some how they got my résumé on indeed. Com and they said I would have material being sent to me and today when they gave me my track number I went to check it and it ended up in IL, how that happened I don't know but they claim it was because I sent them the wrong address. I think I know my address. I'm researching more about them everyday and truth be told something doesn't feel right.

I received the same email and from the expect same two people (L something Simons or something like that and Anderson Thomas) the exact same way with the EXACT same wording. I keep getting a gut feeling that it was fake but what really put the icing on the cake is that the mailman didn't deliver my package a van came not fed-x (which he said was coming) and when i looked at the check the signature did not match the name on the check. i called the bank it "came from" they could not find anything from that account. then i happened to run across this page. He told me to go now and cash the check or deposit it into the atm and the money should be available to me within 24hours or less which is bull**** because with an amount that large everyone knows the wont give you the whole amount until it clears. Then he kept asking me how long will it take me to run to the bank. The very last time I went to the sonic healthcare website i came across a disclaimer that said something about we will never ask you to deposit a check or send us money, you will never get a third party email or will we post jobs on third party job pages. I cursed his a** out and told him do not contact me anymore. I never got a call..if I did i did not answer it and they left no vmail. I only got an email.

This just happened to me!  I am so grateful for this website. I received an email, no phone call from a woman claiming to be Letitica Simon.  I had applied for a job with Cigna Healthcare, and they sent me an email stating that I needed to set up a yahoo messenger account and a man named Anderson Thomas would be contacting me today from 8:00am-5:00pm.  When he finally contacted me and interviewed me through IM, he was asking weird combined questions that included the information that others have posted regarding my duties.  I was smart enough to copy and paste them onto a word document.  They were as follows:Your job duties are:

*Enter admission and billing data for clients and payroll information for employees into the computer system, and forward documentation to the appropriate processing center.

*Maintain client/employee records, and distribute copies of compliance documentation to appropriate branch staff based on Company approved standardized paper flow.

*Ensure all client and employee files are current and complete, interface with administrative staff to gather deficient or inaccurate documents, and notify the manager when employees do not respond to requests for needed documentation and any other related data entry tasks that may be assigned to you by the supervisor.

Your task and assignment will be sent to you daily via IM and Emails and you are to submit work back to me at the end of the day via email. The pay rate is $20 hourly and training pay is $10/hr. M-F, 4-6 hours daily and 40 hrs. a week and the pay day is every Friday of the week...Benefits include: Health, Dental, Life and AD&D Insurance, Employee Wellness and 401k plans.Paid Time Off and Holidays with Generous Company Discounts.

Then after he told me that I sounded like a perfect match for the company, he told me that he needed to contact the board of directors to verify my information and that he would be back to me in a jiffy.  After an hour later he came back online and offered me the job and told me this:

You will undergo a week training from your training supervisor, He/ She will be training you on how to work with the programs accurate and other Data entry works you will need to get done. Your training is going to be done online through your PC and Phone. You will be Fax or Emailed a paper work and a HR document during your training and orientation, you are to fill, sign and send back via Email for proper documentation.. Okay?

The Job offer Flexible hours;you are required to report online here on IM from Mon/Fri by 8 a.m your time daily for duties, task, assignments and updates about your package starting from Tomorrow.

Just to inform you that Sonic Health care will be providing you with all mini office equipments needed to begin work, training and orientation with your supervisor, all equipments will be signed and customized with the company's name and logo that would be used for the data compliment by the company certified local vendor...Note: A Check will be issued and mailed out to you for the purchase of the software materials you will be needing and the following office equipments are:

11:34 AM
I will be sending you the tracking# to the package so you can keep an eye on it to know when you're getting it.and i will provide you with the vendor details you are required to make the purchase of the materials from when needed...Also you're expected to report on your PC and check your email daily so that you don't miss any instructions regarding the payment delivery and instructions concerning the shipment and as soon as the check is delivered, you are to report immediately on your yahoo messenger for further instructions.

This apparently is a scam after reading all of your comments.  I deleted the yahoo messenger account after telling him that if he contacted me again I would report him to the authorities.  I hope no one else gets caught up in this lie....

