The message I got seemed too generic, so I smelled a scam:

I'm interested in buying the posted item & your price...
Get back to me with your email @ deankubasek@gmail.com

Just keep logging in to his g-mail account with the wrong password until it locks to screw this A-hole up.

I received the check from this guy and I have his email information and the phone number. I am taking it to the Attorney General here in the state of Iowa to see if he can try and do something about this guy.

He is using the same number but says his name is Diego Emilio. Said he was moving and wanted to purchase the cricket cutter and cartridges i had for sale. He said the he himself or his movers would come by to pick it up. He would send a cerified  bank check and I was to call him once i received the check and once it was cashed. He would then pick up the item. Listing back on ebay this is to crazy.

this a hole responded to my craigslist ad with both names, dean kubasek and robert waddick. "robert" said he was hard of hearing and a god fearing man  and he's trusting I wont rip him off. both replies stated he would be sending his mover to pick up item. went on facebook and searched dean kubasek which led me to this site.

Someone named Grabriella Walker answered a CraigsList ad i had with the exact same reply as above and I answered a little too quickly with my home phone number. Then I searched the # she gave me in her initial email and it came up scammers. She replied and wanted my home addres to send me a check and would pick up the "item"later. Yeah right!! The email seemed automated. Not human. Very vague. I replied and informed her that I had notified FBI and NC Atty. Gen. plus CraigsList.

This call came an hour later and just hung up.

http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-415-901-8108

I blocked future calls from both numbers.

The reason I think it's related is that my phone only rings when it's my family...about once or twice a week, if I'm lucky. So any call outside of them is VERY rare. Usually the Dr. or dentist offices once a year.

I get so many inquiries from this jerk it's amazing!!!!!  All of my CL posts contain the following info which has been very helpful:

"Seller will only respond to reply posts that provide their contact # and state in reply to post if they are AZ local.  Too many scammers out there."

So far so good.  If they don't have this info in their reply to post, I don't respond obviously so it has narrowed down who is seriously interested and who is not.

I wish this guy would go away or get arrested!!!  yeah, that's good, take him away boys!!!

I got the same message a few minutes ago - also regarding an armoire I'm trying to sell.  Glad I looked his name up first although my ad specifically says to send a contact number (and I won't give out personal e-mail).  Gosh!  What do these people do other than sit around trying to scam people all day?!?

Message says:
Hello,

Hello,I will like to know if this item still up for sale and what is the condition?email me back with your personal email address and phone number.

Thanks

Same thing for me... Craig's List reply to a post came from David Ray wanting oersonal e-mail address and phone number. I did not reply - seems like a scam, as all these others posts would also attest to.

Don't respond to anything that would jeopardize your Craig's List account being banned. This is a typical scam. I know, when someone says they will send you a check, it's usually stolen. Be weary of these and other formats. I'm getting 4-5 responses on my ad per day, asking for phone numbers and it saying:

"I'm mesmerized about you and your ad. I'd like to speak more and was wondering if you could call/text me with your address? Please get my cell phone # on my confidential page, you have to signup first but no stress there's no charge. This way I am preserving my personal information, I have cash right next to me. I just need to ask you something over the phone and validate this is not a scam. Thank you!

DON'T REPLY TO SOMETHING LIKE THIS. It's definitely a scammer trying to get personal information for theft.

Here's a few more like the one above:

"I was instead wondering if you would like to become friends. I just transferred to a new job here and feeling lonesome, would love to hook up for some fun time. I am avilable anytime after 12 pm. I'm not a weirdo or a scammer so do not worry! If you are interested you can see more of me on my profile where I have all of my rated r pix and most importantly my cell # is there too. Just log in and text me 'cause I love texting! Let's do this asap, I will be waiting!

-Sent via my iPhone "

"Read this if you are real and move through my direction. My photos and cell phone # are published on my personal profile so if you seriously like what you see then go grab my # and text/call me right now. This is the ONLY way to prevent pyschos and to make certain you're a non dangerous man specfically since I want to host at my place. I am not a phony so stop doubting me. If you think I am not real then don't reply. Im a creative girl in bedroom so would like to tell you over the phone what Im interested in in you rather than wasting my time and writing here. I just hope youre real too! xoxo

and

"I'm curious about you and your ad. I want to talk more and was wanting to know if you could call/text me with your address? Please get my cell phone # on my non-public page, you have to signup first but all good there's no charge. This way I am protecting my private information, I have cash right next to me. I just need to ask you something over the phone and authenticate this is not a scam. Thank you!

Too many more like these above and I will be sending them off to Craig's List and to the FBI's Internet Crime Division. It's no wonder why I chose this career path, to track down scammers like these and knock them out.

Looks like the same dude - we are in KY, his area code wasn't anywhere near here is what got me suspicious to check it out on this forum.   It's a shame the world has become nothing but scammers.  Thanks everyone but letting us know of this scammer.

Think about this. I'm trying to prove a point to one of my lawmaker friends in Wisconsin.

Have you ever used your affected phone number to do ANY business with Craigslist?

Have you posted it on Craigslist to sell something?

Have you used the number to "verify an account" with Craigslist?

I'm almost POSITIVE that Craigslist is how these scammers are getting your numbers. Either Craigslist is selling their "account verification" phone lists to them, and/or computers are scanning ads to get your numbers off of there, unless you spell out the number (i.e.- three two four six two four five). It is common knowledge that computers DO INDEED scan the Craigslist ads for the numbers- unless it's spelled out.

I can't prove it yet, but I'm almost there!
