Today I get a call from a Shawn Tillman informing me that there is a Felony warrent out for my arrest! He informed me that I would be receiving a letter in the mail detailing the date and time as to when I would need to go to court for an "appearance" to the judge. I have never been given a credit line for the amount that was stated or claimed. Until 1 month ago, I just opened a bank account and received my VERY first credit card!  I asked questions but they could not give me ANY answers, except that if I wanted this to go away that I should just send them money! Ok we go from me having a felony warrent out for my arrest to it will all go away for a small fee of $75!  Give me a break! This is a scam! Anyone out there that gets a call from these people, inform them that you are and will be filing a police report and forwarding this to CONSUMER AFFAIRS!  In this day, NO ONE should be subjected to this type of trickery!

These people called my Dad's phone, which I haven't used in 15 years, stating there was a civil complaint filed against me and I needed to call them back immediately with the name of my attorney. Then gave me a bogus case # to follow up on. They used my maiden name, which I haven't used in 4 years and they called my Dad's phone. I don't have any outstanding debt under my maiden name or my married name for that matter. If this was an actual "civil complaint" I would have been physically served and not called at 8:00am on a Saturday morning. I did not call these people back as I believe this is a scam. BEWARE OF THESE PEOPLE!

I should note that they called a close friend of mine the same morning around the same time and the phone # they called is her Mom's unlisted phone #. Neither one of us owes any debt and are a little ticked off that they called our parent's #.

Also had a call regarding a bad check claim from a payday loan in Oct 2007 from Cash Advance.  I asked for a debt validation which they claim had been sent to me (I've never received anything).  The guy transferred me to a supposed attorney.  I told him that this was not familier and to send some sort of documentation.  Until then I wasn't doing anything.  He got frustrated, mumbled something under his breath and said good luck and hung up.

Know your rights when it comes to these debt collectors.  They must send you a debt validation upon request showing how they calculated the debt.  They have 30 days from request to provide it to you.

To "idiots"  - the n word is totally unnecessary! I'm offended and appalled that someone in this day and age is still using deragatory language like that. You should be ashamed of yourself!

These people called me and threaten me with the same thing.  They said there's a bad check claim filed against me. He threaten me that he would turn the case over to the attorney, like in a few seconds he came back and said their attorney would only allow for me to pay them by this Friday.  Well damn a***ole, now that I know who they are, I hope they rot in hell soon.  Wasted my time talking to them and actually got frustrated.  And almost Stupid enough to pay them.  So people be aware, don't fall into their trap.  Please do file a police report right away.  These people call themself Shawn Teilman and Mr. Cooper.  Damn n****r!!!!!

They called my mom who lives 1200 miles away from me and told her that I could get arrested if I don't show up in court and they gave her a case number.   When she asked what it was for they told her that they could not disclose any info.    He told her that he was calling from New York, but her caller id showed that it was from Seattle.   The number he gave her to have me call back was an L.A. number.   She called them back and accused them of lieing and the lady hung up on her.   I then received a message at my work and I do not want them harassing me at work and the message was that I had 30 days or they'd be some kind of suit against me.   I really need to find out how I can make sure they do not call my work and harass me.   I do not want to get into trouble or be embarassed at work.

Thank you.

I also received a call from Kenneth Sledge. I was surprised by his very professional demeanor compared to the call I received from Miles Gaines. How on earth do these people even get our information? They were very well informed - knew who I bank with, my maiden and married names, my parents address and phone number as well as my new address which I have lived at for less than a year. The number they called me from was 757-448-3904

This is fraud. Hersche Kemp LLC is not a valid company and I have already contacted the NY State Attorney General about them. They tell you that you have a pending civil suit filed against you for past debt. They take your money and never pay off the debt.

