Got a call from 321-653-0159 today 3/8/13 at 6:52 PM. Caller ID says Cell Phone FL. Before I could check my caller ID, my son picked up and said hello 3 times. Nobody was on the other end. I told him to just hang up. If I wasn't having dinner, I would have let my fax machine pick up.

Yep.  Never answer, let it go to recording if it is a legitimate caller.  NEVER press any buttons.  The call could be those from India that charge your phone for long distance.   The Do Not Call registry does not work nor does blocking numbers.  Sorry, they found an interested person to scam

Call Centers do not receive incoming calls.  You can't call them back.  All you did was to verify that your number is a valid working number and you will be called again.  Don't  answer

You just wasted a lot of your time.  The DNC list does not work and the scammers have thousands of phone numbers on their computer. Blocking does not work. Just don't answer any calls from someone or city (How does a city call you)  that you don't personally know. Call centers bolck incoming calls.

the DNC list does not work and never did. It is for gullible people.  Think about it: How in the workd do businesses, organizations, salesmen etc, know that YOU are on the DNC list???????? Never answer a call from a caller you do not know personally.   Once you answer, the computer verifies that you number is a working number and you are on their sucker list.

THE DO NOT CALL LIST DOES NOT WORK.    It is another governmental fraud making the people think the government is doing something.  Just think about it---How in the world would all of the businesses, organizations in the United States going to know that you are on the DNC list?????????????????Answer ONLY calls from callers you know personally.  If the Caller I.D. says Cocoa, Fl think about it.  How does Cocoa, Fl call people. They only answer calls that people pick us the phone and either press a bunch of numbers or stay on the line for several seconds.  The robo-caller calls continuosly.  . These scammers just sit in their easy chair waiting for a voice.

your can not call these numbers back. It is a call center for outgoing numbers only. You have verified yoour phone number and the computer will list you as interested and you will receive many more calls. Never press any buttons, never answer calls that you don't know the caller personally.  Never answer a call from a CITY????  Let calls go to an answering machine-if no message is left it is usually a scam.

Haven't you learned that the DNC list is a fraud and does not work.  Think about it---how in the world do businesses know you are on the DNC list?  These scammers have been fined millions and they just change their name and use some of the thousands of phone numbers in their computers.  Disney has nothing to do with these calls. Just don't answer a call if you personally don't know the caller and NEVER press any numbers on your phone.  You just verified that your phone number is a working phone number and that the answering party expressed an interest.  Get ready for more calls.

Maybe people will learn by now----THE DO NOT CALL LIST IS A GOVERNMENTAL FRAUD.   IT DOES NOT WORK.   Plus there are so many exemptions-credit card companies, banks, non-profit, scammers, etc
JUST  NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE IF YOU DON'T PERSONALLY KNOW THE CALLER.  Answering the phone just verifies that you have a working phone number so the computer can call you more time.  If you answer and are so stupid to talk to a scammer or press some buttons on the phone as the computer tells you, rest assured that you will be put on the "INTERESTED" list and will get many more calls.  BTW these scammers a;llso use, American Heart Assn (AHA), ADA-American Diabeties Assn., MArsc of zDimes, etc.  If you want to give to a charity, you call them yourself or go to their office.

Dumb  NEVER push any buttons.  I bet those scammers LAUGHED for hours at you.  You are now on the preferred list to call many more times.  If you  don't know the caller---don;t answer the phone.  You just verified that your number is a working phone number for their computer,  Caller I.D. identified the name of the caller and the phone number with area code from where the csll is SUPPOSED to be coming from.  The name of the caller WILL NOT BE THE NAME OF A CITY, STATE, ETC.  I didn't know that Atlanta, Ga could call you.  Call blocking does not work as these scammers have thousands of phone numbers in their computers and the DO NOT CALL LIST is a fraud and does not work.  Think about as you yell at a computer on the phone.  How does a business know that you are are on the DNC list  BTW I heard you yell all the way to Missouri.

SCAMMERS, SCAMMERS, SCAMMERS.     Rec'd repeated calls from (321) 653-0159.  These as*holes don't have the gonads, much less common courtesy, to ever leave a message.  I've been told they are scammers waiting for you to pick up the phone or call them back so they can verify they called a valid phone number and when is a confirmed time to get and answer or call-back.   DO NOT GIVE THEM THIS INFO as they will surely sell it to other SCAMMERS out there just waiting to prey upon you & get your personal info.

The following recorded message was left. It apparently started durning the outgoing message, as the first few seconds seem to be missing:
"?Your claim number is 158. Press 1 now, to connect to one of our live agents. Press 2 to be removed from this list."

I'm betting everyone's "claim number" is exactly the same.

