Received the same call and had the same scenerio thrown at me. The company that is supposedly suing me was a cash advance company that I have never done business with. These people are very hard to understand and also become very rude.

I received a call from this number today.  I answered and was transferred to a supervisor whom I couldnt understand.  I hung up and looked somethings up online meanwhile they are steadily calling my phone repeatedly.  I answered the last call and the caller said "I know you didnt just hang up on me", I replied with I'm filing a complaint against you right now online.  The caller said goodbye and hung up on me.

This just happened to me today.... Scared the living hell out of me... Of course I wanted to get this whatever it was settled as soon as possible ...  Was told for 756..  It would go away... Asked over and over again who  I owed  and why and who I would pay to right this ... If I really owed this.???  How could I even owe this?  He called himself Michael Woot,  kept saying he did not know but someone may have stole my identity... And this would make everything right and I would be safe from any future identity theft...  Go to a cvs, Walmart, Walgreens, or some such place... Be sure to get a Green Dot money pak...   I asked why not a money order from Amscot ..  Something about rules was all he would say...  Told me I needed to send him 100 right away.. Told him not possible...   Kept asking him why and who. .. I could owe...  He just kept saying I needed to send money via green dot..  Or else the police would arrest mr @home tomorrow morning ,!!   I hung up on him after I said I guess I will see the cop tomorrow.....  He has called me at least 10 times sense than.....  I am still concerned that he can ruin my life, my credit, my reputation...  Holly Cow, I think people like this need to be  stopped because you know the prey on females . Because like me we are the most easy to upset and confuse.....

Okay, I own a credit repair company and I just want to tell all of you that you CAN NOT be arrested for outstanding debt.  You can have a judgement put against you, but not arrested.  Never pay anyone that tells you that you owe them anything without checking with the original creditor.  If they do tell you that you owe money, first ask them in a very calm manner, what company is the original debt with and what company that the caller is with.  I can guarantee you that you will not understand them, and if you do, you won't able to find the company on the web.  My husband got the call while I was at work today and I called them back after I got home.  I called twice and got a "Magic Jack" message.  That tells you right there that they are not a legitimate company.  My husband called from his cell phone and they answered. I first asked how much my husband owed and he told me that we already had that information. In the earlier conversation my husband had with them they said $230.00, I explained to him that my husband didn't write it down because he was "so distraut" that he forgot to do that. I tried to sound as desperate as I could, so he would not hang up on me. He then told me that the amount was $756.00.  I then asked the questions that I stated above and he never gave me a straight answer.  I also informed him that you can not arrest someone, in the United States, for outstanding debt and he had nothing to say.  I then asked him if it was my local Sherrif's department that was going to arrest my husband, and he said it was and that they would send the message to that Sherrif's department as soon as we made the payment and tell them to stop the arrest.  I then explained to him that in the Unites States, we don't get a courtesy call before we are arrested.  I also told him that I would call the local Sherrif's department myself, since I happen to be a very close friend to someone in the Sherrif's department here in my hometown.  I'm not, but he doesn't know that....  I am about to bust a gut because this guy is still on the phone with me!  I asked him what country he was calling from and he very arrogantly told me "the United States of America" and I started laughing and told him that I highly doubted that.  I then told him that the people that put this scam together really needed to do their research on our country and our laws.  That's when he hung up on me.  Don't ever pay anyone until you find out if they are legitimate.  Even if you know that you had an outstanding debt, make sure who you are sending your money to and tell them you need a promisary note saying that, if you choose to pay them, that all the debt will be in good standing and taken off your credit report.

Just received a call from this number, his name was James Smith (sure) he is from the Middle East or India.

Advised me I would be arrested at work within the next 2 - 3 days.  Told me I committed  fraud, had money wired into my account then with drew it when the company tried to get their money.  He was very mean, angry, and rude.  Mr. Smith told me I was not to interrupt him and wait until he was finished before I would ask questions.  His final question to me was "What do I want to do about my problem"  I calmly advised him "Well, I have just recorded this conversation and you are a fraud, he said something to me in Arabic then hung up on me.   I called back and asked which country I was calling and they hung up on me.

This number called me twice today. The first time leaving the similar message as others have been receiving. I'm 20 years old. Never taken out a loan. Know the law very well. First thing, this foreign d-bag wasn't even calling me by my correct name. Second, when I asked to speak to his supervisor he told me no, and after I said why he then said he was the supervisor. Weird, huh? Third, when I asked this "officer" what his badge number was, he told me 1234. Lastly, he told me the local sheriff would be at my address to arrest me in the morning, but considering the address he had was my deceased aunts house, that seems unlikely.

This is a "Zombie" Debit Colletctor that buys up out dated expired and uncollected debts and than calls making threats to scare you into compliance.