Wow! I went through the interview process yesterday with a so called hiring manager name Anderson Thomas, who is 57 and lives in Covington ga. I received a text message from a Ga number #4782163695; i already had a yahoo messenger ad when I added in his name, he popped up with a hello. like he was waiting for me (red flag) he described the company really well; I did research it which is a lab place; and it had none of what he was talkin about doing (duties like data entry) i answered all questions and he told me to wait for the board of directors. he asked for my name, sex, and location; I told him I was located in brent al which he said an office will be opened there (which i knew was a lie; a red flag because if you found my resume, how come you don't know my personal info like my name, address, email, home number; how come no job ads are found in the papers) but i gave him a demopolis al mailing address. I told him that this is a scam because why do they need to send a check for me to cash to get the equipment and get the materials at a selected vendor? why cant they just send the equipment? he said he is not asking me to send funds; they will send me the check, i get the materials and put everything in my name cause they have other employees as well. (that was also a red flag) before finishing up, I asked him where would I cash the check? being funny because I already knew it was a scam. he then said further instructions will be giving after receiving the check (that was also a red flag) he said a tracking number will be giving to me the third day which Is on tomorrow but after reading all these posts, I just emailed him, and said you are a fraud; I knew it was a scam since day 1 cause it was too many red flags; it sounded too good to be true; i'm not stupid and I hope they find your stupid a** behind a computer and i reported him as a spam. I will rather work in public than behind a computer at home.

I am sooo glad I was smart enough to google Anderson Thomas before I agreed to the job. I got the same type of text messages and went on yahoo to have the interview with Anderson Thomas. Too bad I didn't google it until the very end of the "interview" but I am very glad I found this out before I got scammed. So thanks everyone for saving me a whole lot of trouble.

Curious was the office being opened in your hometown?  I live in a small town and am doing the instant messenger interview right now.  I was skeptical so I was checking them out.  The job was supposed to be for Tuscaloosa, AL, but suddenly after telling him the city I reside in it suddenly changed to my small town where the office will be located.

I had someone try to run this scam on me. It was from the number 513-443-6419. She said her name was Ann Byrne and that she found my resume.  She refused to tell me how she came across it. She wanted me to get on yahoo messenger to complete an interview to work from home.. I told her I didn't have a home  computer. "She" kept asking me the same questions, wanted me to provide personal information that could have been found in my resume. I didn't let it go any further. I told the person I wasn't interested in being scammed, so if they were going to start offering to send me checks just stop there.  They immediately stopped texting me.

I also got a text  from a scam artist calling themselves Kate Spargo with Sonic Healthcare. The phone number she was texting me from was 408-260-5270.  She emailed me some information and even has the real Kate Spargo's picture attached to her email. I thought it was suspicious that she wasn't using a Sonic Healthcare  email, that was my first red flag that this could be a scam.   Then there were misspelled words and some bad grammar. (SCAM) I got on the google chat as she requested and let her go all the way thru her "interview".  When she said they would be sending me a check for my office equipment for me to deposit in my bank "thru an ATM"  (they don't want you to use a teller of course) and then I was to withdraw the money and send to the vendors, I called the scammer out.  I told her (or him) that if they were legitimate, they would not need for me to go through my bank account with the funds and then order the equipment myself. This is her response verbatim "Things are not done that way! You have to handle the task yourself.  If I should send money directly to the vendor I will be accuse of employing family and friends, which I don't want to lose my position and spoil my reputation in such assistance". These people are not total amateurs. It dawned on me this morning that I probably need to change my passwords on everything, she kept telling me she had to talk to "the superiors" and to leave my computer on, she would be right back. Who knows what info she sucked out of my laptop.  They have studied the right things to do and say to make them believable up to a point.  They know a lot about Sonic Healthcare and how to word job descriptions and what language to use in interviews.  I believe Sonic Healthcare is a reputable company and that  the real Kate Spargo is an upstanding person of integrity but these people are using Sonic Helathcare and Kate Spargo as part of their dirty SCAM.

I have been dealing with a so called hiring manager for a Sonic Health Care. Her name is Kate Spargo from Cleveland Ohio. I saw a post on craigslist.org for a job position doing office admin work and sent in my resume. Shortly after I received an e-mail stating that I had an interview with this person at 8 am via Yahoo Messenger. I did the interview even though I had to sit and wait until about 9 am for this person to come online and begin the interview. I was promised health benifits, paid vacations, paid holidays, and a 401 (k) plan. Also I was promised $20 an hour for working on my computer from home. I was told that I would receive a check in the mail to open/deposit in my checking account. Then I was to scan a copy of my deposit receipt and e-mail it back to this person. This check was to be used for purchasing software for a laptop that my "supervisor" was suppose to bring to me. I received the check this past Friday and went to my bank. This is when red flags started really showing up. The bank refused to even open an account with the check I had. They told me it was a fraud check even thought the account was real but there was no money in the account. So right now the check is being verified as a fraud and as soon as it is cleared I will know for sure it's a scam. But here is the humdinger of it all. As technology over the years has progressed we can now send messages from Yahoo messenger to cell phones. Well my account was not set up to receive or send messages from yahoo. Today I have been receiving message after message stating that I have received the new check that they had sent out yesterday when the last one took 4 days to get to me. I think this is the same person you might have dealt with in the past.
