It is a scam. Checks like this can take weeks to clear. You will be asked to and them a check for the $1990.  They will cash it. Then several weeks later your bank will notify you that their check didn't clear and you are responsible.

I suggest you call the number and tell the gentleman you will deposit the check and as soon as your bank says the funds have transferred you will send your check. See what he says.

Neither did I. I expect the check would bounce if I tried to cash it.

Has anyone tried to deposit the check to see what happens? After speaking to the man at the number listed ...was told to deposit check  for paying taxes on winnings that was sent to me by 12:00 the next day and to call him back then. Sounds a little bit shady to me. He said rest of sweepstakes winnings would be sent by courier later in the week. This really sounds like a scam. I didn't even enter a sweepstakes.

I just received the same. I, too, think it's a scam. But what proof do you have?

Its a scam

Any idea if this is a legit number?    Sent letter and check to someone saying they won a sweepstake and provided a check for cashing purposes.  They direct people to this area code 321 which is in FL
