Got a call from 1-326-198-7153 by lady with an Indian accent.  She said she was from Microsoft Windows, and asked for me by name.  Said they have error reports regarding my computer.   Told her I have a Mac.  She got quiet, said ok, and hung up.  Clearly a scam.

Call this morning at 7:30 ET, not sure why I picked up.  I never answer the phone when I don't recognize the number - but, it was so early, that I thought it must be something important.  No, it was "The Technical Department of Windows".  It was urgent that go through the steps she recommended, because my screen would turn blue or black in a couple of hours, then it was an hour.  Although I was already logged on, she didn't know that - I wonder why...  I tried to ask if I could call back, but it was imperative that she prove to me the details of my computer showing that it was reporting errors.  I got bored with asking her questions, so just hung up.  Of course she called back 3 times in the following 5 minutes.  Now that they know I've answered, I suspect they will not give up.

He wasn't and can't unless you actually gave them access to your computer! Its all a scam to gain access BTW.. The only persons who should be touching your computer is you, your manufacturer, Real Windows support that you have called and/or maybe a real live tech you see face to face!

We got the call too and our computer was infected we had Avast and it did a boot scan, I sure would like to know how they got the Virus on our computer, and how they got our phone number.
The boot scan may not have NOT resolved the problem and said files were corrupted.
Scary stuff I will contact Verizon to see what they can do to block these people.

Alright, I got a call from these people and actually decided to play along. They claim to be from "Windows" I believe they mean Microsoft but I figured it would be a hoot to play along. I have been in the tech field for the past twenty years or so just so you have a general background.

Alright, so here is their pitch. "Your computer is downloading malware and we need to get it fixed". I will honestly tell you that Microsoft, Apple, etc does not have a preventative task force that will seek out people with computer problems. That being said, they will ask you to run command prompt (I do not recommend doing this unless you 1. Know what you are doing and 2. Refuse to give them accurate information.) They then walked me through running my version of windows to confirm that they have the right/correct PC. This is a scam. I let them know my profession and knowledge of computers and the proceeded to laugh at them as they attempted to convey that they "were on my team". So, be warned! This is a scam.

Just got a call and its 10:00 pm.  This is the second call in two weeks.  Indian accent woman, loud noise and conversation in background.  Says I have viruses on my computer and malicious tampering is taking place right now and she wants access to my computer to get rid of the viruses, but must do it now.  I said "you know what lady, this phone is being monitored by the police and we have been waiting for this call to come through and you have now been busted".  She hung up.

It was 10:48pm and I was already in bed and almost asleep.  An Indian accented woman started talking about my computer, blah, blah, blah.  I said "Lady, it's 10:48 at night -- why the hell are you calling so late for?  She hung up....Pissed me off, especially since I know it's a scam and rip-off.  I suppose that since they are located in Belgium there's no way to stop these dummies...

Woman claiming to call from Walmart about a new computer I just bought from Walmart. She told me that there were reports that computers from Walmart get infected with a virus when connected to the internet. I told her my computer was still in the box; not yet connected. She hung up.

How did she know I just bought a computer from Walmart? How did she get my phone number? I'm going to try to get answers from Walmart.