First off just because a debit has passed its "Zero Date"; that is the collectable date (7 years in most states 10 years in others) dont mean your free and clear.  If it is a valid debt you still owe the money but after the zero date they can not take legal action against you to collect.

To make money off the debt they sell your information; useally included on a spread sheet with hundreds of names, numbers and addresses and start calling people claiming they have a warrant; or you will be arrested; or they wil attach your pay; garnish youre wages; or take your property.  To make these; or any other threats is a violation of the Fair Debt Pratices and Collections Act and they become sueable once they violate the FDPCA.

Know that they can NOT do any of these things with out a court order and as the zero date has passed they cant take you to court....  UNLESS...

They scare you inot admitting the debt is yours; or getting you to give them so much as a penny; or agree to a payment plan.  Once you do this they can legally re-age youre account and place you in to collections plus sue you for the full amount plus interest going back to day one.  This is years of interest and can add up to thousands of dollars.

Never admit to any debt; tell them you have no knowledge of the debt; demand they send you certified copies of the original application with your actual signature upon it, also tell them to stop calling you and only communicate with you via US Mail.

This does a few things; if they call again you now have cause to sue for harrasment; they will know you know your laws and 9 out of 10 times they will go on to the next number on their list as they dont have the original documents and therefore can not provide copies upon demand as required by law.  After all the only thing htey have is a list of names and phone numbers.

Anytime they call write down the exact date, time, their number, the persons name you spoke to and exactly what was said.  Also if it is permissable in your state record the conversation; in most states only one party needs to be aware the conversation is being recorded and since you are a party to the conversation and doing the recording it is legal and admissible in court when you decide to sue them for violationg youre rights; violating the FDCPA and harrasment.  And if you do things right you WILL win in court if they are calling about a zombie debt.

I learned all this after becoming a victim of ID Theft while stationed over seas; I got back to the states after 3 years to learn someone had a field day with my information nearly the entire time I was gone.  I started getting harrased by Zombie Debt Collectors so bad I started to sue and won each and every time because I documented everything they said or did.

Beforewarned there is no Debtors Prison and you will not be jailed for oweing a debit unless its to a casino in Las Vegas Nevada or the debt is back child support.  Some of these collections hire bounty hunters; or criminals to come to youre property dressed like detectives complete with fake badges; guns and handcuffs.  Never let them into your home and call the police imeadately to report an attempted armed robbery as that is what this is.  They have tresspassed upon your property; are armed and demanding money!

Just got a voice message from some Foreigner saying that there is a warrant out for arrest. And that I need to be home tomorrow because the police are coming to arrest me. WTH? Total bs. I know for a fact that there is NO warrant out for my arrest what so ever.

I'm really annoyed by this but me and my husband just got a good laugh. SMH. Pathetic people with no lives.

Someone from that number just called my mentally ill son and told him he needed to be at an address , which happens to be my brother's house, because there is a warrant out for his arrest and they are going to arrest him there.  My son called me out of state frantic that he was getting arrested and I had him call the local Police Dept.   They transferred him to the warrants dept. and OF COURSE, they don't have a warrant out for his arrest.
These people know my son's full name and my brother's address (my son has never lived with my brother).  They need to be stopped.  People who hurt other people suck, but when you mess with a mentally ill person, there is another term for them that comes to mind.  This really pisses me off!

The government is becoming more aware of the importance of stopping these people.  See the second item in this Internet Crime Center alert:

http://www.ic3.gov/media/2013/130107.aspx

You can, and should, file a complaint against them at http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx .  This is the US government Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3).  Because many, if not most, calls -- especially from overseas -- travel over the Internet these days and because the alert mentioned above concerns telephone calls, I think it is legitimate to report attempts at extorting money from you to IC3 these days.

You should also report the incident to the Federal Trade Commission.  Here is information on how and what to report, as well as links to reporting forms for both the FTC and the various state Attorney General's offices (near the end of the FAQ):

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection

The other articles linked at the end of the FAQ may be of use to you, also.

If you happen to be on the federal Do Not Call list, you can file a complaint here:

https://complaints.donotcall.gov/Mobile/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2

Many states have separate Do Not Call lists with somewhat different restrictions on callers.  If you are not already on a state list, you should find out how to get on it in your state, who it covers and what types of calls it is directed to.  Sometimes the state lists are more strict than the federal list and more effectively enforced.

Also, if you think these people know your SSN#, you should read this information from the IRS and take some immediate action to protect yourself:

http://www.taxpayeradvocate.irs.gov/Individuals/Identity-Theft

All this assumes that you are located in the United States.  If you are elsewhere in the world, you will have to check for other resources in your country.

I hope you and others find this little summary helpful.
