His text said:

Am interested in your item as a birthday gift for my son who is currently studying in New Jersey. I would have love to come and check it but im currently out of town due to the nature of my job as a contractor, just want to be sure its In good condition and suitable for his birthday gift. I want you to help me to ship it to him over there, i will pay you the sum you wish to sell it including the shipping fee to him and i will be paying you cash via PayPal. Kindly get back to me ASAP if you are okay with my offer

I continued with him and eventually i got the info i needed to find this web page

he said:  Sounds good, so I will need you to send me an invoice from your paypal account to reverendjonesmark@gmail.com for the payment to be send. Thanks!

I wonder what his motives are?

His new number is 1-323-425-9854 he just tryed to scam me! I think not scumbag get a life!

This number keeps calling.

Someone from this same number, 323-425-9528, just tried to pull the same scam on me for something I have for sale on ksl classifieds.  Here's a copy of his text:

"im interested in your item as a birthday gift for my Daughter who is currently studying in Texas. I would have love to come and check it but im currently out of town due to the nature of my job as a contractor, just want to be sure its In good condition and suitable for her birthday gift. I want you to help me to ship it to her over there, i will pay you the sum you wish to sell it including the shipping fee to her and i will be paying you via PayPal. Kindly get back to me ASAP if you are okay with my offer.

This man attempts various fraud schemes. He identifies himself as Reverend Mark Jones,  Roger Jones and, possibly James ??? He uses the email of reverendjonesmark@gmail.com. Claims he is a contractor and a minister who travels a lot, claims he wants to buy things for a gift for his son, & offers to pay via PayPal, likes to scam people off classified ad listings. WIll give out this ph number DO NOT FALL for his ploys. He is a BAD MAN. He gave me an address for a firefighter/EMS training center in Sulphur Springs, Tx and said to send item to his son's girlfriend who will present it to him for his birthday. She is a real firefighter, is 20 years older than his supposed son, and is married to another firefighter. The only thing I can think of that would have gotten him the item, would be to hijack her mail by doing a change of address and divert the woman's mail. He first identified her as Andrea, then in later texts, called her Audrey. I warned him of a law enforcement background and familial connection to the FBI and police, but he kept trying to complete the transaction thru Paypal anyway.

I think this person is up to rental scam now.  He is offering for rent a property but can't show the place because as a civil engineer he has been transferred to the Philippines for the next few years. He is going by the name Reverend Mark.

So, what do you think people?  Does this fit the classic rental scam detail?  
I texted him back and asked how is his  fiance in Georgia and son or daughter in Michigan are doing.
So far, he has not replied.

He contacted me through my ksl.com add as well. Said he wanted to gift my item to his church in NJ.... would pay me through paypal.... sigh.... It just felt "fishy" from the get-go!

I have been contacted by this same person, only he said it was for his son in michigan, but later refered to his son as a "her". Sounded weird from the very first text message. Did he scam you in any way? or still any info?
