This guy texted me today, same email and name.  Using number 323-642-7894

I got a text less then 24 hours after I put my add up on autotrader. Asked for me to send engine pics, from "John"

Just got the very same message on my car sale through Autotrader.

Got a text from the same number less than 24 hours after putting an ad on Autotrader. Said was interested in my car and could I send more pictures and video of engine.

Same thing today for my Auto Trader add.... Engine pic's and video... From John   3235960871

This turd contacted me also- same circumstances; He's an oceanographer buying the car for his dad. Said that he posted the money to my PayPal account but it was put on hold, but could I send the moving fee to some guy in Illinois. Here is a copy of his email:

Am sorry for getting back to you lately,i  had a little issue with the mover, they said they can only schedule the pick up date and time after they receive their money for the pick up,shipping and delivery fee via Western Union money transfer in there head office in IL, So i included $1,830 and $170 to the payment i sent to your paypal account, PayPal most have instructed you on how to get the money sent to my mover.They most have email you about this.


Payment has been made and the money has been deducted from my account but a temporary hold has been placed on it by paypal prior verification.You are to follow PayPal verification procedure by sending the shipping fee to the mover name and address below and send the money sent details to PayPal email customer care for your total funds to be credited. Let me know as soon as you complete the verification procedure with PayPal and when the total fund has been released to your account so we can fix date and time for pick up.

Appreciate the information posted here. Received this message on Friday and was about to send them pics of my truck on Autotrader.  Now I don't have to go through the hassle.

I have a car posted on autotrader.com and this number contacted me with an email address of bmails000@gmail.com and by the name of John.  Beware!

Just got a text from this phone number regarding a car I have for sale on AutoTrader.  It reads verbatim, "Am intested in your vehicle on AUTOTRADER, if still available reply to my email bmails000@gmail.com with the engine pics or video. John"  I found it odd that someone would send a text rather than call, so I looked up the number on this site.  As I suspected...a scammer!

I also got a text in response to autotrader ad. He/she sent an email address which looks phony asking for more details. Name mentioned is "John".

Received very long msg  when I advertised my car on Autotrader. Caller Wanted us to use Paypal and have someone else pick up car.

He sent me the same oceanographer message saying he wanted our car for his dad. We have it listed on autotrader. why do these idiots think we will really fall for these scams!!

He sent me an email and told me he wanted my car as a present for his father, but that he could not see it in person because he was an oceanographer away on a contract with no reception (despite the fact that he texted me from this number...). He wanted to use the same paypal scam. Glad I came across this. I will be reporting him to Autotrader.

I was just contacted by this number in regards to a truck I'm selling online.  I knew it was a scam right off the bat by the way they were speaking in incomplete sentences.  The number shows up as a VoIP phone from Los Angeles, CA.  I'm glad that I was right and checked the web and found this site.  Thanks!

Yes, like all of you they tried the same scam on us for a Nutone unit. Kept telling us they had notification from paypal that funds were PENDING and to stop wasting their time. Well,I did and reported them to Craigs list, PayPal and the FBI scam and mail fraud unit. Funny, once i told them that i was reporting them - all correspondence ended. Wonder why? They said they were also going to send an extra $750 for the shipping and i was to pay their shipping company which they had decided upon. This was a dead give away since a) they had no way of knowing the exact location from which the produce was to be shipped and b) had no idea of the weight upon which all shipping is based. They are quite stupid. Loved playing with them though - had them going for a while but while doing so got a lot of information from them including 2 names and location. The number by the way is a "leave a message" using an English woman's voice and according to them shipping was to be going to New Mexico.

yes - report them to paypal, Craigs list and the fbi scam unit. It's a federal issue as they are trying to defraud over mail type vehicles. Did just this today. The more reports they get the better chance of FBI starting an investigation.

Received texts about car I had for sale on crags list..

I recieved text from this number for a item I had on craigslist.  Said they were from  Pennsylvania and was in the military and wanted to purchase for her son in CA.  I suspected scam so I found this website which confirms my gut feeling.  Watch out for this person(s)!!!!!!

Full blown scam, text said they saw my boat online (website i've never even heard of) and want to come pick it up today for 10k more than im asking. Yeah nice try i dont think so, stupid clowns stop trying to steal things that other people worked hard for.
