Again, thanks for doing the research on the origin of this call. I also am a staunch supporter of PCRM, and they are indeed a reputable organization that works feverishly to educate the public on optimal nutrition by supporting and presenting research on the benefits of a low fat plant-based diet on preventing chronic health conditions such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. Food can be as effective as medicine, and they prove it with their work. Their animal welfare campaign has resulted in the discontinued use of animals in all medical schools in the U. S. Consider attending their annual international conference in Washington DC in August. Over 750 health professionals attended last summer.

PCRM isn't linked to PETA but they do advocate for animal rights and a healthy diet.

Is the room in the basement? You know, the one where they wash the brains?

Your post is inaccurate. PCRM is reputable, and above board. They have never been against pet ownership and are not extremists of any sort. Any reasonable fact checking will support the fact they they promote good science, good health, proper nutrition, and ethical medicine. To boot, they are a four star rated charity. Your claims are unfounded. Evidently you are rooted in your unethical stance, perpetuating outright lies about affiliations and your bogus "agenda".

PCRM is a nutball affiliate of PETA. They are not interested in facts or the importance of any medical endeavors whatsoever. I was a member, because my work in medicine involves animals and we are responsible with their use and always open to alternative opinions, but I found out immediately after joining that PCRM is only about agenda. They are not only against any and all use of animals to include pet ownership, but they are vegan extremists. If you are rational at all in your thought patterns and a health care provider, don't join these folks or make any donations.

They've been calling me every day (!) and never leaving a message, I support PCRM, too, and didn't know it was on their behalf--or from one of their lists (?) that I thought they didn't sell--the calls were being made. I guess I'll pick up next time and tell them to stop calling. Don't they know how much people hate those calls?

I have been receiving calls from this number - 7 in the last 6 weeks. They never leave a message. I did manage to pick up once before the call ended and heard what sounded like a recorded message on behalf of PCRM. I give to this group and think they are reputable but WILL NOT tolerate the phone calls. Very annoying and persistent.

Decided to call this number back. It really is Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (I belong to this group). Told the representative that I did not appreciate receiving so many calls with no message attached. She assured me that the calls will cease.

Hi, I've also received calls from them & thank to you all who've done the checking I can vouch for PCRM. People's Committe For Responsible Medicine is an organization/ & charity spearheaded by Dr. Neil Bernard. Quickly, they are based in CA but also have offices in DC; these are bona fide Md's who've formed an organization for better medical care w/out the use of animal research ; they are against torturing animals in labs in the name of medical "science" and as MD's they know that modern science can rely almost 100% upon computer models which much more accuraacy replicate the human body for testing. I myself am a supporter and probably got on their list from either their website, FaceBook page or by making charitible donations. But , like everyone else here, i do not don't appreciate receiving unsolicited calls followed by inevitible hang ups anymore than the rest of us. I will contact them via phone, facebook or their website and ask them to remove my number, I get enough emergency information via facebook and USPS. I do want to put in a plug for them however: They are a bona fide regulated & professional charitible organization made up of board certified American Doctors (as well as international mds) who are represented by doctors from every dicipline If you've ever signed a petition against animal testing be in on FaceBook or wherever , or have made a personal donation to this charity they must have gotten your number. If not, we're somehow on some list that was shared with them. Just let them know to stop calling you. Good luck

OOPS, That should be "you're"
| Part of the Solution 2011-10-19 17:38:54 Telemarketer |
I returned the call (with my number blocked) and found out that this is an organization that does telemarketing for various organizations. This time it was on behalf of the "Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine". My guess is that it was either a survey about a recent emergency room visit I had, or to solicit donations for the hospital. Don't know, don't care. They use multiple numbers so it could be a pain to keep up with them but my new call blocker can block any call with a push of a single button. Now their auto dialer talks to my call blocker and my phone doesn't even ring. Best $100 I ever spent.
If your not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

He mixed up the number and my caller ID originally showed 618 area code as I picked up the call although after hanging up it showed the 323 number. Anyone have a clue what this is?t3e7
