You are correct. Saw a news program on "pressing 2" to be removed. It only removes your number from the one that just called but in term gives them the okay to sell your number to these other scammers. You are NEVER truely removed from the list. Signing up on the do not call list is a waste of time. I just set my call block to not ring outside of my contacts.

This is a real company offering you a real service. There's something to win and a list to be taken off of. There's a reason to talk to them. Try to gain more information so you can "report" them or something like that.

It's not a scam and thus the Do Not Call list applies. Don't ignore what they're saying about a prize or offer or anything like that. Treat this like a person on the street came up to you and said "Can I give you my credit card number". Have fun, kids.

I got a call from this same number. Must be new owner. He was very nice. Let me know I had won a trip to Disneyworld for a 7-night, all-expenses-paid vacation. I only had to give drivers license and credit card info to prove I was the right person. Oh, and social security info for tax purposes. I also gave them my bank account numbers so they could call my bank to verify, too. He was very nice the whole time. Said I will receive the tickets in 7-10 business days, good for any dates I want to go there. I just have to call this same number 1 week ahead of time to reserve. I'm so excited I can't wait. We're not ready to go yet, but I called to ask if it included drinks, too. They must have been really, really busy because there was a recording about being out of service or something. They must give away an awful lot of tickets. I hope you all get as lucky as me and get everything that's coming to you, as I know I will. Good luck!

A note to all those here who appear to be outraged and are demanding that they be "removed from the call list":

The calls are coming from criminals.  They deal in fraud, identity theft, credit card scams, confidence scams, etc.  As others have pointed out, they will not kindly remove your phone number from the list.  They are criminals. They don't give a d*mn about what you want or who you are except in the context of being a willing victim.  The Caller ID is bogus (i.e. faked).

Imagine them to be criminals and treat them as such.  It will all make more sense that way.

Called my cell.  Two rings and then stopped w/o leaving a voicemail.

Months ago I made a special Blocked Calls "person" in my phone address book that has a silent ring and is configured to send all calls directly to voicemail.  I add junk numbers and scammers to this contact, and if a call comes from any of the numbers I never know about it (they never leave messages...).  At the moment I must have 25 numbers assigned to the "Blocked Calls" contact.

This is another "spoofed" number, not the real number they are calling from.  You can try and get the company name, but it won't be real, so you can't report them. You can report the phone # to DNC, but it's not real.  A computer dials numbers in sequence.  It doesn't care the least about the DNC list.   It's all a giant scam to get you to give them personal info like your credit card #, so they can rob your account.  Anyone that thinks that pressing "2" will have them removed from the calling list is living in a dream world.   The phone companies could stop this, but they don't seem to really care.

It was a recorded message about claiming some getaway for sun and fun.  Asked me to press 1 to be transferred to a rep to claim my prize or press 2 to be removed from the list. I pressed 2 and a recording confirmed I was removed from the list.

Just got a call...recorded message as I answered said I won a Disney Vacation and rattled off some claim #, said press 1 to claim or 2 to be removed...I hit 1 to find out exactly what the name of the company was (so I can report them as I am on the DNC list) when I asked the agent the company name she hung up on me, tried calling back and get a "this # is not in service" message...WTF?!?! what is the point of the Do Not Call list if no one abides by it !!!
