hello I also got scammed for 500 im trying to take them to court also I was just wondering if you have had anyluck or information you can share with me thank you..

I decided to do research about this company after I went on a photo shoot, they called me back about my pictures, and then started asking for all this other money for prints and cards that just didn't make any since. What was the first payment for? I rather not get crazy because it's my responsibility to be aware of scams like this! I didn't have a number I only had email address, and when ever they called it would be unknown number so that's when my red flags went up. But yeah a few hundred dollars to late.

Who ever you are i found out exatly that what you are saying is the TRUTH luckily i put a stop to my payment as soon as they started asking for more money when the zed comp cards were needed

I use to work for "Tristar Entertainment Network" as an appointment setter, back in 2008, for a few months everything was normal, after a few months things were starting to change the owner changed the name to "Universal Model and Actors" many calls started to come in complaining about their money pictures, etc... after a few months company's name changed again to "UMA Talent", same problem complains about money head shots, pictures or whatnot...I left right after (2009), I wasn't comfortable working in a negative atmosphere....Up to today I see they are still going by the name of "Cornerstone", not sure if by the same owner or by a new one, In my point of view it's a new owner. I called the "office number" 323-315-9484 and yeep same people working there "Veronica" know her very well, she wears a turban on her head, Caucasian, heavy body. In conclusion, I don't want people to waist their time and money with this "company" just try to avoid it and in a nice way say no thank you.

Right now I have a WAY better job! I'm very happy there :), offers benefits, full time employee, not like before, I would win by commissions and deductions =/. NOT COOL!

What are their last names, does anyone know? When I find out I'm taking them to court!!

We have been [. . .]ed and we are trying to get our money back. Our son is [. . .] years old [very young] and we were approached by the "talent" scout at a playground.

We paid Cornerstone for a photo shoot just to find out that they wanted $680 more to make photo cards.

We don't have a contract or agreement. In fact most of the agreement was done over the phone. The only time I was actually in the office is to show my son to the "talent director," Dee (she doesn't have his last name on her business card).

Dee sent us to some photographer called Ming in downtown Los Angeles. There was also a "hair/makeup artist," but she couldn't do much for a [. . .]-year-old. The pictures he took were less than Sears quality. The lighting was very bad.

Dee took our credit card information over the phone right before the photo shoot. He made us believe before the photo shoot that $450 was our only expense and it will pay for itself once we get our first job.

A week later Dee called and told us that the pictures turned out great, but she needed $680 more to make the comp cards. That's when we knew we were taken.

I did a little research after that and I found out that toddlers up to 3 don't even have to have professional photos done because their look changes every 3 months.

They have an open house every Saturday to sucker more naive parents and I feel like I have to do something about it. It's not just the money! I thought that maybe you have something on them.

You need to worry if you should be asked to put up money up front - legit companies won't do that but will front the costs to take a chance on your child if they think your child has what it takes to succeed in modeling. The scam is, of course, requiring you to buy more and more services because they keep saying your child has the look. Good luck folks.

If the people at corner studios took the time to reply to all the postings here it's because they have something to hide. Trying to cover it up with an the story of an "ex employee" who was mad. Not fooling me. I might buy that it was an ex employee who got fired and is now posting the TRUTH! When I went in there were nothing that made it seem legit. Dee actually seemed a little upset when my dad asked her for the "agents" name. She told us we could google him and she didn't tell us her FULL name either. Supposedly a former model? Don't you think that she would have enough money to do something else with her life? Even so, if she actually was a "kind person" to actually want to help others she wouldn't mind giving you a CARD with her FULL NAME. Agents, scouts, managers love the attention they get and love to show off their past and their projects because it gives them credibility. I'm sure that there must of been a drop in people they were fooling and somehow got ahold of this website and decided to redeem themselves. This really is b***s***. What happened as soon as I didn't return their call with a payment for my pictures? Call after call after call. As an actor you should know people don't go around "casting" others. It's something you have to fight for and it isn't gonna be handed to you that easily and if it is. It's a scam. I learned it the hard way before. $8,000 for acting classes when i was younger. So as far as MY experience goes I wouldn't trust Dee or Veronica. Neither of them gave me a full name and it seems like everyone gets the same generic commercial audition about the vitamin water. I heard a little 7 year old girl rehearsing it before i had my 4th appointment. I'm 17. So make your choices wisely people!