These people are a bunch of uneducated idiots.  Telling me that I wrote a bad check in one state, and that they were going to have me arrested for a felony in another state.  I listened to the irate idiot on the phone, and when he was done yelling at me, I asked him to please send me any documentation he had regarding this.  he told me I owe this debt, and I know I owe this debt.  Again, I asked for any documentation regarding this to please be mailed to me.   He became even more infuriated, and threatened to have an arrest warrant issued against me.  Told me he could stop this with $50.  Really?  WOW!  Do people really fall for this scam?

I recieved a message from a Nancy Blackwell who left a case number and mentioned a "Petiion" in her office. I did not call her back because I have been recieving these type of scam phone calls for quite some time now. I have reported the ones I have spoken to to the consumer protection agency at the Los Angeles district attorneys office and the FTA. I suggest you do the same. They love to use the catch phrase at the end "Good Luck" at the end of their messages. that is what tipped me off on this particular call. The DA's office says that anyone trying to collect a debt in California must submit it in writing to you and you have 30 days to respond to the written notice.

I just got a message from Kenneth Sledge (what a great last name for a fraudster, LOL) but he was asking for Shannon Siple and went on to say she has 30 days before a legal proceeding against her regarding her name, social security number and banking credentials. He left Shannon's reference number 43046.

They called my grandmother (73 y/o grandmother) looking for me (lol). She lives in Nebraska, and I haven't lived in that state since the age of 14 (I am 33 now and lived in CA for 19 years, and my mom lives in CA as well...why didn't they call her, lol).

Contact your State Attorney General's office (I am going to file an online complaint with them in my state - CA) & submit a Do Not Call registry for the number.

This seems to be something bogus....really bogus.

I received a phone call from this number. The man said he was trying to locate a Robert Burke. He said I was on a list of people who might know who this is and where he is located.  I told him the only Burke I know is married to my ex-husbands former wife.  I gave him her name.  He knew where she lives. He said that he had already contacted her. I felt this was a little "off".  So I asked him if this involved some kind of fraud.
He got a little "Cagey" especially when I tried to help him by offering the the zabaseach address.  I told him how scary it is to know that anyone has access to this information.  He very politely said he 'had to go now.'  If you know the phone number, and, there are so many complaints, there must be some way to put a stop to this.  I reported it to the phone company.

THIS IS A SCAM!!!!! IGNORE THESE PEOPLE!!! Just like others mentioned above, I got a call about a ridiculous "pending lawsuit" when they asked for my name I gave them a fake one and sure enough they said they had me on their list and that there was a court date set!  then they went ahead to ask for my SS# at which point I laughed and they became very angry and RUDE, I in turn hung up and blocked their number.

I got a call on my cellphone but by the time I got to it, they'd hung up. They didn't leave a msg either.
I would like to take this opportunity to tell you all that these are probably bill collectors. There are so many collection agencies out there trying to collect now, that it's enough to make your head spin. This could be a very old bill that you neglected to pay and they keep buying/selling your "uncollected" account from one agency to another. Each agency thinking that they will soon be successful in collecting on that debt and receive a nice fee for their own pockets. I can't believe some of the practices (tactics) that I hear take place these days. They misrepresent who they are. They curse you out, yell at you, call you every name under the sun and then continue to harass you by putting you on the auto dial, sometimes up to 10 times per day, every day, including weekends. Well, most of those tactics don't work on me. When they first started calling, I answered my phone and tried to work something out and the woman immediately started yelling at me (I suppose it was because I wasn't giving her the answers she was looking for), and though she truly rattled me, apparently it was not obvious to her from the tone and pitch of my voice because she seem to become even more enraged (if that is possible) with my monotone pitch.

