Received this same message several times now.

recieved a text from this number saying it was regarding a urgent case followed by a case number- also the text gave a 1877-224-5572. Normally I would just ignore it but it seemed like a wierd text.

Robo-dialing, texting of cell phones and intentional harassment of non-debtors is illegal under the TCPA (Do Not Call) and FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) and carries with it some pretty stiff fines (up to $1,500 per violation):

Under the TCPA, a consumer has a right to file a lawsuit and recover $500 for each call that violates the TCPA. The TCPA can also be used in conjunction with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in some situations.  

Generally, the TCPA does not apply to debt collectors making collection calls to debtors. However, if you are subjected to calls from a debt collector and you are not the debtor, you may file a lawsuit against the debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the TCPA.

This right was recently recognized by Judge Legrome D. Davis in a case called Watson v. NCO Group, Inc.  NCO Group is a debt collector that uses automated prerecorded collection calls.  In this case, Mr. Watson alleged he was getting hundreds of calls from NCO Group after he got a new phone number. Mr. Watson claimed he owed no debt to NCO Group, Inc.  Mr. Watson filed suit under both the FDCPA and TCPA.

David Israel, defense lawyer for NCO, argued that the TCPA should not apply to debt collectors.  Judge Davis rejected the argument made by David Israel. The judge ruled that Mr. Watson had a right to sue NCO Group Inc under the TCPA for $500 for each call.  Judge Davis wrote;

[The] Court is convinced that a non-debtor's rights are in fact violated when he is subjected to repeated annoying and abusive debt collection calls that he remains powerless to stop.

Judge Davis' ruling was based upon his interpretation that collection calls to non-debtors violate the privacy rights provided by the TCPA.  

So what can you do if you receive "wrong number" calls from debt collectors?

1. Sign up for the Do-Not-Call registry.
2. Save the calls captured by your voice mail or answering machine.
3. Contact a consumer lawyer.

TCPA: What Is It & How Does It Affect You?

The Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 (TCPA) does many things - including prohibiting debt collectors from calling your cell phone without your permission. Each unauthorized call could result in the debt collector paying you up to $1,500. Here's some helpful information on the Act and how it might affect you.
What is the TCPA?

The TCPA, which was signed into law in 1991 under the first Bush Administration and codified under 47 U.S.C. 227, prohibits calls using any automatic telephone dialing system or artificial or prerecorded voices to:

?Emergency telephone lines
?Telephone lines of any guest room or patient room at a hospital, health care facility, elderly home or similar establishment
?Telephone numbers assigned to paging services, cellular telephone services, specialized mobile radio services, other radio common carrier services or any service for which the called party is charged for the call
?Any telephone call to a residential telephone line
?Send unauthorized faxes
The only way that a caller won't violate the statute is if express consent has been given - and violations of the TCPA are steep. An unintentional call carries a damage amount of $500; an intentional call carries a damage amount of $1,500. That's per call and regardless of the purpose of the call. In other words, if they call you using an automated dialing system without your consent, they've violated the Act and you are entitled to damages.

How does it affect you?

Most debt collectors use automatic telephone dialing systems to contact debtors. You'll recognize this when you go to pick up the phone and there is a slight hesitation on the other end. In fact, most debt collectors are calling nearly 100 people at a time just waiting for someone to answer. Although many have stopped calling landlines, cell phones are another story. Since more and more people are using cell phones either instead of, or in addition to, traditional landlines, debt collectors are finding their cell phone numbers using skip tracers, calling them and hoping that they don't realize that the TCPA has been violated.

I have been getting these text for burciaga alex which is not me and i have been trying to get a manager on the phone to remove my number because they have the wrong number. also they say they are NATIONAL ATTORNEY SERVICE i have been getting these calls and text every day for almost a year. the callers get smart with me and when i ask to remove my number or that they have the wrong person. I wish a***oles like this a miserable life.

They have been harrassing me for 4 months. I have reported them to BBB and the FCC and still i am receiving these harrassing calls and text messages running up my phone bill. If this continues I am planning on sueing them. We should all file a suit against the company for these harrassments. I get the same answer, that's if they even talk to you when you ask them to speak English. We had five numbers blocked so far. It doesn't help, they just keep calling seven days a week.

I have been receiving calls and txt msgs from this co for a month or more. My husband and I have repeatedly asked that they stop these calls. This number is on the do not call list and we do not have an account with them. I have had this cell number for many years. Most of the time they hang up when we ask them to speak English. I don't speak spanish. We have limited minutes and they are using them up. When they have actually talked to me I have given them the mesg info that includes names and account numbers. They say there is nothing they can do. People are giving them false information and there is nothing they can do? I have asked to speak to a manager or supervisor and they just hang up.

GETTING TXT MESSAGES AND CALLS ALSO FROM THIS # 3236521377 ALONG WITH A 8772245572 NUMBER STATING THERE A NATIONAL ATTORNEY SERVICE, CALLED THE 3236521377 NUMBER AND IT GOES STRAIGHT TO A FULL VOICEMAIL BOX...YEAH THESE FOOLS NEED TO GO DOWN.

Contact the police or file a legal action against them. You can also contact www.civiltree.com and they will file a class action suit!

I just got the same thing! I got a call from 877-287-2226 which belongs to La Curacao, which is a latin furniture store, and when I answered it is just spanish music. As soon as I hung up I received a text from 323-652-1377 and the text said in spanish, " congratulations your credit has been approved for La Curacao, come spend your credit and start accumulating points"
I called the 877 number back and it is their customer service call center and they claim not to have me on file, they searched for my number and they kept saying that I was not on file and that there is nothing they could do for me since they are not sure what is going on. They said that they don't text people and that they don't call people out of that center, they only receive calls.
I am very confused and a little concerned at the same time, the only thing I could think of is to call my cell phone carrier and have them block the number so I don't get anymore calls.

Some psycho keeps texting and calling me from a furniture store. The messages are always in Spanish.  I'm soooo sick of them calling... one more time and I'm going to file a harassment/annoying phone calls report with the police!