What is the matter with you people? Do you really think that you, or your child, are so special that you don?t have to do the things that everyone else has done before you?
Show business is a BUSINESS! And it is all about SHOW! If you were fortunate enough to be approached by a Scout you should consider yourself lucky. Granted, they are the bottom feeders of the industry, but they do serve a purpose. They are the first step up a long ladder to success. They will refer you to an agency like Cornerstone. If Cornerstone likes what they see and hear they MAY agree to refer you to a Management Group. There is no guarantee of that and they are not even going to consider you if you walk in with a bunch of snapshots that your brother took with his disposable camera. The people at the management group ? probably the receptionist ? are going to take one look at your pictures and throw them in the trash can where they belong. This is not amateur hour folks! This is the real thing! I know the people at Cornerstone and if they have a fault it is that they are too soft. They actually take an interest in the people they interview. They shouldn?t. They should run you through their office like cattle through a chute until they find the one person who stands out from the rest. It would make my job easier. Did you know that right on the other side of the office wall at Cornerstone they were filming Heroes, or more recently Jimmy Smits new show? You were that close to the real thing! And you blew it! Instead, you came here and read a lot of crap posted by an ex-employee who was fired because he was lazy and incompetent and who gets his revenge by making anonymous posts on sites like these. If you believe that garbage it serves you right! Maybe you are better suited for a job in another industry. Yes, you can supersize that Coke for me and yes, I would like fries with my Big Mac.

With your attitude I can see why the people at Cornerstone would not want anything to do with you, or your kids. If you had been in my office, acting like you are acting here, I would have called Security and had you thrown out. You are not looking for justice. You are out for blood.

Of course Cornerstone did not guarantee you any work. Nobody can do that. This isn?t Disneyworld where you buy a ticket and are promised a ride; this is a business!
IF you have the right look,
IF you show up at the right place at the right time,
IF you have a decent comp card that shows you at your best,
You MAY eventually find work!

If you think that name calling and personal attacks will get you anywhere in this industry, I suggest that you forget it and enroll your children in soccer. At least there they may get an opportunity to play, IF YOU LEARN TO KEEP YOUR BIG MOUTH SHUT!

While your kids are playing soccer you might get some counseling. Talk to a therapist about your people skills and about anger management. Oh no! That won?t work for you; you are looking for a guarantee and a psychiatrist won?t give you one. Then you would be back here posting rabid slander about the doctor in ALL CAPS.

You are one sick puppy. If you want to be taken seriously quit using all caps in your posts. Whether you know it, or not, that is the Internet equivalent of shouting - and nobody wants to be yelled at, especially by someone who hides behind anonymity. If you are a former employee I can see why you got fired. If you are an unhappy client I suggest you look for work in another business. Your attitude will prevent you from ever getting anywhere in the entertainment industry.

Let me make a suggestion. Memorize these lines and you may qualify for a job in a new field:
"Do you want fries with that?"
"Can I super-size that Coke for you?"

I doubt you will ever read this since your initial post was made months ago, but I will respond anyway. You are right to be concerned ? especially when your children are involved.

You were approached by a ?scout?.  First you must understand that these scouts are the bottom feeders of the talent industry. They get a few bucks for referring likely talent to someone in the business. They have no real interest in you or your child, only in their commissions. They have been around forever. Unfortunately, they are a necessary cog in the entertainment industry machine.