I?d been talked to like that once before a long time ago.  It was also from a bill collector who seemed to be mad at me because I was so calm and uncaring about the debt (which they?d jacked up with additional charges and fees) or the threat to screw up my credit (which at the time I didn?t think they could do.  I had A-1 credit and they had no ?proof of charges that they could present to me to pay from).  I simply explained that I had not received the bill and asked for a copy of the original bill as I would not pay on ?her word alone?.  (I fully intended to pay the bill (reluctantly) if it were indeed a bill for services rendered to me).  But when she said she?d ?sent the bill to me several times before? and ?we people were all alike?? and again threatened to ruin my credit, I asked if she could hold for one second.  When I returned I made a few beeping noises some handheld gismo (what it was escapes me at this time) and then I asked if she?d mind repeating what she?d just said about ?my credit being ruined? but interrupted her before she could respond with, ?oh by the way, do you mind if I tape this conversation?.  Then she told me that she?d ?resend? a copy of the original bill and read back my address to me.  She said she?d get those docs to me asap and she?d call me once I had the docs in hand.  I never heard from that lady again, and I never saw anything on my credit report related to ?lab? charge (which was the hidden charge you?d get when you had a doctor's appt and he sent you for tests.  Of course you?d never get that ?lab? bill until months later (if ever) after you?d paid any co-pays on your dr. visit).

Once I?d had that experience with the collectors, I pretty much figured I didn't need the additional stress in my life, so I don't answer any calls from numbers that I don't recognize.  And I figure if it's legitimate they should leave a msg and I'll get right back to them, whoever it may be. My recent experiences were with 2 separate companies that called my phone from 8am - 9pm each day, several times per day. One of them would even call my work number immediately after each call to my cellphone. At first it caused me a great deal of anxiety, then as the YEAR rolled on, I just got used to it. I am not a big cellphone user, so I just never answered my phone unless the name appeared and it was one of my relatives. Since my cellphone is not used for my job, I feel no obligation to answer it unless I choose to.

Those companies have since sold and/or exchanged and resold and/or exchanged those debts several times over to several different ?collection? agencies -all of whom are the same? just plain NASTY!  I still don?t answer calls from unrecognized numbers. I have been at the same job and same phone number for over 5 yrs.  They can send correspondence through the mail if it?s legitimate.

Anyhow, all of this was just to say, I know that I owe a couple of bills, and these folks are bill collectors.  If you look back far enough, you too may find some unpaid, unforgotten debt you?ve not paid.  They?re going wayyy back (maybe because of this recession and the money crunch and the fact that they have nothing to lose but a little bit of their time) because there is a chance that you will pay that debt.

I will pay when I can afford to pay, but only the original debt and to the original creditor only. But until then, I have to pay for the simple living (surviving) expenses such as a place to lay my head, food in my stomach and transportation costs to get back and forth to work (BTW- we (the little people at my company) have not received a raise in the past 2 years, and this year is almost gone and it doesn?t look good either).  However everything else has gone up (except my salary) and the government, transportation dept and utility companies keep telling me I need to pay more.  I?m just trying to survive.

Note:  I did pay an old debt after a collection agency got it (approx 5 months later), but I made the MONEY ORDER payable to the original debtor, with the original account number and wrote ?PAID IN FULL? in notes section.  I did not want any of them to have my checking account number because I?ve heard horror stories about that as well.  In this day of ACH and auto pay, anyone with your account number can take your money from your bank.  You can get it back (eventually) if they?ve taken it unlawfully (can?t show proof of authorization to take it) however, that could take forever, and personally; I don?t have money to loan to anyone.  I barely have enough to pay my bills as it is.
Sorry about the NOVEL. :-)  I hope this helps someone out there.

A lady from Hershey Kent LLC called my brother's cell phone and left a message for me calling me by my maiden name which I haven't used in years. She said that someone had made a complaint against me and a civil suit is being filed against me in my county and that if I would like to settle out of court, I need to call her back .She left a case number with the message and told me to consider myself notified . She talked so ghetto and so fast I couldn't understand what she was saying about a portfolio and I couln't make out what she said her name was. When I do a search on the internet all that pops up is how these people are scammers .I didn't get the message until the weekend, so I can't call them back until Monday and that's driving me crazy. Thanks to this website I will be very cautious about anything I say . I have no idea what this could be about, so I'm thinking it's a scam.