Caller ID: COCOA FL

Something to keep in mind about all these continuing bothersome calls for surveys, so called charities and so called charity pickups despite asking them to remove you from their list:

Call centers have sprung up in my town that make use of the survey and the charity loophole around the do not call list; they have been a headache for law enforcement, emergency services, neighboring businesses and residential areas.  When I ask any patrolling officer in town about these call centers, they are quick to state their frustrations about the criminal activity that some of these call centers have brought into the area. Several law enforcement agencies regularly visit some of these call centers looking for warrant arrests etc.  I have heard from sources including from frustrated employees that work for these call centers complaining about the drug activity, vandalism of cars and neighboring businesses, break-ins and theft, drinking while on the job, smoke breaks are actually marijuana breaks, drunk driving, very dangerous driving, tons of tossed out litter of empty liquor containers, trash, food etc.  I?ve even heard that the mangers are also involved in criminal activities and have even preyed on their legitimate employees who are simply trying to eek out a living on horrible wages.  Also the operators are untrained in a very high turn around, poorly managed and dysfunctional work environment.

Also realize this when you call a companies? customer service line and get horrible service from the call center that?s been hired by the company.  One time while on a call with our bank?s customer service, the operator was so loopy that it required ending the call and calling again to try and get someone else to help, think about that when you call a companies? customer service and the conversation gets odd, off the wall and obtuse ? you may be talking to an operator that?s drunk or on something.  After 6 months of getting a different and wrong answer to our ongoing problem each time we called our bank?s call center, we gave up and closed the account.

With so little police left in our town due to cutbacks, they can?t always respond to vandalism and break-ins when it?s witnessed as they have their plate full responding to the major emergencies, this allows the criminal activity free reign, the neighborhood becomes the hood.  Some insurance companies require proof of private security patrols before they will honor a claim due to vandalism or theft leaving the neighboring businesses off guard and uncovered.  These businesses also have the added cost to hire private security, install security systems/monitoring, upgrade lighting etc.  Then there are the dangers and headaches to the nearby businesses employees such as their cars being vandalized or broken into.  Some businesses simply give in, pickup and move out of town.

One of my neighbors owns a call center and he requires that his operators are bonded, but I guess there?s no laws requiring this ? there should be.  Right now in my town it seems like anybody can start up a call center and hire questionable labor for cheap without much regulation.

I my efforts the past several years to try and get something done, I am most struck by the fact that there?s no real help, everyone is more worried about being sued than dealing with the obvious problem - you are on your own while the town is taken over by the crime these call centers bring into the neighborhoods....

The call came up on my caller ID as a private number so I answered it.  I waited on the line and was asked by a young man for my claim number. I asked him for his claim number and he hung up.  I called the number back and ended up speaking to an older gentleman from a town not far from mine who was very apologetic and upset. He said he has been getting calls like mine for a while and has reported it to the FCC, police, and phone company - Optimum.  Optimum told him that his number had been "spoofed",someone gets paid to steal other's numbers, but there is no way to trace them. This guy was truly upset. There has to be something that can be done besides him having to change his home phone number.

Just got this call even though I'm on the national do not call registry. After the recorded spiel, it said if I wanted to be removed from the list to press 1. I did that, which probably just let them know someone was at this number. Hopefully I haven't just opened the flood gates.

I too have answered a cell phone call that turns out to what I believe is a robocall.  As with most, I am on the National Do Not Call Registry.  You may find an interest in the following which was copied and modified from ?Why? and Why Not? posts I read on 28 Feb 2013:
What To Do When You Get an Illegal Robocall;
1.    Hang Up. Do not press 1 or any other numbers to get off the list and NEVER call them back
2.    Consider blocking the number or on a cell phone add it to a contact list and assign NO ring tone
3.    Report it at http://www.fcc.gov/complaints
4.    Report it at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov
5.    People should continually file complaints with their Attorney General?s office
6.    Report any criminal activity to the FBI here:    https://tips.fbi.gov
7.    Register your phone numbers online at http://www.donotcall.gov or call (888) 382-1222 (must call from # you want added to the registry).
Illegal robocalls will continue since they are making money with what is called a CNAM revenue-sharing program through companies like http://www.telephonemanagement.net and http://www.CallerID4U.com

The criminals keep calling even though they know you won't fall for their scam. They are making money even if you don't answer the phone. If someone does make the mistake of answering the phone and falling for their scam then it is just icing on the cake for them.

There is an excellent blog site that explains how one company is getting away with this activity.
Please read the blog and report violations to the proper authorities.  See:
http://telemarketerspam.wordpress.com/2013/02/07/callerid4u-inc-moves-to-silence-critics-of-illicit-robocalls

The criminals behind illegal robocall operations aren't going to pay attention to you asking to be removed from their list. Their calls cost them almost nothing and they make millions of them so they have no intention of ever removing someone. When you press a key to talk to them all that is accomplished is to verify that they now have a working number and your number goes on a ?hot? list.

Unfortunately blowing an air horn or whistle doesn't work either. Their headsets have noise dampeners plus they are expecting it. However, with that said, if it makes you feel better then by all means give it a shot.

There was a FTC summit held Oct 2012.  For information on the proceedings see:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/robocalls

Regards.