Look at acting/modeling as a food chain. Talent scouts are at the bottom of the food chain. They refer you to someone higher up the chain, usually someone who gets you prepared to seek management. Businesses like Cornerstone are at this level. They will evaluate your talent and your level of interest. If you appear to have enough potential and a high enough level of interest they will recommend that you prepare yourself for the next level by getting a professionally produced comp card (zed card). Legitimate businesses like Cornerstone usually give you the option of using one of their photographers, or getting your own. This is where fear and confusion usually sets in.

The type of photographs you need is determined by your interests. Good photographers will use different techniques based on your specific needs. What works for actors seeking work in the film industry will not work for a model looking for commercial work. This can be broken down even further. Here are a few of the sub-categories:
Commercial shoots
High Fashion
Stage actors
Film actors
There are many more categories than I will name here, but you get the idea.

Once you have a decent comp card you may be able to get a management agreement. That is the next step up the food chain. Your manager may ask you to get them more and different photographs. This is frustrating and expensive, but it is an integral part of the industry.

With luck and perseverance, you may eventually catch the interest of an agent and eventually find work.

Make no mistake; the days when you could be discovered at Schwab?s drugstore at Hollywood and Vine are long gone. Schwab?s went out of business in 1983. To get a foothold in the entertainment industry you have to be prepared to start at the bottom and work your way up the food chain ? just as you would in any other business.

The bigger the scam, the more fake positive and defensive posts you will see. The scammers look pretty desperate on this one. The real warnings must be hurting them badly. If they were legit, they would name real people and real roles they helped them get. Actors are happy to shout their names and credits from the rooftops, yet there are no verifiable "happy customers" here, just vague, fake testimonials.

Don?t be scammed by negative posts.
Paranoia isn?t a bad thing if they are really out to get you, but some of the posts on this site are WAY over the top.

Here are a few things to consider when looking for advice on a site like this one:
?    Posting a comment in all caps is the Internet equivalent of shouting. Most moderated forums will delete these posts.
?    Many of the negative comments you read on sites like this one are posted by disgruntled ex-employees, or by a competitor. Before you blindly accept these comments, ask the person why he/she was fired.
?    Trust your own instincts. If your doctor told you that you needed surgery, would you get a second opinion from some anonymous person you met on the street?  Ask the vendor to provide you with names of satisfied customers. That will give you real proof from real people.

Like many people i panicked when I read some of the negative  blogs placed regarding cornerstone. I should have thought first (And considered my own experience) before I placed my own blog. I expressed to Dee at Cornerstone my sincere appoligy yesterday. Dee is a very sincere,trustworthy and warm hearted person. Any horrible things said about her or her assistants ARE NOT!! true. I have been dealing with Dee for some months now she is totally up front and honest. I'm here to tell you; you and your child would only be so fortuante to work with Dee and her staff. I do have to say don't always believe junk that you read off of these blogs. Dee has been absolutely GREAT!!!! with my daughter and myself I HIGHLY recommend her services to ALL!!!! I would tell anyone this. I feel terribly horrible that I was one of those people who did place a blog and in turned made Dee and her assistants feel any kind of sadness or betrail. That is not right and that is not the kind of person that I am or want to be. So again "I AM TOTALLY SORRY TO DEE AND HER ASSISTANTS FOR MY PAST BLOG" I do wish her well in all that the does. I look forward to continuing working with her. See you ladies at my daughters photo shoot :-)

Once again posting as many people. You are very easy to spot. You are a disgruntled ex EMPLOYEE that lost your job and thinks that Dee is responsible for your loosing your job. She is not. It had nothing to do with her. I am surprised that you can't be more mature about the situation. This happened many months ago, get on with your life (i mean that in a respectful way) focus on yourself instead of focusing on sabotaging a nice persons business. Dee had always been very nice to you. I wish you would remember the good times that you had and not the negative things that happened.

And you keep posting as different people and repeating your self. You said god does not like ugly but you are being very ugly.
